Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 889: Chapter 685: The Return of the Undead Tribe

Hill picked up the mithril leather glove again and observed it carefully for a while. The leather seemed to be some sort of dragon skin... a bit like that of an ancient dragon.

However, he couldn’t quite figure out its effects. After thinking for a moment, Hill simply put on the glove to directly feel the effect of the equipment.

Then his face darkened: This is a very precious dwarven artifact, an enhanced version of the striking gauntlet, obviously the work of a certain dwarf god, of a slightly higher level than the masterworks worth 50,000 gold coins popular in Toril.

Apart from the power the artifact itself can bring, this mithril gauntlet can also double the user’s strength.

Coron’s meaning was clear: Aren’t you tired of striking dragons? Why bother doing it yourself?

Even if you have enough strength, there’s no need to exhaust yourself, risking burning yourself with the corrosive dragon blood.

This is like offering Hill a cup of detoxifying water to clear his mind!

Although Hill could sense Coron’s good intentions, he didn’t feel particularly pleased about it.

His skin... isn’t it just as tough as dragon hide!

Let those dragons take a spin in an elemental storm and see how many can come out unscathed?

Hill sneered, angrily tapping the gauntlet on the table: ”I’m a mage! I’m a magician! I absolutely won’t walk around wearing warrior gauntlets!

What was Coron thinking!

List, put this thing away in the warehouse!”

”Sir.” List was silent for a moment before speaking, ”To the elves, you have always seemed to be trying to conceal your strength, after all, you always hide from outsiders when killing those dragons.

I think Father of Elves just intended to help you. Next time something comes up, wearing this gauntlet, no one would think there’s anything wrong with your strength.

But, the wine glass does seem a bit prankish.”

Hill said in a daze, ”No, I just wanted to lure some fools to kill more...”

If he really wanted to hide, he surely wouldn’t even show it to the elves!

Not to mention, there’s still a silly ancient green dragon in the cave! Once she goes out, Hill’s power can’t be hidden.

Wait a moment!

”List... the green dragon won’t starve to death, will she?” Hill scratched his head, remembering he had taken away Claujeliatmata’s storage ring.

”Sir, Claujeliatmata is a druid. She can use the divine berry technique.” List answered.

”But druids can’t use divine arts! Moreover, divine arts need materials. I... seem to have only left her some moss.” Hill said softly, ”List, let the puppet send some cooked meat dishes to me... and bring two roast suckling pigs as well.”

Hill never intended to torture the prisoners!

His attitude toward enemies has always been to deal with them directly, never interested in keeping someone for torture.

With such leisure time, wouldn’t it be better to do something else?

Hill really just forgot, dragons are not purely spellcasters; they need meat to eat.

Although there are dragons in his household...

Ever since raising livestock in the Sword Mountain Range, Hill never cared about what Terry eats, since Agleya has life golems everywhere to help process food for him.

The same went for when Tasding came; as Terry’s good friend, Hill assigned the hospitality duties to the little golden dragon.

And to the Tower Spirit, the enemy’s safety was never within their realm of concern, so they didn’t remind him at all.

Hill took the food box delivered by List and walked directly to the cave where Claujeliatmata was imprisoned, and forcefully pushed open the door.

It seemed the green dragon had struggled; the bloodstains on the mithril gate were quite noticeable.

Hill looked down at the green dragon lying weakly at the bottom of the cave and laughed: ”For a giant dragon to starve to death, it would take decades, right?”

He tossed the small box down and pressed a Condensed Water Pearl into the cave wall: ”This food is enough for you to eat for a month. If by then, no one has come to redeem you, there’s no need to waste my resources.”

”They... even if they come... will wait until I’m nearly dead...” Claujeliatmata said in a hoarse voice. ”And they have to... attempt to attack... your territory first... before saying anything.

But... I... know... it’s useless... You actually wrapped the black iron gate in mithril! Too much money, huh? I can’t even break open the black iron gate!”

Perhaps thinking about her rage, Claujeliatmata forgot about her weakened body, her last few words shouted out in fury.

Hill hesitated for a moment, touching the large door beside him.

Claujeliatmata seemed to believe the door was iron wrapped in mithril, already angry thinking the door wasn’t worth using to imprison her when she was such a dragon. If she knew it was a solid mithril gate, would she go mad with rage?

Hill decided to quietly close the door, and the next time he comes, add a layer of black iron on the door.

Claujeliatmata suddenly asked, ”If... I become your mount... can I get the mithril on these two doors? As for the rest... as long as... I’m full... that’s all.”

The loudly closing door concealed Hill’s surprised face: Dragons, these creatures, are just too straightforward, aren’t they?

