Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 862: Chapter 658: The Future of the Supreme Forest

”Don’t worry... William can only use his mouth,” Hill said with a smile. ”He’s somewhat in a shared consciousness with the God of Time and Space, who is a very rigid person. William really has no private space, so he often says things recklessly.”

Lynn’s expression was sluggish as he tried to understand Hill’s words. What does it mean to only have a mouth...

Then, following Hill’s latter words, his mouth was left agape, unable to close for a while.

He quickly shook his head, unable to resist glancing at Hill. No wonder William spoke so casually; it seemed both sides were already used to it.

Hill didn’t care about Lynn’s gaze; he casually said, ”You know how sharp the Undead Tribe’s mouths are. As their leader, William’s mouth is the sharpest of the sharp. When he talks, just listen to the key points; don’t bother with the extras.”

Lynn nodded helplessly. He always thought the Elf Deity System was already free-spirited, but didn’t expect the Human God from another world to be so unique.

Hill propped his chin and said, ”I bought a lot of mid-to-high-end goods from Shoulong. Should I put them in the Magical Items store or open another shop?”

Lynn laughed softly, ”Hill, Agleya City no longer needs you to financially support it all. Not just the elves and humans, but the gnomes and dwarves have opened some shops after arriving, and the activation of the port has provided normal revenue for the municipality.

Though currently it’s because the Undead Tribe spends enough, I think as Agleya City gradually opens, it will get better and better. Even now, many Kind Alignment factions are starting to come from various places.

Compared to their secluded places, Agleya City is safer.

I’m trying to allocate the revenue from your specialty store to the city’s reserve fund, hoping one day it won’t burden you anymore.”

Hill blinked before saying, ”Lynn, that money means nothing to me. What I need can’t be bought with that little money.”

Lynn smiled, ”But I hope the city I manage is an assist to you, not a burden.”

As time passes by year after year, the encountered situations increase, and Lynn increasingly understands that Hill’s initial Agleya Town might not have been intended to grow so big from the start. From that summoning, it was all for Lynn.

Not because of luck, but Hill had foresight from the very beginning.

Though Hill only stayed in Silvermoon City for a year, as an Archmage, he must have witnessed more things than Lynn.

Back then, the attitudes of Mystra’s followers towards elves might have changed, but Lynn couldn’t see it from the countryside position. That librarian mage had no connections with the high society.

Thinking about the news heard a few days ago, Lynn couldn’t help but smile wryly.

The Sun Elf general in Silvermoon City, if not for following Elaströ to the Silvermoon Alliance, facing the newly appointed Dark Elf deputy by the City Lord would probably make him spitting blood from anger.

Though Lynn knows that the Dark Elf accepted by the surface should be a follower of the Dark Maiden, surely neutral or even Kind Alignment, no Sun Elf would want to cooperate with them.

Elves live too long; grudges are not ancestral accumulations. Every Sun Elf would have relatives and comrades killed by Dark Elves.

Moreover, the Lord of Silvermoon is very keen on letting more mages enter the high ranks of Silvermoon City. Silvermoon City is no longer a paradise for Half-Elves.

The status of Rangers and Bards has noticeably declined, which didn’t happen overnight. No wonder when Coron held the Bard’s Academy here, many of his colleagues came from Silvermoon City.

Lynn knows his own temperament, no matter how gentle his appearance, he still has the temperament of an elf. It’s just that his childhood displacement made him cherish whatever he obtained.

But if a mage mayor constantly glancing sideways showed up over him, regardless of his feelings for Quelva, Lynn would choose to give up.

That’s the racial nature, even knowing they’re being used can’t change it, much like the increasing number of elves and half-elves arriving recently.

Lynn took a sip of fruit wine, ”You should put those high-end goods in your specialty shop, then let Marsha only keep a certain percentage of money for the municipality as reserve, and keep the rest for yourself!

If the city government really lacks funds, I’ll come to you, rest assured, this is your city, I won’t sacrifice your interests for my face.”

Resolutely saying these words to Hill, Lynn then shifted to discussing the recent changes in Silvermoon City and the Silvermoon Alliance.

Hill listened as Lynn suddenly brought up matters of Silvermoon City, quickly understanding that this was likely Elaströ’s concession to that Goddess of Magic, completely handing Silvermoon City, under Mystra’s protection, to the current followers of Mystra.

”Elaströ didn’t suffer any loss,” Hill gently tapped Lynn, ”The current chaos wasn’t suitable for her to continue being upfront.

