Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1278 - 657: Fiery Skyline (Part 2)

”The escape of those enforcers might escalate the alien invaders’ attack,” Qin Yunlong said in a deep voice.

These enforcers themselves were sent by the alien invaders to spearhead the assault, but they were driven away directly due to heavy fire, and some even died.

After these enforcers escape, they will surely go to report back to the alien invaders.

The strongest enforcers among humans have been killed or injured here, so what will they do next?

They might have to take action themselves.

”It doesn’t matter, isn’t this our goal?” Zhao Xiaochuan’s face was illuminated bright red by the scenes displayed on the console surrounding the World Tree, and with a hint of excitement on his face, he really resembled a villainous arsonist.

However, indeed, everyone present was an arsonist.

”That’s true.”

”In any case, we are fully prepared now, and all that should be done has been done. Next, we wait and see what the other side does.”

”Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go back and rest. Even if the alien invaders come, they can’t come that fast. Why the tension? I’m going back first.”

”Ma Hongwei, I’ll leave this to you!”

”I’ll stay here too!”

”Ha, where are you running to! Die for me!”

...

When Xu Xin and Li Wenxi returned to the villa, Xu Ying was playing games with a controller.

”Huh? You guys finished so fast?” Xu Ying looked at them with some surprise.

”No. It’s still bombing outside.” Li Wenxi sat beside Xu Ying and asked with concern, ”How are you feeling now?”

”Oh, I’ve told you, no need to worry about me.” Xu Ying leaned on Li Wenxi’s shoulder, still playing with the controller as she said, ”I’m fine already, right, Keke?”

”Ying!”

Keke was lying on her lap, watching her play and immediately raised its little head and let out a cry.

Before Xu Xin and the others took action, Xu Ying had gone to the underground human base.

She wasn’t feeling well when she came back, so she didn’t participate in the previous operation.

”...We’ve already started to act.”

Xu Xin sat beside her and said.

”Hmm.” Xu Ying made a sound in her throat and continued playing games, ”When they really arrive, we’ll set out.”

”It’s still early, it should be at least a few more months, right?”

Li Wenxi looked at Xu Xin.

A few more months...

Indeed.

The full-scale attack of the alien invaders would most likely not come so soon.

They need preparation too.

Moreover, at the beginning, they would definitely make constant probings instead of launching an all-out attack from the start.

So, even the fastest, it should take at least a few days’ time.

Whereas within the World Tree, the time would be much longer.

It might even exceed a year.

Xu Ying slightly raised her eyebrows.

The real start of the war basically means that she would be erased from the world.

To deal with those alien invaders by invading their lair, the power of the weapons they currently have is far from enough.

But the weapons she brought from another space-time could handle it.

Yet if she uses those weapons, she...

”There’s still quite a long time then! That’s just great, I want to do everything I’ve wanted to do in this period!”

...

Outside the World Tree, the bombing lasted for a little less than half an hour before gradually stopping.

But the forest fire did not stop; it continued to spread outwards.

No need to worry that the forest fire would keep spreading, as the rivers crisscross and surround the area. At most, the fire would only scorch all the area marked by the rivers; it couldn’t reach the opposite riverbank.

But around the World Tree, it’s already barren and charred.

The once dense and verdant jungle has now lost its vitality.

Even the bombed-out pits and craters portray a scene akin to the end of the world.

Yet amidst this apocalyptic scene, small dots of green gradually emerged.

On the scorched yellow and black ground, new buds began to sprout out.

This is the terrifying regenerative ability of plants within the range of the World Tree’s influence.

In this soon-to-be-regenerated charred barren land, countless giant beasts are roaming around.

They are searching for possible survivors.

”Found it.”

At the edge of Crystal City, on the rooftop edge of a two-story crystal building, a stone statue-like human was sitting.

Long Yin.

The words just now were uttered by him, and at this moment, his gaze was directed outside Crystal City.

In that direction, a petrified giant beast was rushing towards him, its massive body and unimaginable weight causing the ground to tremble slightly with each step.

This was a petrified giant bear, and in the bear’s paw, it was holding a figure wrapped in armor.

In the earlier bombing, a few enforcers were blasted to death while inside their armor.

No, it seems they weren’t killed by the explosion because the armor wasn’t damaged much. They were likely flung by the huge waves of explosions, hitting something, leading to severe internal injuries, and then continuously tossed around by successive explosions until they died.

”This armor... is really strong.”

Although the armor was very dirty, covered with dirt and soot, and had some scorch marks, it wasn’t damaged.

Long Yin took out a cloth to wipe it, removing the dirt and scorch marks, and underneath it still shone with a new gleaming look.

”This thing sure is advanced, not damaged even by that powerful missile bombing.”
