Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 898: Chapter 694: Finally Able to Poach Talent from Neverwinter

At the first moment the Undead Tribe successfully occupied Luskan, the Temporal Artifact in the Alchemy Hall hurried to devour a large number of Crystal Stones to create a duplicate of itself; however, the Crystal Stones consumed were not from William’s small box.

After acquiring that box which appeared small yet held vast space, the Temporal Artifact used the energy from those Crystal Stones to establish a small space teleportation tunnel, using the location of a space-time Elemental Spirit within the Elemental Realm as a transit point, directly connecting to the Divine Kingdom of the God of Time and Space.

Even though the Divine Kingdom of the God of Time and Space is closed, it doesn’t mean William cannot enter. Although they finally have some distinctions, they are still as inseparable as some telepathic twins.

In this way, even if the space on Toril’s side is unstable, items can be temporarily stored in the Elemental Realm for a while.

The space tunnel isn’t large, but it’s sufficient to send Energy Baryte to the Temporal Artifact, even enough for it to create a small duplicate.

Then this artifact let Marsha inform Hill, hoping he could provide a Magic Tower Core capable of controlling a city along with some accompanying Puppets and send them to Luskan.

The stability needed by that city is not something the Undead Tribe can provide. The establishment of order has never been related to them, even if they comply with it.

As for Laila, the Temporal Artifact believes that if she can achieve half of what Lynn can, it would be good enough; management capability has little to do with combat power, however, Toril... assesses rulers based on combat power.

Moreover, the most crucial point is... the Temporal Artifact has no intention of cooperating with others at all, unwilling to let the new world it painstakingly pioneers eventually become another place like Deepwater City or Neverwinter ruled by Toril people.

The artifact, almost considered a shard of the God of Time and Space, doesn’t like such a future at all.

Hill is much better... Maybe it’s a natural connection to nature, his many actions align with the God of Time and Space’s wishes. Sometimes, it even hopes William could learn Hill’s composure and seriousness, and not explode when facing issues.

The God of Time and Space can actually tolerate various personalities within other planar communities, even understanding when someone becomes a criminal. Living in different environments, it’s normal for people to change for survival.

Only William... cannot understand how a soul identical to its own can develop such a personality... Clearly, there isn’t much difference in overall direction, but the details differ greatly.

This always gave the God of Time and Space a peculiar feeling: if it lived in the flourishing era, perhaps its personality would also become so unconcerned with the minutiae.

The Temporal Artifact completely understands its Main God’s small qualms, and while it hasn’t interacted much with Hill, it discovered that his resolute attitude in problem-solving is rather gentle. His attitude toward alliances is serious and amicable, preferring everything to be clear and transparent.

Such a work attitude satisfies the ever-consistent Temporal Artifact to the point of tears of joy!

William already lets loose himself enough, and that Coron... is simply like a flea, always leaping at any event, and every idea burns through hundreds of tons of Energy Baryte!

However, after analyzing those chaotic ideas concocted by Coron, the Temporal Artifact found that they indeed achieve his goals.

How to say... the conclusion he reached after burning through a heap of Crystal Stones surprisingly aligns with the visceral reactions of a certain Father of Elves.

But... even knowing that Coron’s decisions might not be wrong, the Temporal Artifact cannot avoid calculating! That’s the mission it was created for!

Hill practically is an angel in this respect... always handling matters transparently, clearly explaining both the baseline and the maximum he can bear.

Moreover, Lynn is a very good executor, rarely wasting energy on handling minor daily affairs, completing everything according to the rules without any sudden whims.

Although the result of the Magicplague seems rather tragic, this is truly the most comfortable period since leaving Teraxil!

That Laila... Being able to mingle quickly with the Undead Tribe, and being the Chosen of the Goddess of Magic, knowing the current time, just imagine how much trouble that brings.

Fortunately, from the start, Luskan’s conspiracy against Agleya was unearthed from the mobs of Deepwater City... Those guys indeed intended to act on Agleya City after taking over Neverwinter. Who knows where they got the courage?

Perhaps from the rebels in Neverwinter?

Hill’s reality of tearing dragons apart didn’t awaken them from those illusory dreams at all!

Anyway, the Undead Tribe stated long ago that this battle was to avenge Hill, eliminate threats and expand territories. It’s just that Agleya City lacks sufficient official reserves, so Hill plans to appoint a willing Toril person as the steward of Luskan.

In a unique territory belonging to a Great Nobility like Toril, municipal officers in cities basically perform the role of noble stewards.

