Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 779: Chapter 487: Lake with Greatly Lowered Water Level (4600 words)_2

After speaking, she turned her head and ran up to the second floor.

This little girl...

Xu Xin shook his head.

He didn’t follow her.

When rooms were allocated to them earlier, a few extra rooms were made, so she could just go down and choose one.

Walking to the window, he opened it, and a wave of heat rushed in.

It was already very hot outside, but compared to the afternoon, it was much better.

At this rate of cooling, by nightfall, it might even drop below forty degrees.

The temperature is dropping really fast!

Perhaps it’s because of...

He looked at the sun, which was near the horizon.

The sunlight was no longer glaring.

Half of the sky was dyed red, presenting a very beautiful sunset scene.

It seems that, compared to the troublesome snow-covered nights of winter, the current stage of scorching summer nights is actually the most comfortable time of the day.

The hardest time to endure should be from noon to the afternoon.

At that time, the jungle, with a temperature of sixty degrees or so, was simply a natural sweat room!

That’s right, a sweat room, not a sauna, because in this scorching phase, it’s dry heat, not the muggy humidity that comes with rain!

The air now was extremely dry, and just having the window open for such a short time, Xu Xin already felt his throat and nasal cavity starting to dry out!

He gazed toward the treehouse’s nearby lake.

The lake had shrunk significantly, and the shallow areas had completely disappeared.

Even the deep-water areas in the middle, from his current angle, were no longer visible; only a pitch-black deep abyss remained.

He could see dry, cracked abyssal stone walls.

Those stone walls were originally submerged under ten meters of water, now completely exposed.

This scorching summer had evaporated a significant portion of the lake water’s temperature!

Hmm...?

Xu Xin’s eyes suddenly lit up.

Wait a minute.

Did the lake’s water level drop?

How low did it go?

Did the copper ore get exposed?

If it was exposed, even if he didn’t enter the lake, he could start mining copper ore!

Speaking of which, is there still any danger in the lake now?

If there isn’t any danger temporarily, perhaps he could go down and have a look!

Although outside it could reach fifty or sixty degrees, the temperature below the water surface would definitely not be that high!

There must be something good down there!

Testing the outside temperature, he felt that it was completely feasible to be active outside, so he grabbed Keke, who was napping on the sofa, and swung down from the treehouse.

”Yingyingying?” Keke hadn’t woken up and was met by a wave of heat, causing its little paws to flail around.

”Alright, Keke, help me see if it’s safe in the lake.” Xu Xin walked to the original edge of the lake and continued moving inside.

The shallow water area was completely dry.

The once soft muddy lakebed was now baked very hard by the scorching sun, and it was thoroughly cracked.

He continued forward, and after only a few steps, he reached the edge of the abyss.

...?

Xu Xin frowned slightly.

Had the size of this abyssal pit expanded again?

He felt before that the abyssal pit seemed to have expanded in size, but due to being busy with many things, he hadn’t considered it further.

Now it seems...

This abyssal pit had indeed expanded quite a bit...

He looked down into the pit.

At a glance, he saw the copper ore exposed on the rock wall.

A whole large ring of copper ore!

At this moment, the water level was just below the copper ore band, less than two meters away.

The copper ore was exposed!

The previous position of the copper ore was probably about forty meters deep underwater, right?

This lake’s water level had actually dropped forty meters due to the scorching summer and sunlight!

That’s simply outrageous!

A normal lake over a dozen meters deep would probably dry up directly!

”Ying...?” Keke poked its little head from his shoulder to look downward.

”How is it, Keke, is it dangerous?” Xu Xin pointed below and asked.

”Ying.” Keke shook its little head, indicating it didn’t sense any danger.

...Let’s go down and see.

Xu Xin took out the grappling hook he had used for climbing a snowy mountain, grabbed the edge of the abyssal pit, and slowly lowered himself down.

The grappling hook was only about twenty meters long. He got halfway, grabbed onto a protruding rock on the rock wall, retracted the hook, and then hooked deeper onto another part of the rock wall twenty meters down, continuing to lower himself.

This time, when the hook reached its maximum length, he had descended to the copper ore layer.

A whole large ring of copper ore lay fully exposed!

So much!

Really so much!

”Ying...” Keke clung tightly to his shoulder, looking down at the unfathomably deep and dark water layer below the abyss.

”Is it dangerous?” Xu Xin grabbed its big tail and asked.

”Ying.” Keke shook its little head again.

”No danger?”

”Ying!”

The little guy jumped straight from Xu Xin’s shoulder into the water, paddling a couple of times in it.

Even though the temperature was much lower than before, it was still at least forty degrees. The little guy felt it was too hot and jumped into the water to cool off.

Since it dared to jump, it implied that there should be no danger.

Xu Xin was at ease and retracted his grapple hook.

He had been thinking that if there was any danger, he would quickly pull himself up, but now that seemed unnecessary.

Seeing Keke paddling in the water, he smiled and with a splash, he also jumped into the water.
