Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 795: Chapter 492: Night Falls Again (5,100 words)_3

This isn’t considered good news.

Oh well, things will work out eventually.

”That’s all for your task today, get ready.”

Xu Xin climbed down from Lou Fei’Er’s treehouse and turned to the one beneath Jin Yue’s treehouse.

Jin Yue had long known Xu Xin was next door, and when she saw him under her treehouse, she quickly pulled him up.

She was dressed in a short-sleeved casual outfit, and her long legs were quite the attention grabber.

But Xu Xin knew that these legs weren’t just for show; her strength now lay in them.

The power of those kicks was something even he couldn’t withstand.

Xu Xin explained the current situation to her, and she immediately agreed.

”Even if you didn’t tell me, I would’ve done it anyway,” she said softly.

Xu Xin cautioned her to be careful and then left her treehouse.

”Keke, is there any danger in the jungle right now?” Xu Xin asked Keke.

”Eee...”

Keke shook its little head, indicating it didn’t sense anything.

Xu Xin nodded.

During the day today, there wasn’t much to do.

He thought it best not to stray far from the treehouse.

Originally, he had planned to mine copper at the lake, which had its water level lowered by forty to fifty meters, but given the current circumstances...

It’s still possible, as long as it’s on the side without sunlight, right?

Of course, the outside temperature isn’t something an ordinary person can endure. Even near the water’s surface, where the temperature is a few degrees cooler, you can’t work for long.

Except for one person.

Or rather, a tool person.

Yan Haoming.

Number One.

It’s been in his wristband for several days; Xu Xin almost forgot about it!

It should be able to handle this role.

Especially with its ability!

Tool efficiency doubled!

Simply the perfect miner!

He should’ve given it to Li Wenxi earlier, letting it shine in mining.

The main issue was that when this guy was alive, he was quite disgusting. Even in death, Xu Xin didn’t want it near Li Wenxi.

This time, let it shine in the heart of the lake.

It’s the one Xu Xin’s least worried about encountering problems with; if it fails, it doesn’t really matter.

Back in the treehouse, Xu Xin asked Li Wenxi for a tool to give it.

”A purple-grade steel pickaxe?” Xu Xin was slightly startled.

He didn’t know their production tools had reached such a high level.

”Of course, production tools should be upgraded first, right?” Li Wenxi said proudly, ”This pickaxe is really strong!”

Indeed it is strong, with a certain chance to trigger an eightfold resource yield, making it a great item.

Number One immediately took the tool and backpack and set off.

Seeing Li Wenxi’s gaze outward, Xu Xin assumed she wanted to go along, and said, ”You shouldn’t go. The sunlight and temperature outside aren’t fit for normal people to venture out.”

”I don’t want to go outside, it’s so hot!” Li Wenxi waved her hand, ”I’m just gauging the distance. Your lake is very close; from the treehouse, I should be able to influence its mining.”

Oh?

This means Number One mining copper can also enjoy a certain chance of a hundredfold yield?

That’s really good!

But...

Copper mining is along the cliff edge, with a hundredfold yield...

Afraid that once it bursts out, most of the copper would fall into the lake water.

Oh well, it’s better than nothing; it’ll still catch a few.

Xu Xin contacted Ji Chaoyang next to inquire about his situation.

To his surprise, Ji Chaoyang had once hurt his own eye.

However, this time it was intentional.

He wanted to experiment on himself to see how long it takes for a normal person to recover from an eye injury.

”It’s been half an hour now, and my vision is much clearer than initially,” Ji Chaoyang said, ”As long as I’m not staring directly at the sun for too long, but only for a moment, I should largely regain my ability to see things within half a day given my current recovery speed. Although not fully restored, I could still see reasonably fine.”

”Of course, if not treated properly, there’s bound to be some vision degradation. But it’s certainly better than being blind.”

He’s indeed harsh on himself.

Is it because Qi Xuefei is by his side, he feels confident he can recover?

Nonetheless, after hearing him, Xu Xin felt more assured.

If half a day is enough to recover to the point of normal vision, then at the very least, other survivors shouldn’t face any severe issues.

Unless they recklessly stare at the sun, blinding themselves.

Ending the call, Xu Xin took a turn around the first and second floors.

The people were quite flustered just after waking up, but now they had calmed significantly, since those injured had also recovered.

Xu Xin purchased curtains from the point shop, installing them one by one over their windows.

This made the treehouse a lot safer, at least preventing accidental injuries from sunlight.

And so, a calm day began.

Zeng Tao got bored staying alone in the treehouse, bundled up in clothes, she rushed over to downstairs to hang out and play with the others together with Li Wenxi.

Except for eating, Xu Xin remained in the art room, carving until the sun set.

Lou Fei’Er and Jin Yue originally patrolled together but found nothing happening, so they took turns patrolling.

Lou Fei’Er occasionally came by to tease Zeng Tao. But later, things turned around when she was pinned to the ground unexpectedly by Zeng Tao, who pretended to be weak and suddenly overpowered her, paying back all the previous antics she did to Zeng Tao.

That scream made even Xu Xin from the third floor feel a bit sorry for her.

Qin Fu, after sleeping for a day and a night, finally woke up.

He recounted his experiences to Xu Xin, but actually, there wasn’t anything particularly noteworthy.

They could only act cautiously, guarding against the possible impending attack from the trolls.

However, Xu Xin felt that trolls likely wouldn’t come, at least not during the day.

After all, like humans, their skin is exposed to the outside; they probably couldn’t withstand the fierce sunlight either.

Number One returned time and again, bringing back lots of green-grade and blue-grade copper ore, but unfortunately, none of purple-grade.

Though, that’s no matter, as ore can be upgraded using the treehouse core.

As time passed minute by minute, soon it was eight in the evening.

The sun finally sank below the horizon, leaving the sky completely dark.

Xu Xin put down the carving knife and gently rubbed Keke’s little head, resting on his lap.

The main event of the day was at hand.
