Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1269 - 654: A Small Band of Resisters

The middle-aged man was asked many questions by the monster.

During this period, he showed a very humble yet somewhat fanatical attitude.

Regarding the monster’s appearance, which was physiologically unsettling to humans, he didn’t find it inappropriate.

It makes sense; the survivors from a thousand years ago must have seen the appearances of extraterrestrial invaders many times already.

Meanwhile, his son also woke up.

After several months of deep sleep, he felt very groggy upon waking up and screamed the moment he saw the monster.

”Ah—!! A ghost!!!”

Then his father kicked him several meters away, causing him to fall unconscious again.

The middle-aged man’s incredibly swift leg speed and his frantic apologies afterward amazed Xu Xin.

”So, you didn’t feel any changes?”

After listening to the middle-aged man’s account, the eyes exposed outside the monster’s clothing opened wide.

”Yes... Yes.” The middle-aged man swallowed nervously and said fearfully.

In the day since the monster defected, the middle-aged man hadn’t received any news.

He’s not responsible for selecting survivors; he’s only here for his son, the one he just kicked into a wall, rendering unconscious again.

However, he does have contact with the people responsible for selecting survivors. At least before he came in, he didn’t notice anything unusual.

He even contacted those in charge of survivor selection, but they also don’t know what’s happening now. They’ve been awaiting instructions from higher-ups, which explains the current stalemate.

This is why survivors from the external district have been inactive recently.

”I can contact them and inquire now!”

The middle-aged man immediately took out a communication device similar to a cell phone.

But it’s pointless because communication with the outside world within the world tree is impossible.

”Alright, I’ve learned what I needed. You can stay here and assist me for now.”

The monster waved its hand and then pointed at Xu Xin, saying to the middle-aged man, ”This is Xu Xin. I indeed sent someone to kill him before, but now we are in a cooperative relationship. Seeing him is like seeing me.”

After saying this, it didn’t linger any longer. The eyes on its body simultaneously glanced at Xu Xin, as if winking at him, then teleported and disappeared.

This guy just left...?

Xu Xin looked at the man standing motionless and became slightly wary.

Judging by the kick he gave his son earlier, he should be completely recovered now.

If he decides to make a move against me now...

Xu Xin already has a weapon concealed in his sleeve.

”He can teleport without needing to draw the teleportation array pattern...! Truly our divine being! I’m actually assisting a divine being! Whew...”

The man changed from his previously cold image, his entire face flushing red, muttering to himself and taking a deep breath.

”...Is it really that exciting? You’ve met them before, haven’t you?”

Xu Xin gripped the compact handgun in his hand, asking tentatively.

”Calling them ’them’ — they’re divine beings!” The middle-aged man quickly turned his head, correcting Xu Xin’s statement, ”I’ve only seen them from afar before, never spoken face-to-face with them... This is simply...”

Xu Xin felt he might faint from excitement soon.

Goodness...

”Ah, sorry!”

The middle-aged man suddenly realized something and immediately bowed to Xu Xin: ”I didn’t know about your association with our divine beings before and intended to act against you, hoping for your forgiveness!”

After all, the divine being said, seeing him is like seeing the divine!

In Lou Fei’Er’s description, this middle-aged man was very composed and indifferent, but now he has this demeanor.

”Hmm... It’s fine.” Xu Xin waved his hand, ”I’m the one who detained your son.”

”As long as he’s alive, it’s alright!” The man immediately went to his son’s side upon hearing this, squatted down, and lifted his son, who had just hit his head on the wall and was unconscious again, feeding him a pill, ”Just detained for a few days. It will give him a taste of hardship! To dare to have that attitude toward the divine and even call the divine a ghost! He’s driving me mad!”

”He’s never seen a mon... er, your divine beings, has he?” Xu Xin asked, looking at the man’s son held in his father’s arms, whose pained expression was gradually easing.

”No.” The man shook his head, letting his still unconscious son lean against the wall, and stood up, ”He’s only twenty-something, and the divine beings haven’t appeared in recent years. He hasn’t seen them even once before.”

Then the middle-aged man turned to Xu Xin, asking somewhat reservedly, ”Is there anything else I can assist with?”

Xu Xin rubbed his chin.

Lou Fei’Er went through the trouble of capturing this man, only to find he knows nothing.

Still, this can be considered useful information.

At least judging by the middle-aged man’s situation, the extraterrestrial invaders haven’t cared about survivor selection here recently.

They’re so uninterested they haven’t even bothered to send any message here.

However, from the perspective of the extraterrestrial invaders, this might be a common choice.

Given the extent to which the world tree is being frantically monitored now, the extraterrestrial invaders seem to have completely focused their attention on Xu Xin and the others here.