Her philosophy almost directly opposes her Main God.

Even if the current Goddess of Magic can’t strip her of her Chosen status, maintaining neutrality between her Main God and other deities looks too inappropriate.”

As for the current City Lord, he may truly follow Mystra, but the end might not be what he expects.

Silvermoon City is not solely owned by the Goddess of Magic; otherwise, the name would have already been changed.”

Lynn thought deeply and finally understood Hill’s meaning—his friend was more skeptical about Mystra than Elaströ.

He felt a bit disoriented, was Hill choosing human intelligence over divine insight?

However, Elaströ chose to give up the position of Silvermoon City Lord to become the thankless leader of the Silvermoon Alliance after the current Goddess of Magic stabilized her status!

Lynn shook his head helplessly, completely letting go of nostalgia for those past years of life, perhaps Elaströ foresaw today’s outcome back then?

He never doubted the political acumen of this lady—a strong figure who ruled such a place for hundreds of years surely could foresee developments decades later.

Even the Supreme Lady acquiesced to this Mage Lord’s rise to power! Elaströ must know how extreme his personality is.

This choice of sacrificing Bards and Rangers made Lynn finally understand how unreliable the words of politicians about kindness and perseverance could be.

Sacrificing the interests of some for the sake of greater interests sounds appealing, but no one wants to be the one sacrificed.

List had just finished organizing recent accounts and returned them to Lynn after confirming their accuracy.

Actually, Lynn always let Marsha record the territory’s financial condition. As List’s Subsidiary Tower Spirit, he almost immediately received all the latest data upon returning to Agleya City, but Lynn’s formal approach meant List had to show equal importance.

Satisfied, Lynn put away the account book and once again instructed Hill to change the revenue distribution ratio of the Magic Supplies store, preparing to go back. Recently, there were many territorial affairs, and quite a few large transactions; he, as the Mayor, rarely had such leisure time.

Then he saw Hill take out a large box.

Hill smiled happily, ”Lynn won’t think I’m just giving you a tree, right? Shoulong’s specialties aren’t only jade. Rest assured, I know your taste, they’re all mid-range goods.

The most important thing is, it’s a gift from dad and mom from the Star Mountain Range~”

Lynn was silent for a few seconds, feeling chills; Hill mimicked his mother’s tone so accurately, it was somewhat painful.

Had Hill become this familiar with his mother after only a few days in the Supreme Forest?

He suddenly had a sense of foreboding, and without hesitation, hugged the box ready to leave immediately, not even wanting to see what Hill’s so-called mid-range gift was.

”Ah! Taking the wrong Ruth-lute little Lynn is really cute!” But behind him, a gentle voice still echoed.

Lynn quickly fled out the door, escaping in haste.

Hill showed a satisfied smile, it wasn’t in vain to save this for last; Lynn would be very happy to see those few family photo albums that he had magically duplicated into the box, right?

Then he looked helplessly at the window and asked, ”Why act so sneakily, His Majesty Coron?”

”Lynn, this child, is a bit too serious.” The handsome Coron revealed his figure and half-lay on the large sofa in front of Hill’s desk, ”Whenever he sees me relaxed, the expression on his face is too obvious.”

”He grew up in the Star Mountain Range, where the Captain of the Guard is very devout to you, hearing words like ’great Elf creator’ too often.” Hill said faintly, a fallen idol is most tragic for the fans who see it.

”My Aevraestar’s Sword indeed!” Coron smiled with satisfaction, ”In the future, they won’t need to guard so strenuously.

I’ve already sent all the priests over there to follow Dragos to rebuild an Elf city in the Star Mountain Range. Once the spatial streams calm near the Supreme Forest, I’ll have the Elves go plant trees there.”

Hill turned to look at him; he had thought Coron would give up on the Supreme Forest, as space there was still more fragile than elsewhere.

”The spaces near the Supreme Forest are so easily utilized largely because of the Elves frequently opening Space Gates to other places over tens of thousands of years.” Coron sighed, ”Too many sins always need to be penalized. The thousand years of suffering of the Elves are the bitter consequences of their own past misdeeds.

The Supreme Forest can only be reconstructed by the Elves, it’s not like Hell Gate Fortress, where Humans once needed that place.”

Now, without Hell’s Gate, no Humans would be interested in that barren land. The Supreme Forest, swept by space storms, even lost the remnants of the Elf Empire.

Even Coron, in facing AO and the Tablets of Fate, had to carefully maneuver, daring not relax even a bit.
