Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 789: Chapter 490: The Double Torture of Harsh Sunlight and High Temperature! (4600 words)_3

Moreover, with the turbidity level of this water, there might be more than just one blue-grade niter dissolved in it.

Yet, even so, the temperature of the water has already reached the same as the room temperature of forty-five or six degrees.

”This...” Li Wenxi seemed puzzled, ”Then why...”

”Hmm...” Li Yajun, leaning against the headboard and Li Wenxi’s body, let out a hum and slowly opened her eyes.

Her complexion had returned to normal, but her condition was still not very good.

The pills could treat her illness but couldn’t restore her mental state. With her condition just now, she clearly didn’t sleep well last night, hence her mental state is somewhat sluggish at the moment.

”Ah...! Wenxi? And Xu Xin, how come you guys are here?” Li Yajun immediately sat up upon seeing them, then she thought of something and suddenly looked down at her body.

Seeing herself fully clothed, she breathed a sigh of relief and asked somewhat perplexedly, ”How did I...”

”I dressed you, can’t let him see,” Li Wenxi casually explained, then immediately asked somewhat fiercely, ”What’s going on with you, Yajun! You were already passed out from heatstroke when we arrived! If we hadn’t come, you might not have woken up!”

”Ah?” Li Yajun was taken aback, then she felt the sticky sweat all over her body and the current room temperature of as high as forty-five degrees, ”I... I clearly used blue-grade niter, and used three pieces, how...”

Indeed.

Seeing that Li Yajun herself was unclear of the situation, Xu Xin confirmed his inner suspicions.

”Could it be...” Li Wenxi also vaguely guessed.

”It should be that the low temperature provided by three pieces of blue-grade niter wasn’t enough to last till now,” Xu Xin raised the basin with the dissolved niter and said, ”While you were asleep, the temperature indeed dropped, but the three pieces of niter quickly completely dissolved and ceased absorbing heat, and this treehouse doesn’t have a temperature control feature; the temperature gradually increased, and you ended up heatstroke in your sleep.”

As he spoke, he opened the window and put the basin with dissolved niter on the windowsill, in the sunlight.

In the intense sunlight, the water in the basin emitted sizzling sounds and started evaporating rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye.

This speed is almost faster than reducing sauce with high heat on a stove...

”Ah, is it really like that!” Li Yajun said somewhat surprised, ”Now that I think about it, last night indeed felt very uncomfortable, constantly in a half-awake state, and extremely hot!”

”You, if we hadn’t come over, you might have slept through it!” Li Wenxi thought about it and felt a bit scared, patting her head.

”Ah... Sorry...” Li Yajun felt very uneasy, somewhat guilty.

She originally intended to come and guard the house but instead became a trouble.

”Alright, as long as you’re okay.”

Xu Xin was staring at the evaporating water in the basin, watching the blue-grade niter powder precipitate, squinting his eyes slightly.

This isn’t a situation where just being okay is enough.

Think carefully, this is practically... a huge disaster!

With Li Yajun having blue-grade niter for cooling, it’s like this, what about other survivors?

If other survivors are like her and get heatstroke in their sleep, would they be able to wake up?

The treehouse they live in is too comfortable; he nearly forgot others’ circumstances.

He initially thought a temperature around forty degrees at night was fairly good.

But now thinking about it...

It’s still quite exaggerated.

Remember, on Earth, there indeed are high temperatures of forty-four to five degrees.

But the highest temperatures occur in the afternoon.

Night temperatures, reaching thirty-five degrees, are already very high.

So, on Earth, even without air conditioning, one could get by with just a fan in such high temperatures.

But here, not only are there no fans, the temperature exceeds forty degrees!

Early morning could even exceed forty-five degrees!

This...

This indeed isn’t a temperature a normal person can endure!

This, for other survivors, is practically a severely life-threatening disaster!

If they can’t wake up, then perhaps they’ll never wake again!

Xu Xin instinctively tried to swipe his watch to check the number of people, but after a few attempts, there was no response.

Only then did he realize that his watch was too far from his tree house to function properly.

He wanted to ask Li Wenxi to check it, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he closed it again, shaking his head helplessly.

... The regional channel was closed, it couldn’t be opened anymore.

Can’t check the number of people now.

... Damn.

Xu Xin cursed in his heart.

This is really difficult!

He sighed.

No choice, can’t help them now; they’ll have to rely on themselves.

Hopefully, not too many people will die due to this heatwave.

For now, all he can do is think about what he should do next.

... Is there any method, like during the winter season, to artificially end this heatwave?
