Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 887: Chapter 683: The Silver-White Space Tree

Hill’s expression slightly changed, which meant that from now on, the Toril Gods could once again exert influence over the world.

While a direct descent as in the past might still be impossible, they could now communicate with believers, and even send small items into the Prime Material Plane.

This wasn’t bad, at least it allowed some places to catch a breath.

I wonder if Neverwinter, which has been bustling with activity, will fare any better. Over the past year, fortunately, Tyr’s priests were mostly warrior-types, with the majority also serving as Paladins. Even without using Divine Arts, they could fight on the front lines.

Compared to Tyr’s support, they needed more to feel Tyr’s presence, as that was their spiritual pillar.

As for healing, they could use Holy Water... every now and then, the Paladins of the Silver Shield would ride their Pegasi to the Agleya Temple to fill a few jars.

Tyr’s Paladins, seasoned in battle, had no inexplicable arrogance and would certainly not refuse Holy Water made by other deities.

At times like this, having something to use is already good enough.

It’s important to know that other parts of the Ferun Great Land were also engaged in conflicts. Opportunists wanted to take advantage of the gods’ preoccupation to create big events, but they didn’t have such luck, as the price of Healing Potions soared across the continent.

Thinking about the Ferun Great Land, now a chaotic mess, Hill softly asked William sitting opposite him, ”If I plant the tree, can the Undead Tribe immediately come over?”

William gave him a positive answer, ”Yes. Actually, the space passage can already be opened, it’s just a bit unstable. Coron said that tree might not look much different from other trees, but it’s actually a manifest wondrous object of Space Law.

It’s something he acquired during his travels in other universes, a rare good thing even the World Tree finds scarce.

When the seedling sprouts and grows in Teraxil, once it reaches a height of 1 meter, it can be transplanted to Toril.

In the future, this tree will have its trunk in Toril while its roots can traverse space to extend to Teraxil.

Even if Toril explodes again, as long as you can maintain space stability like this time on the Agleya City side, the Undead Tribe won’t fall or be kicked out of Toril again.”

Hill automatically ignored his misspoken words and his prediction of Midnight’s next death.

He also remembered... this Goddess of Magic had died multiple times.

He merely asked in a flat tone, ”Is there anything else I need to do? Besides, the current Toril is quite inconvenient for using spells. Things aren’t that stable here in Agleya City either. Spells below the Third Ring can be managed; many Divine Arts can’t be used, and the Weave affects priests even more. Few people know the arrangement of Divine Arts’ runes, and I see they can’t even cast a First Ring Divine Art.”

”It will be fine soon. Coron said it won’t exceed seven days.” William quickly answered, ”The bodies of the Undead Tribe are formed from elements. If it wasn’t sure that Toril could withstand that level of fluctuation, Coron wouldn’t let them come over.

The real trouble now in Toril is the Weave. Coron mentioned some time ago that spells transmitted through the Weave would become very unstable, with some magic runes suddenly being amplified, easily making it impossible for mages to sustain the spell formation due to insufficient magic power, resulting in magical backlash.

The most crucial point is that this time the Origin upheaval pulled the Shadow Weave into the lower layers of the Weave. The flow routes of spells were directly altered, and Mystra is absent. No other deities are capable of changing the varying thickness of the network.

Moreover, because the original owner of the Shadow Weave is unwilling to give up reclaiming power, the origin lines on the Weave constantly change in length, thickness, and weaving routes.

No one knows when it will stabilize.

However, what the Undead Tribe uses can only be considered spell-like abilities, which have little to do with the Weave. Their spells are fixed, more like using a magic scroll.

Coron did ask us to suppress the power of spells and Divine Arts to below the Sixth Ring, which isn’t much of a difference.”

Hill sighed: Toril’s mages might take decades to return to their peak.

William’s voice suddenly became unstable: ”Ah! Damn~ Hill... here... it’s going to cut off... I... Tyr sent some Crystal Stones... a Divine Artifact... please...”

He didn’t manage to finish his last words.

Hill smiled helplessly, looking down and asking the Temporal Artifact, ”Do you need to return to the Alchemy Hall? When the tree arrives, can I directly plant it in the garden in front of the hall?”

The Temporal Artifact quickly agreed.

Delivering this diamond-shaped crystal to the Alchemy Hall, Hill also took out several puppets to entrust to it for control. The previous ones had long been managed by Marsha to tend to the entire city.

Hill carefully counted the puppets in his warehouse while holding his pendant. Apart from a few high-level, legendary puppets whose bodies were reinforced with mithril by Hill, he had only a dozen ordinary puppets left!

