Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1292 - 662: Furious Bombardment and Counterattack - The Giant Object (2)

The speed is really fast; by eye, each aircraft can hit around two thousand kilometers per hour!

And these aren’t fighter jets, but aircraft that can fly slowly and even hover in place!

For this kind of aircraft to reach two thousand kilometers per hour, you can’t help but be amazed.

Who would’ve thought something built like this could actually reach such speeds!

And this probably still isn’t the top speed of these aircraft!

However, from inside the World Tree, two thousand kilometers per hour still looks a bit too slow.

With the World Tree’s hundredfold time dilation, people inside the World Tree look at these aircraft the way you’d look at a bunch of lane-hogging cars crawling along at twenty kilometers per hour.

Only a traffic jam moves that slow.

And on the World Tree’s side, they’ve got missiles that can reach fifty times the speed of sound.

So, the battle escalated again!

”Fire!”

At Ji Chaoyang’s command, the second wave of attacks began!

”Boom!”

Missiles poured out from the World Tree in all directions like a rainstorm; every missile generated a deafening sonic boom at launch, and for a moment, the entire World Tree trembled slightly!

Not to mention the giant beasts beneath the World Tree—each one had its head rattled to the point of dizziness!

In the distance, mushroom clouds rose again, and this time their magnitude was on a whole different level from before. Previously they’d only test-fired a few dozen; this time, several hundred were launched outward at once and detonated simultaneously!

The world was plunged into white once more.

As the white light faded, towering mushroom clouds gradually took shape amid the explosions, coming into being and slowly billowing up into the sky.

”No matter how strong they are, they can’t possibly withstand the power of nuclear bombs.” Qin Yunlong watched the mushroom clouds outside the World Tree slowly forming in hundredfold slow motion as he spoke.

”Don’t get too optimistic.” Ji Chaoyang said in a deep voice. ”Nukes aren’t as powerful as you think.”

A single random solar flare can release energy equivalent to a billion megaton-class nuclear warheads.

A species capable of roaming the stars, and the craft they build, probably won’t be taken out that easily.

Not to mention, the yield of the nukes they’d just launched was relatively low. After all, at this range, if the yield were too high, it would directly threaten their own survival.

The mushroom clouds were still slowly rising.

And just then, a missile suddenly punched through the mushroom cloud’s smoke and shot out at extreme speed!

It sped straight toward the World Tree!

”That thing is fast!”

Everyone manning the external weapons inside the World Tree was stunned.

Out there, time is running a hundred times slower!

Even under a hundredfold slowdown, that missile’s speed was still closing in at a breakneck pace!

In less than ten seconds, it would hit the World Tree!

Ji Chaoyang’s pupils shrank sharply; his fists clenched tight.

The missile arrived in an instant!

When it was only a few hundred meters from the World Tree, several beams of laser suddenly lanced out from various points along the World Tree’s crown!

Their target was all the same—that missile!

In the blink of an eye, the missile violently burst apart in midair, turning into countless fragments.

Under the watching eyes of everyone inside the World Tree, the fragments slowly fanned out in all directions.

Ji Chaoyang let out a long breath.

He had actually been holding it in just now.

At the same time, several dozen more missiles like the one before shot out of the mushroom cloud and streaked toward the World Tree!

Fortunately, the laser defense-guidance system on the World Tree had already been laid out incredibly densely during this period.

Practically every missile was ”taken care of” by more than a dozen laser beams.

The end result was that each missile exploded collectively one kilometer from the World Tree’s crown, and the fragments scattered off in all directions.

And after this wave of attacks, the enemy went quiet for the moment.

The power of the laser defense-guidance system sent the nervously watching crowd into a frenzy!

Their emotions had just taken a roller-coaster plunge and climb in an instant!

”So damn strong!”

”Invincible! Our laser anti-missile system is absolutely invincible!”

”Shit, that missile just now had to be going at least twenty times the speed of sound!”

”The alien invaders are still seriously strong...”

”Hah? We already have missiles that go fifty times the speed of sound; isn’t it perfectly normal for the alien invaders to have something that does twenty times?”

”What the hell are you talking about? That was a missile fired from an aircraft! No need for any super heavy launch platform—just the plane’s own missile can exceed Mach 20!”

”Yeah, if that were one of our planes, the moment it fired a missile like that, it’d get yanked into the dirt and scrapped on the spot!”

”Damn, when you put it that way, it really does sound about right!”

”Tsk, tsk, tsk, they’re seriously strong. But no matter how strong they are, they still can’t beat our hundredfold time dilation and our automatic laser defense-guidance system.”

”Yeah, no matter how many times the speed of sound you’ve got, in front of the speed of light you’re still a pathetic little grandkid among grandkids!”

”It’s just a pity our laser’s effective range is way too short, only one kilometer.”

”Hey, as long as it works, who cares.”

”I care because it doesn’t really work! Those missiles only have low yield, that’s why you can laugh. If those were nukes going off less than a kilometer from us, what do you think would happen?”

”Uh...”

Ji Chaoyang and the others had already been frowning deeply, turning this question over in their minds.

”From what we can see right now, the missiles they just fired... seem pretty weak.” Qi Xuefei watched the fragments outside still slowly scattering in all directions. ”They actually seem... a bit too weak.”
