Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1276 - 656: Taking the Initiative, Bombarding the Surroundings! (Part 2)

Moreover, both the density and the number of high-brightness red light points are constantly increasing over time.

The time for the behemoths to mature was this morning in the external world.

It’s only noon now, and such significant changes have already occurred around us.

Additionally, these changes are extremely concealed.

When Xu Xin returned, he discovered this situation and informed the others, who were somewhat bewildered.

Qin Fu’s ability allows him to observe everything nearby through plants, but even though his ability has improved during this period, he can only observe a range of about five kilometers and cannot see further.

Thus, Xu Xin was the first to discover this situation.

Those observing the surroundings with telescopes did not notice anything unusual.

This clearly indicates that the red points displayed on Xu Xin’s mental map are intentionally hiding themselves.

The great war is about to commence.

However, there doesn’t seem to be any sign of an alien invader army.

”Hmm, I think so too,” Li Wenxi nodded gently. ”Even though we live within the World Tree, we still have to be constantly on edge. Since we’re already prepared, then let’s...”

...

All the exploration team members ultimately reached a consensus.

Strike first to gain advantage!

At this moment, the time is one o’clock in the afternoon, the period of the brightest sunlight.

The people living outside the World Tree were once again brought back into the World Tree.

At this time, all the behemoths outside the World Tree had already returned to Crystal City.

Among the lush canopy of the World Tree, countless weapons protruded outward.

”Are we really going to fire?”

As the weapons’ creator, Ma Hongwei was responsible for this first launch outside the World Tree. Although he had previously tested firings, they were all conducted within the World Tree.

Now, standing at the underground control platform, he asked through the communication device.

After receiving affirmation from everyone, Ma Hongwei took a deep breath and immediately pressed the command button!

”Boom!!!”

Throughout the dense canopy of the World Tree, there was simultaneously the sound of breaking through the air and sonic booms!

...

In the jungle, a person wearing special armor was hiding in the canopy of a lush poplar tree, observing the situation of the World Tree through the gaps in the leaves.

Looking at this World Tree that was several times larger than a normal one, and at the Crystal City which gave him a very uncomfortable feeling, his expression was grim.

The behemoths in Crystal City, especially those that appeared to be stones yet could move nimbly, made him, a person who had survived for a millennium, too intimidated to approach easily.

More than once, he raised his sniper rifle, contemplating shooting one of the behemoths to test the strength of these seemingly strange creatures, but he always hesitated.

Because he was not acting alone.

Order keepers usually do not act in groups, because each of them, facing all creatures except alien invaders, is proud and arrogant, making cooperation extremely unpleasant, so they prefer to act individually.

But this situation was particularly special.

Their deity directly issued orders for most of the order keepers to gather around the human World Tree.

The order was merely to congregate and observe without engaging.

Thus, around Crystal City, there were hundreds of order keepers like him.

”Humans, who dare to possess a World Tree...”

Such was the thought in the hearts of all the order keepers at that moment.

They held an extremely disdainful and arrogant attitude toward this group of humans brought from a millennium ago.

Even though these people were from the same era as them, after a thousand years of genetic modification, they no longer considered themselves human, even being ashamed of their human appearance and language!

A portion of the combat-specialized survivors from a millennium ago became known as order keepers.

They were not only direct subordinates of the alien invaders but also intermediaries between the alien invaders and all survivors, including humans.

Since the alien invaders abhorred the human appearance, they enveloped their own bodies in special full-body armor so that the invaders would not be physically repelled by their appearance.

Through contact with the alien invaders, they learned parts of their language, taking pride in speaking their language and even communicating amongst themselves using it.

Despite their human throats being unable to produce the correct pronunciation of the alien invader language, they enthusiastically pursued it, even undergoing physical modification and genetic alteration to turn their voices into monstrous tones.

Through long-term contact with the alien invaders and brainwashing, their aesthetics underwent major distortions.

They detested their human appearance beneath the armor.

As a result, some order keepers became grotesque monsters through genetic experiments, while the rest altered themselves to become monstrous.

Thus, accurately speaking, they were no longer human.

Underneath their specialized armor lay extremely repulsive appearances that normal people couldn’t tolerate, which they took pride in.

Because of this, other survivors feared them.

In the eyes of other survivors and earlier waves of survivors, order keepers were the epitome of terror.

They possessed frightening appearances, hoarse and unpleasant voices, exceptional combat abilities, and conveyed orders from alien invaders.

To ordinary survivors, they were considered supreme beings.

Yet now, this group had to hide timidly in the canopy, unable to launch an attack!

This kindled a fire in each of their hearts.

They even contemplated how best to inflict cruelty on the humans after conquering the World Tree!

”?”

Suddenly, this order keeper hiding in the foliage saw a cluster of light sparks on the World Tree’s canopy.

Before he could react, he was engulfed in a blaze of fire.

...

The World Tree’s canopy had long since shaded the entire three-kilometer radius of Crystal City.

The distance from the canopy to the jungle outside Crystal City was only a few hundred meters.

At fifty times the speed of sound, the projectiles were almost equivalent to instant kill at such close range.

”Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!!”

The order keepers hiding in the jungle didn’t even have time to react before they were stunned by the power of conventional missiles!

Everything happened too suddenly!

The missiles were so fast that they couldn’t detect them; it was as if the missiles had directly detonated on their bodies!

”Zzz—zzz—zzz—”

Simultaneously, numerous laser beams shot outward, instantly striking down some unknown bird species that suddenly appeared in the sky!

This was the latest laser weapon developed by Ma Hongwei.

The speed of light was much faster than fifty times the speed of sound!

As long as there were no obstacles, laser weapons were extremely formidable against single targets!

In an instant, the explosions, mushroom clouds, and lasers surrounded the World Tree!

Countless birds fell from the sky, and screams and explosions reverberated through the jungle!

At the same time, countless people clad in specialized armor emerged from the flames and fled into the distance!

Xu Xin and the others did not use nuclear missiles because nuclear weapons would cause severe pollution to the surrounding area, and using such weapons in the jungle so close to Crystal City would harm both sides.

However, the power of conventional weapons seemed insufficient to directly kill these order keepers in specially made armor. Though they appeared severely injured, they still had the ability to flee quickly.

The number of people emerging surprised Xu Xin and the others.

”Continue! Lock onto them!”

Looking from the World Tree to the outside was slowed a hundredfold!

No matter how fast the order keepers moved, they were exposed!

”Boom boom boom boom boom!!!!”

Missiles flew out at high speed, chasing after these people, causing constant explosions!

”Zzz—zzz—zzz—z—”

Lasers fired all around!

Simultaneously, countless missiles with fifty times the speed of sound hurtled toward enemy units clustered tens or even dozens of kilometers away!

These carried nuclear payloads!

With far distances, Xu Xin and the others didn’t care anymore!

Use the most powerful weaponry available! Consider pollution afterward!

They intended to completely eradicate all lurking creatures surrounding them!