In fact, some people in Agleya City have approached various Undead Tribe families to form connections for this municipal officer position; if not for Laila’s sudden emergence, someone might have succeeded!

The Temporal Artifact floated in the Alchemy Hall, watching Marsha send off her avatar, feeling a strange sense of destiny: He had originally thought his first avatar would appear in the Supreme Forest, but all of Coron’s crafty calculations were destroyed by this sudden incident.

On the contrary, Hill, who never had much ambition, found his territory growing larger and larger.

Hill, upon receiving the notification, didn’t think much of it. If it were any other place, he might worry about affecting some major events in Toril, but Luskan... what use are pirates?

If not for the perpetually cold and faintly antagonistic relationship between Deepwater City and Agleya City, this city would have turned into ruins due to a whimsical lord of Deepwater City. When real trouble arises, the pirates would simply flee for their lives, how could they possibly defend the city diligently?

He actually had a dozen high-level Tower Spirits in his hands that hadn’t been activated yet.

This could already be considered a specialty of Teraxil. Perhaps it was because the concentration of Elements in the past world was terrifyingly high, hence the emergence of such high-energy Tower Spirits.

In Toril, to create something similar, even a low-level Tower Spirit, would consume more than ten times the resources needed in Teraxil.

And at the high-level, it was nearly a hundred times more, unless resources were extraordinarily abundant, or with the aid of divine power, otherwise there was really no value in creating such high-level Tower Spirits in Toril.

Hill also inquired about the research on Tower Spirits here, where mid-level Tower Spirits seemed to be their limit.

Like Marsha, an intelligence core that can easily manage a city, is truly rare.

Hill pondered for a while, and found a product from his initial attempts at creating high-level Tower Spirits. Compared to Marsha, which had been upgraded several times, its intelligence was much less.

Then he went to the Alchemy Laboratory, first had List input various city management knowledge into the Tower Spirit that Hill named Lucy, and then encapsulated some Runes that constituted a Magic Array with Energy Baryte.

This way, as long as the Undead Tribe first carves the public Magic Array on the outskirts, and then awaken Lucy in the center of the town, she can directly take over the management of the entire city.

Before that, it’s best to have various houses and buildings constructed. Hill let List choose some suitable buildings from the various structures previously sold to him by the Undead Tribe, to form a small white seaside city.

He still remembered Luskan, once called the City of a Thousand Sails... many small seaside towns from Greece or Italy seem quite suitable.

Although List’s choice might be somewhat standardized, Hill didn’t intend to invest much effort into Luskan. After he leaves Toril, and as the Undead Tribe gradually stops coming, the future of this city may not necessarily still belong to him.

After issuing various tasks, Hill confirmed he would arrive in Luskan in seven days to usher in the new birth of the city and appoint Laila as the municipal officer of the small city of Luskan.

After this city capture battle concluded, the Undead Tribe approved the mayor candidate proposed by the Black Rose with seventy percent of the support.

Laila was too beautiful... commanding the Black Rose in front of the Magic Tower, her valiant demeanor made the Undead Tribe who watched the broadcast surrender instantly, with no room for dissent.

As for other families’ champion candidates...

Heh~ Who cares how bravely they fought?

Beautiful big sister is the truth! Moreover, beside her stood a noble lady and a cute, stubborn little loli...

They merely made the choice any normal person would make.

Hill rather sensibly informed those families that lost, if the candidates were still interested, they could become officials in Luskan.

Indeed, the majority were willing to stay in Luskan. After all, shifting from being an Adventurer to an official was the best path for many Professionals in Toril.

Hill decided to make Lucy appear in Luskan in an auxiliary capacity, rather than being fully in charge like Marsha... this way, the Energy Baryte stored beside the intelligence core would be enough for Lucy to consume for hundreds of years.

If any issues arise... with Lucy’s loyalty, she would certainly resist, but Hill believed that within a few hundred years, with him and Agleya present, they should still be able to safeguard Luskan.

When the time comes that they cannot, even if Luskan falls into someone else’s hands, and no one knows how to replenish the crystal, the energy should almost be depleted, preventing Lucy from having to self-destruct the core in resistance, and simply putting her to sleep would be fine.

He believed that Agleya City would never have a problem, at which point Lynn could take over.

With everything ready, Hill had Marsha inform the Paladins of the Tyr Temple that if they truly wished to combat the half-orcs, they could set out for Luskan now, sparing themselves from being belittled in Neverwinter.
