Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 760: Chapter 481: Are You Crazy? (5200 words)

”Shi Wanyun?” Li Wenxi also glanced over and then exclaimed in surprise, ”Is she only coming back now?”

”Seems like it.” Xu Xin directly picked up the call.

”Hello?” On the other side, Shi Wanyun’s voice came through. ”I’m in the treehouse now.”

Her voice sounded extraordinarily exhausted and weak, making one quite curious about what she had gone through.

Xu Xin glanced at the time.

The time was stuck at ten in the morning.

She just barely made it within the deadline.

A few minutes later, she might not have made it back.

”That’s cutting it really close,” Xu Xin sighed and then asked, ”Are you injured? Did you use up all three of the pills I gave you?”

”Yeah, I used them all...” On the other end, there was a tone he couldn’t quite decipher, ”But... I’m not injured now.”

Li Wenxi, sitting beside, had a curious look on her face but didn’t say anything.

”...Sorry, I can’t return those items to you, but I will compensate you,” Shi Wanyun’s voice was full of apology.

”What happened? Were they damaged?”

Xu Xin wasn’t too surprised; after all, the area was teeming with high-level mutant creatures, and even a full set of purple-grade gear might not last long.

Not to mention, she climbed up that giant tree.

”...No, but...” Her tone was hesitant, but she finally spoke out, ”They were left there.”

Not damaged, but left there?

”What do you mean?” Xu Xin’s eyes narrowed slightly.

He knew Shi Wanyun had climbed that giant tree.

Could it be something that happened up there?

”Sigh... Some things are complicated to explain... The journey to the roots, I followed your suggestion, and it was quite easy, but after that...”

As she spoke, she stopped.

”What happened?” Xu Xin immediately asked.

”Can I take a break first...” Her voice sounded increasingly weak, ”My mental state is terrible, my mind’s a mess... Let me rest a bit, then I’ll tell you, okay...”

She even added a touch of pleading to her tone.

Her tone indeed sounded so weak as if she would collapse any moment.

Has staying awake for forty-eight hours made her this weak?

What exactly did she go through?

Xu Xin was immensely curious about her situation and experiences, but considering her condition, which seemed like she might faint at any moment, he could only shake his head helplessly.

She naturally had a soft voice, which now sounded incredibly weak, making one feel she was on her deathbed, giving her last words.

Forget it.

This woman seems to be the type to repay kindness, otherwise, she could have just returned to the treehouse and rested immediately instead of contacting me first thing.

Even Li Wenxi, sitting beside her, felt a bit sympathetic, tugging on Xu Xin’s sleeve, not wanting him to push her any further.

”Alright, you get some rest first.” Xu Xin said, ”Once you’ve rested, tell me about your experiences. You promised me, don’t go back on your word.”

”Thanks, I won’t...” came the slightly grateful voice from the other side, ”Then I’ll...”

”Do you need niter?” Xu Xin, seeing her so weak, felt a bit worried.

She was so weak, and it was the heat of summer; the temperature was going to continue rising at least until the afternoon, he was afraid she might just faint from the heat in her weakened state.

”...Niter?” Shi Wanyun seemed a bit confused.

”You must be feeling quite hot right now, right?” Xu Xin asked.

”...Hot? Ah, it is a bit hot...” she exhaled a breath.

Was she so weak that even her mind had become sluggish?

”Niter can keep you a lot cooler,” Li Wenxi spoke up from the side, ”Your treehouse also has temperature control, so it can be quite cool.”

Li Wenxi’s voice elicited a slight tone of surprise from the other end, then understanding, ”Is that... Li Wenxi?”

”It’s me.” Li Wenxi, leaning on Xu Xin’s shoulder, spoke to his watch.

”Actually, I didn’t... uh, thank you.” Shi Wanyun expressed gratitude, ”It is... indeed quite hot.”

Her soft voice gave the persistent impression that she might faint at any second.

Li Wenxi took out a piece of blue-grade niter and handed it to Xu Xin, who sent it over and explained its use.

”Thank you both.”

She thanked them again before hanging up.

Then Li Wenxi couldn’t help but say, ”What’s going on with Shi Wanyun?”

Xu Xin hadn’t explained in detail to the other explorers about Shi Wanyun’s situation; he merely told them he helped her out a bit, so Li Wenxi was also unaware.

”It’s like this...” Xu Xin began to explain what he knew.

Of course, what he knew was actually quite limited.

...

In a location very far from them, there was a thriving purple-grade treehouse.

This treehouse had a total of five floors.

If Xu Xin saw it, he would definitely be very surprised because even his treehouse only had four floors.

Of course, Xu Xin’s treehouse had the banyan tree’s support, making the first and second floors much larger, whereas each floor of this treehouse was a hundred square meters, the normal size for a purple-grade treehouse.

On the third floor of the treehouse, a woman lay on the bed in one of the bedrooms.
