Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 800: Chapter 494: Swarms of Insects Dash into the Fire! (5100 words)_2

Their treehouse might be the first to get attacked!

Even if it’s not destroyed, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

And then there’s Qin Fu.

Where did that guy go?

The map flashed in his mind, and then he saw a red dot about five or six hundred meters from the main treehouse, slowly moving farther away.

This guy just recovered, what is he planning to do again?

Forget it, let’s sort out the surroundings of the treehouse first!

”You two, go inside the treehouse and pack up some things, bring all the valuables,” Xu Xin turned to Lou Fei’Er and Jin Yue and said.

Their treehouse is too close to the jungle; it’s better to have everyone come to my treehouse.

”I’ll go help them!” Zeng Tao followed along.

Xu Xin quickly returned to his own treehouse.

”What’s going on outside?” Li Wenxi came over worriedly, ”Why are those trees falling one after another?”

Xu Xin briefly explained the situation and then said, ”I need mutant vines as materials for the bonfire!”

The explorer’s supplies were mostly stored with Li Wenxi, and she brought all the materials this time.

”Okay!”

With dozens of dead mutant vines, they came down from the treehouse. Lou Fei’Er, Jin Yue, and Zeng Tao had already finished packing, and they quickly placed a circle around the treehouse at about seventy to eighty meters and then set it on fire!

Mutant vines are very flammable materials, so all you need to do is pile them up on the ground and ignite them.

Bright flames rose from all around the treehouse.

Immediately, the insects in the jungle went crazy!

Countless flying and crawling insects rushed to the burning mutant vines, diving into the fierce flames!

And then they became a part of the flames.

The light from the mutant vine’s fire was much brighter and more intense than a torch!

Even though the insect swarm was overwhelming, they were unable to extinguish the flames with sheer numbers. The small flying insects turned into ashes just being touched by the outer flame, becoming fuel themselves, making the fire even fiercer!

The crawling insects on the ground were the same, crawling into the flames only fueled it more fiercely!

The treehouse was illuminated, and the survivors in the treehouse were mostly lying by the windows looking out.

”Is this how they repel insects!?”

”A whole circle of flames!”

”Wow, so many bugs flying into the fire! My god, it’s disgusting how dense it is!”

”Why is the fire burning hotter and hotter?”

”The bugs are fueling the fire with their bodies.”

”Calm down, calm down, I said, living with Brother Xin, what are you worried about?”

”Indeed, except for not being able to use our own treehouse to connect with the outside world, this place is incredibly comfortable!”

”Haha, it’s so bright outside! Like daytime, so we don’t need to turn on the lights, let’s keep partying!”

”Keep going, keep going, I’ll definitely win the next round!”

This group of people was very comfortable.

Of course, they were effectively locked in the treehouse, as long as they entertained themselves without clamoring to go out, it spared Xu Xin a lot of trouble.

Watching the highly effective roaring flames in front of him, Xu Xin nodded in satisfaction.

The flames from the burning mutant vines were stable and there was basically no wind in the jungle now, so it wouldn’t affect the surrounding forest with a wildfire. It was a stable way to kill and repel insects.

However, there were still some drawbacks.

The flames would greatly increase the ambient temperature.

It was originally only forty degrees at night, but now, under the influence of the mutant vine fire, the surrounding temperature was rapidly rising!

Moreover, mutant vines weren’t ordinary wood; the fire they produced burned at a much higher temperature than normal wood!

This meant the area around the flames was now intolerable even for Xu Xin!

And the temperature around the treehouse, under the heat of the flames and the summer, exceeded the usual midday temperature, surpassing sixty degrees and approaching seventy degrees!

This temperature could probably fry an egg...

”It’s so hot...” Zeng Tao complained weakly.

”It’s the first time I’ve felt this hot...” Lou Fei’Er wiped the sweat off her forehead.

Jin Yue didn’t speak, but she was soaked through.

Though they had mutant physiques, they were struggling with the near seventy-degree heat.

Comparatively, Xu Xin, with his heat resistance, was still relatively at ease.

”You guys should head into my treehouse first.”

No matter how hot it was outside, it couldn’t affect his treehouse inside, thanks to its strong temperature control.

This method can be used by the other explorers too!

The women returned to the treehouse, where Li Wenxi pulled them up, while Xu Xin continued to observe for a while.

Not a single insect showed interest in his treehouse; even the surrounding range had insects abandoning gnawing on the trees and crazily heading towards the flames.

For now, it’s very safe.

Moreover, it greatly slowed down the destruction of the surrounding trees.

He immediately contacted Ji Chaoyang.

”...I had the same idea, but didn’t expect it to be so effective,” Ji Chaoyang was somewhat surprised by how well it worked.

However, he had an additional backup plan compared to Xu Xin’s side.

”Xuefei is preparing herbal insect-repellent potions, I’ve been helping her. It should be ready soon.”