Hill swiftly felt a sense of crisis rising in his heart.

Although the Toril World was in bad luck, Hill gained a small advantage as the blue Origin Power was restructuring the world, and the half-plane within Purwell absorbed a portion.

The half-plane that might have taken many years to form was almost ripe and ready.

Hill could not expect those little fairies, who have daily parties inside the Otherworldly Whale, to do any work; them cultivating flowers, grass, and trees would be a great help.

Disliking outsiders entering his domain, he could only make more puppets.

Hill searched through his warehouse and calculated the manpower needed inside the half-plane, realizing that he would likely spend this entire year in the Alchemy Workshop.

He recalled his past observations in Deepwater City, where, under certain influences, Kelben failed to recognize the identity of that little girl.

However, he couldn’t stop Sharol from taking her daughter into his Magic Tower. Since Laila had returned to the Black Staff Tower and didn’t want his fiery-tempered wife to turn against him, Kelben had no choice but to accept them.

No one could refuse when Laila stepped forward: Kelben’s sister’s child is important, but is Laila’s sister’s child any less significant?

But Laila can only ensure that this mother and daughter live without worry in the Black Staff Tower. Currently, the beautiful young girl Edna Maxwell’s situation resembles Yang Guo being brought to Peach Blossom Island by Guo Jing without a proper teacher; her mother, who is somewhat eccentric, is her only source of casual instruction.

Sharol is the typical mage who habitually relies on the Weave for casting spells, barely remembers any magic models herself. Rather than being taught by her, Edna is better off reading books on her own; at least, the magic books Sharol possesses are more complete than those in the Black Staff Tower’s library.

Moreover, the young girl has in her possession a very remarkable book on strange objects: Azuth Sect’s Encyclopedia of Magics.

This is a treasure that only the most devout priests and mages in the Azuth Sect can possess: it allows one to see the book sacrificed to Azuth, comprised of various spell compositions, in written form, and this magic book continues to automatically add pages daily, featuring recently offered command characters, mystical phrases, and magical spells.

It was likely given to her by her father before he left.

Edna is very cautious; unless she is sure she can be alone for a long time, she never takes it out nor reads it inside the Magic Tower.

In the past year, Hill noticed she had looked at the book only twice, seemingly needing to confirm some perplexing spell knowledge, both times when she accompanied Laila and the twins on outings, taking advantage of the women being distracted by the playful twins to hide in the red-brown Wude Wood bushes to read.

The young girl, clad in a deep red robe, paid no mind to the spicy cinnamon scent of the Wude Wood, burying herself among its numerous fine branches and leaves, cautiously flipping through the book.

This made Hill certain that Archmage Maxwell must have told his daughter everything; Edna was very wary of Kelben.

Wondering when Edna would connect with the lingering consciousness within the Black Eye portrait!

If the wheels of history didn’t start turning, when the Undead Tribe arrives, these wheels might just explode.

The soap opera meticulously planned by the Tablets of Fate might suddenly turn into lighthearted comedy.

Hill considered it and thought it rather nice.

On the third day at dawn, Hill received a sapling and a small box sent by Coron, along with a small gift package for Hill, presumably as compensation for the trouble Coron caused Hill.

This Father of Elves never lets people work for free; he absolutely pays based on labor, making him an excellent client.

The white Pegasus that delivered the three items vanished into the brilliance of the Dawn without looking back, and Hill smiled faintly, knowing that having taken Oberon, the strongest force from the Little Fairy Court, only relying on the Pegasus God’s power couldn’t protect the Shady Home.

Evidently, the Little Fairy Queen had still sought refuge with the Elf Deity System, where the prankster God Erwin Irashiel always had good relations with the Little Fairies.

Hill called Lynn and, together, carried the sapling and small box to the front yard of the Alchemy Hall.

Following the planting steps Coron had affixed to the sapling, Hill first dug a three-meter square large hole, then covered the opening with the Space Crystal from the small box, leaving only a 10*10 centimeter center, before planting the silvery sapling inside.

The silvery sapling swiftly grew taller and larger with the wind, soon transforming into a 20-meter tall silver transparent tree, and Hill could even see the silvery juice flowing within the trunk.

He then relocated six tall Dam Trees from his pendant and planted them around the perimeter of the Space Tree, using Dry Fragrant Trees as fences between each tree.

Constantly illuminated by the silver light emitted by the Space Tree, these precious large trees could eventually transform into Treants with spatial power, providing greater security for Agleya City in the future.

Even if Hill were not in Toril, the presence of these Treants could stabilize the entire city’s space.
