Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 775: Chapter 486: A Different Altar (4600 Words)

”You have the audacity to say that!” Zeng Tao, who just walked in, got angry when he heard him say this. ”Do you know that the big guy you brought back almost destroyed our treehouse!”

”That was the most suitable method I could think of at that time.”

Qin Fu looked much weaker compared to Zeng Tao, his whole demeanor was quite listless.

His abilities require consuming mental energy, so he’s more mentally exhausted, unlike the energetic Zeng Tao.

He now seemed like a drunken man; although he hadn’t physically exerted himself much, his mind was somewhat spent.

”So, since I’ve survived, the giant must have been driven away, right? What’s the situation now, boss?”

Qin Fu looked at Xu Xin and asked.

”Kidding? With this young lady’s help, didn’t we easily kill that giant!” Zeng Tao puffed out her chest, proudly.

”...The giant is dead?!” Despite his exhaustion, Qin Fu widened his eyes suddenly.

”No, not dead.” Xu Xin shook his head, ”Most likely, it’s still alive.”

”Huh?” Zeng Tao was taken aback, ”Didn’t you just say...”

”It’s like this.”

The two present hadn’t experienced what just happened, so Xu Xin explained it briefly.

”Huh? The entire upper body was blown off, yet it didn’t die?” Zeng Tao was completely shocked, ”The head’s gone? The head ran off by itself?”

Unconvinced, she hurried to the window to peer outside.

”...Didn’t expect Mah Hongwei’s heavy crossbow to achieve such feats.” Qin Fu was equally astonished, ”I thought we could only drive the giant away.”

”Wow... that area outside has been bombed flat!” Zeng Tao exclaimed while leaning on the window and looking at the blast site of the massive weapon.

”So...” Xu Xin inquired of Qin Fu, ”What did you experience over the past two days at the Hilly Resource Zone, and what did you do? Why were you targeted by the Blood Pattern Giant?”

He had briefly mentioned some incidents while escaping back, but it was too vague.

Xu Xin wanted detailed information.

”Ah, my experience.” Qin Fu glanced outside and chuckled bitterly, ”That was truly too bizarre; if I say it, you might find it unbelievable.”

Qin Fu began to recount his recent experiences.

At that time, Xu Xin, among six explorers, was trapped in the underground world.

Initially, he simply felt bored staying in the treehouse, so he roamed around.

After visiting all other explorer treehouse clusters and chatting with most people, he teleported back.

And right as he stepped out of the teleportation array exit, he sensed anomalies around Xu Xin’s main treehouse.

Due to his abilities, he was highly sensitive to environmental changes around him.

The surrounding plants acted as his eyes.

At that time, he could clearly detect animal activity signs within a mere two hundred meters of the jungle.

But when he focused his mind on it, the presence that caught his attention vanished.

The disappearance, however, piqued his interest.

If it were just ordinary animals, even mutated ones, they couldn’t escape his notice.

He immediately went to investigate.

”Back then, on the ground at that spot, I discovered the dimming patterns.” Qin Fu said.

”Patterns? What patterns?”

”Just roughly... mutated creature-like patterns.” Qin Fu recalled, ”But seemed slightly different. Moreover, these patterns were clearly incomplete. And by the time I went over, they had grown very dim, fading completely in just seven or eight seconds.”

”I tried to touch that spot back then and found no anomalies. Do you have any clues about this?” Qin Fu looked at Xu Xin, asking.

”Why don’t you ask me if I have any clues?” Zeng Tao chimed in.

”Oh? Do you have any?”

”No.”

”...” Qin Fu’s mental state was poor, his head hurt, and he rolled his eyes, choosing to stay silent.

Xu Xin seemed to understand; Qin Fu had indeed found something.

He must have discovered the culprit behind the mysterious disappearances of survivors from various areas back then.

Also the reason Shi Wanyun was inexplicably teleported to the back of the planet.

Those things appeared and vanished unpredictably, setting traps around the survivors’ treehouses so that if anyone stepped on them, they would be teleported, like Shi Wanyun, to a very distant place.

And those fading patterns were likely the incomplete patterns of a transmission array.

He suddenly recalled, earlier Lou Fei’Er also detected an anomaly once, and upon rushing over, found a stray treehouse core.

If reasoned this way, then the enemy was using the energy of the treehouse core to establish teleportation array entrances around the treehouse.

Like his own coordinates?

”And then?” Xu Xin asked.

Qin Fu continued to explain.

At that time, after concentrating, he discovered the source of the anomaly was still to his northwest.

As he looked northwest, the opponent suddenly moved!

Still heading northwest.

In just two seconds, the opponent again moved beyond his exploration range, disappearing.

He immediately pursued again.

A few hundred meters ahead, he once more sensed the anomaly source.

The opponent again began rapidly moving away as soon as he sensed them.

Thus, he chased relentlessly towards the northwest.
