Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1283 - 659

Ji Chaoyang’s words stirred up a massive wave of shock in everyone’s hearts.

Xu Ying’s body trembled slightly, and she bit her lip.

”Tomorrow?!” Li Wenxi exclaimed, ”How can it be so soon? Tomorrow?”

Don’t they need time to prepare?

Aren’t they still in internal chaos?

Xu Xin touched his chin and sighed, ”I knew this day would come quickly, but I didn’t expect it to be this soon.”

At this moment, Ji Chaoyang shared detailed information in the [Explorers] chat group.

The sky was filled with countless aircraft, covering the entire sky, and even enormous warships were flying through the air.

And on the ground, there were endless mutated creatures as dense as an ant swarm.

According to Ji Chaoyang, the scene would make one feel dizzy at first glance, with a faint sense of despair arising from deep within.

The opposing army was overwhelmingly large, so large that it even made people somewhat lose the will to resist.

Of course, this was all what Xu Xin and the others had anticipated; it was just that this day had come a bit too early.

After Ji Chaoyang sent the message, no one responded in the chat group for a long time.

”Why... why?” Li Wenxi was somewhat puzzled, ”Why would they come so quickly? Didn’t they look down on us? How can they act so swiftly... it’s only been a day!”

”...The order maintainers are inherently sentinels.” Xu Xin looked up at Li Wenxi and said, ”Don’t forget one thing.”

”What thing?” Both Li Wenxi and Xu Ying looked at him.

”The internal conflict of the alien invaders.” Xu Xin said solemnly.

”...Internal conflict?” Xu Ying frowned, then a flash of understanding appeared in her eyes, ”Oh... so that’s why they’re so eager to attack us...”

”What do you mean?” Li Wenxi was still confused, ”Are you talking about their current internal chaos? Isn’t this kind of internal conflict supposed to make it harder for them to act?”

”I thought so too at first.” Xu Xin glanced out the window, in the direction of the monsters, ”But later, I asked the monster in detail, and it told me that the military power over there is still entirely controlled by its ’father.’”

Which means that the opposing military authority has not been dispersed at all.

Similar to... a warlord regime.

This kind of ruling class power is more established on military force; without a dispersion of force, at most, ordinary individuals there are dissatisfied with the current situation, but they have no way to challenge the ruling class.

But it’s not without any impact.

For them, Earth is a huge minefield.

If the individuals below are dissatisfied and start slacking off, it’s not a good thing for those above.

They either appease the masses or forcefully implement mining labor; otherwise, if the individuals below are just going through the motions, the mineral output from Earth will decrease, and they won’t be able to answer to their home planet.

Regarding this point, Xu Xin also asked the monster in detail, and it hadn’t implemented any mandatory mining labor.

After all, each alien invader individual holds certain weapons in their hands, though not powerful enough to contend with the military, these can easily cause disturbances.

Besides, their ”Source of Life” is also controlled by the warlord; the subordinates can’t cause significant upheaval, so there’s no need to impose high pressure, lest it provokes incidents or spawns some real separatist organizations.

But the situation caused by continued neglect is that the subordinates’ dissatisfaction grows, and the invader group becomes less cohesive and starts to become chaotic.

”Ah... I understand now, diverting the conflict!” Li Wenxi’s eyes widened, ”Using the external crisis from our side to suppress their internal conflicts for now!”

”Exactly.” Xu Xin nodded.

Under such circumstances, what could temporarily unite them and make them cohesive?

Create an imaginary enemy, then unite externally to shift the internal conflict.

Xu Xin couldn’t help but give a bitter laugh.

Although he’s not a politician, this situation was very common a thousand years ago.

Especially for a certain country with a globally widespread military, which played this hand expertly.

Very similar to the alien invaders’ current situation.

”Since you thought of this earlier, why didn’t you tell us sooner?” Li Wenxi lightly punched him.

”What’s the use of telling you earlier?” Xu Xin shrugged, ”I wasn’t very sure either, and uncertain information only causes panic rather than anything else. Besides, according to my calculations, it’d take them three or four days at the earliest. In three or four days, a year would have passed in the World Tree; what’s there to worry about?”

”Hmm...” Li Wenxi pursed her lips.

”Ah!” Xu Ying suddenly shouted, grabbing the dozing Keke beside her and showering her with energetic petting.

”...Ying?! Ying Ying Ying?!”

Keke was startled awake, her face filled with terror and confusion.

”This is too soon! I... I always thought we’d have at least another year in the World Tree!” Xu Ying held Keke and sat back down, her expression despondent.

”Tomorrow... Is it tomorrow already... Half of today is already gone!”

Xu Ying counted on her fingers, calculating, ”So, there’s only about two months left?”

Two months of time, actually very ample for the already prepared explorers.