The Chromatic Dragons are creatures prone to betrayal, so if they are to serve as mounts for humans, a Dragon Covenant must be signed. This is a loyalty contract witnessed by the Nine-Headed Dragon God, and once signed, even the Chromatic Dragon Queen herself cannot break it.

Claujeliatmata is a particularly shrewd dragon, and she must know that becoming a human mount would inevitably involve certain constraints.

Moreover, Hill made it very clear that as long as the Dragon Worship Church pays, he will release her.

What about Claujeliatmata’s grand dream of becoming the lord of Deepwater City?

Could this little amount of mithril really make her swallow all her past ambitions and aspirations?

Was Claujeliatmata lying before? Could she have known that these two gates are made of mithril?

Hill leisurely walked out of the cave, truly missing the Natural Consciousness.

Hopefully, when the Undead Tribe returns, the Natural Consciousness of Toril will also be back.

Otherwise, with his emotional intelligence, he can’t even distinguish whether a dragon’s words are true or false... Hill really feels that, compared to past memories, having enough European luck, and the ability to sense hostility and judge authenticity, the Natural Consciousness is his real golden finger.

If he relied on himself... he would have been conned to death long ago.

Otherwise, he would just rely on his thick skin to avoid death and stay hidden in some deep mountain forest, away from people for life.

In this conflicted state of mind, Hill waited for the day the Undead Tribe returned to Toril.

For some unspeakable reasons, all the Undead Tribe members in Toril were refreshed in the infinitely expandable Alchemy Hall.

But before that, standing on the balcony, Hill was the first to welcome the return of the Natural Consciousness at dawn.

With infinite joy, he sincerely greeted the green light surrounding him, receiving a joyous response.

Though it only conveyed some feelings of longing, Hill was already very satisfied.

Being able to express some simple emotions, it seems the Natural Consciousness of Toril wasn’t severely harmed, only the Weave was unfortunate.

Hill flew to the port and called Purwell, who had been patrolling there, back: he could finally fly into the sky again.

Instructing the Otherworldly Whale to float at the top of the Space Tree, Hill stood at the forefront of the balcony on Purwell’s back, welcoming the first batch of Undead Tribe members to walk out of the Alchemy Hall.

Quick-handed and quick-eyed members of the Undead Tribe, almost sprinting out of the hall, felt the sky raining colorful bubbles.

”Welcome back to Agleya City!” Hill’s voice, filled with a smile, reached everyone’s ears, ”I hope you have a pleasant and comfortable journey this time.”

The Undead Tribe cheered: ”Hill~ Hill~ The most adorable Hill~”

”Ah! Is this the Blessing of the Bear? Is this the love we can receive?”

”When long-separated reunions come~ Hill’s gentle love~”

They had already discovered these floating bubbles were beneficial BUFFs, and everyone could grab one according to their needs.

Soon, they left Hill alone, shouting various things across the square, as the Undead Tribe members discussed what effect each color of bubble had.

Hill... though he was mentally prepared, still turned a bit dark-faced upon hearing it all.

Fortunately, he still heard what he wanted to know: how exactly did William explain the sudden disconnection during the update of Toril’s content patch to the Undead Tribe.

Undoubtedly, when the Undead Tribe gathers, they will discuss this matter.

This guy... as soon as he sensed something wrong, he directly had the God of Time and Space kick all the players offline, then blew up the server in his company for the Undead Tribe’s world.

As soon as Hill heard it, he knew... that server’s manufacturer must have severely offended William, otherwise, he wouldn’t push all the blame onto that company.

However, based on Hill’s understanding of William, that company must have had issues long ago.

Sure enough, throughout the discussions in the words of the Undead Tribe, they mentioned that William had asked that company to repair the server several times; because William’s company was new to the industry, not only did they fail to repair it, but they also got scammed for a lot of money.

Anyway... having blown up the server, William just accepted the bad luck, finally buying a more expensive server at the auction, one that the Undead Tribe said could be used for a planet’s intelligence core, and it took him only three days to complete all repairs and even update the content patch.

William, this guy, his style of doing things... is always so unrestrained.

Everyone was quite satisfied with the latest storyline and wanted to check out the Supreme Forest; the Undead Tribe really had Hell’s Gate on their minds.

Just as Hill was preparing to return to the castle, he suddenly saw a familiar face.

The Princess of Neverwinter, Airebis, who had once come to the Bhaal Temple in Agleya City, walked out of the gates of the Tyr Temple, surrounded by several Paladins.

Looking at their route, they seemed to be planning to find Lynn.

Princess Airebis saw Hill standing on the back of the Otherworldly Whale and seemed to want to greet him, but was stopped by the Paladin beside her.

The people of the Silver Shield were well aware that bypassing Lynn to directly find Hill for matters would only result in the opposite effect.

This lord of Agleya, really dislikes such overstepping behavior.
