Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 790: Chapter 491: The Strange Situation at Night (4600 Words)

Beside them, the two others were already drenched in sweat except for Xu Xin.

”Ugh... it’s so hot. Let’s cool down the treehouse,” Li Wenxi said, wiping the sweat off her forehead.

”Ah...” Xu Xin suddenly remembered that the current temperature inside wasn’t something they could endure for long.

No normal person could withstand a temperature of forty-five or forty-six degrees inside.

At this moment, the blue nitrate in the basin had completely crystallized into a powder.

As long as water was added, the surrounding temperature would drop.

Looking at the blue powder, Xu Xin suddenly had an idea.

He always used blue nitrate before. In his treehouse, the blue nitrate used for cooling was consumed very slowly; to this day, he hadn’t completely used up a single piece of blue nitrate, not even one piece had noticeably shrunk, so this was his first time seeing the powder formed after blue nitrate dissolved.

If it’s this powder...

Compared to the block-like nitrate, would this powder dissolve rapidly, absorbing a lot of heat and cooling quickly?

It might actually be possible.

...Let’s not use it for now; it might be useful later.

Xu Xin put the basin away and took out another basin of water, throwing two pieces of nitrate into it.

The surrounding temperature began to slowly drop.

At this moment, having taken a pill, now peeling the blue orange with his condition mostly recovered, he was eyeing Li Wenxi.

”Wenxi, how come you feel...” she looked at Li Wenxi, sensing something amiss, her thoughts even brought a slight blush to her cheeks.

”Ah? Ah... hehe!” Li Wenxi chuckled, ”How about it, don’t I seem very approachable today?”

”Mm, it really does a bit,” Li Yajun nodded honestly.

”Hehe, because today I have...” Li Wenxi explained to her.

”It can actually be like this!” Li Yajun was extremely surprised.

”Alright, discuss this later among yourselves. Has anything happened around here lately?” Xu Xin asked Li Yajun.

Li Yajun shook her head, saying, ”Nothing has happened at all. Last night, I went to sleep after two in the morning, and before that, indeed, nothing happened. But...”

Li Yajun glanced at the basin, a hint of confusion in her eyes.

”What’s wrong?” Li Wenxi asked.

”Hmm... I came over around ten last night, chose this small bedroom of yours, and used two pieces of blue nitrate for cooling. Until around two in the morning, those two pieces of nitrate ran out.”

Saying this, Li Yajun took out a basin of somewhat murky water from her backpack, the water that had dissolved the nitrate.

”Oh?” Xu Xin caught the meaning in her words, ”So, you’re saying these two pieces of blue nitrate held for four hours from ten to two in the night?”

”Lasted quite a while. I thought it needed changing every two hours,” Li Wenxi said, surprised.

Qi Xuefei had told her that her cultivation room needed a change every two hours to maintain temperature.

However, that was because Qi Xuefei’s cultivation room was large and needed changes every two hours only during the noontime highest temperature of sixty degrees.

In this ten square meter small bedroom, at night, changing blocks every four hours was indeed sufficient.

”Right.” Li Yajun stuffed a piece of orange in her mouth, chewing while pondering, slightly puzzled, ”It’s not yet six in the morning, right? It’s less than four hours since I went to sleep? And to prevent issues from too little nitrate, I added three pieces, but...”

Upon hearing this, Xu Xin understood something was amiss.

The timing of nitrate consumption didn’t match.

From ten to the early morning two, two pieces of blue nitrate kept the room cool for four hours.

His first voice message to Li Wenxi’s treehouse was only after five.

By then, Li Yajun couldn’t wake up, unable to answer the call.

The time from two in the morning to five in the morning was only three hours.

Moreover, Li Yajun wouldn’t instantly suffer from heatstroke the moment room temperature rose, unable to wake up?

This still required some time to settle.

It means the additional three pieces of blue nitrate used later lasted only about two hours before depleting.

...Why?

Li Wenxi realized, ”Eh? The timing is indeed off... But, I told you, how could cautious Yajun make mistakes because of such things.”

She pulled Li Yajun close: ”Wrongly blamed you!”

Li Yajun shook her head, ”It’s indeed my fault, lack of consideration. If not for you guys coming over, I probably would really...”

Yet she was also puzzled.

Why?

She had clearly added an extra piece.

”Couldn’t it be because nitrates have size differences and timing differences?” Li Wenxi speculated.

Li Yajun shook her head, ”No, though blue nitrates do differ in size somewhat, the difference is minimal, basically ignorable, plus I added an extra piece.”

”Then... even with an extra piece, the speed is similar, just making the temperature even lower?” Li Wenxi argued.

”Even so, it wouldn’t differ this much,” Xu Xin shook his head, dismissing the idea.

”Hmm... indeed, this difference is too much...”
