Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 861: Chapter 657 Boring William

Not only Hill and Lynn, but most well-informed people also know that the leader of this Santarin, Lord Fuzor Cheberi, the Bishop of Bane, in order to become the unquestioned supreme leader of the Church of Bane, directly used the Eye Demon to brainwash most of the church’s high-ranking officials.

Many believers were sent to Meteorite Island in the Starry Sky to pray to the so-called Sacred Artifact of Bane, and those who prayed devoutly and sacrificed fearlessly did not even know that the deity responding warmly to them was an Eye Demon.

When they left that Meteorite Island again, they no longer had a will of their own and became loyal followers of Fuzor.

However, such a near-blasphemous person, because of his absolute control over the Santalin Meeting, spread the terror of Bane throughout the entire Ferun Great Land. Bane’s quick recovery to strong Divine Power is also related to the terrifying rule of the Santalin, so Bane didn’t care about the priest’s use of him.

It truly fits the definition of an Evil God; they only look at the results. As long as that guy hasn’t placed himself above the deities now, a priest who dies timely is still a good priest of Bane.

But this approach... Does Bane think that not many people know about this matter? However, there have long been Harpists infiltrating the Santalin system, and the top echelons of The North actually know this matter very well, and even most rulers on the Ferun Great Land are aware of it.

Comparatively, Hill still identifies more with the Princes of Shadow Soul City.

Although those Great Archmages who had to return to the Shadow Realm after a desperate fight must have gotten some promises, maybe it’s that people on the continent would find ways to pull them back from the Shadow Realm.

But as someone in a magical system profession, Hill understands that, compared to returning to Naish’s homeland, these Princes of Shadow Soul City are more likely to have their obsessions focused on the Nyscroll.

But frankly, when the Nyscroll was stolen by traitors, and all the Princes of Shadow Soul City were frantically searching for it, the fact that they would be willing to sacrifice their own interests to first attack Santir Fortress is truly surprising.

Santir Fortress was only wary of foreign Elves from Agleya City because, as a part of the same Evil Faction, they didn’t think the Undead from Shadow Soul City would choose to retaliate against them first.

Your own interests are the most important, aren’t they? What do the Evil Factions care about acts of great righteousness?

Yet they overlooked one thing: most of the Princes of Shadow Soul City had become Great Archmages before Naish was destroyed, so even though they turned into the Undead, they carved a hatred for Felin Magic Mallow onto their Lich Box.

”Although these Undead from Shadow Soul City are sneaky and ruthless, on this point they are still very admirable.” Hill shook his head, but such a Shadow Soul City is actually quite dangerous.

Fortunately, Hill is more curious about the Nyscroll than possessive, and after this incident, enemies like Shadow Soul City have become more terrifying.

An evil and cruel enemy is not frightening, but one with a steadfast will who can prioritize is quite daunting, as many plots and schemes easily fail against such enemies.

Hill didn’t say much more about these Princes; for the time being, they are not the focus of Agleya City.

Even Lynn and the others, after knowing that Myst Zhonoli has a missing Nyscroll, no longer speak of revenge against Shadow Soul City.

They are well aware that this time they are taking the blame for their ancestors.

Instead, it was the Tyranny God who made such a semi-divine ascension, considered a recognized joke on the Ferun Great Land, that made Hill and Lynn unable to hold back their laughter—Bane was courting his own death.

This semi-divine ascension made Bane’s consistent cruelty suddenly seem like he could be deceived—just like Baal. Although many fear crossing Baal directly, many dare to plot against him in the shadows, taking advantage of his resurrection for their own benefit.

Hill suspects that Bane’s brain was fried from being hunted, trying to find ways to divert a few deities following him, leading to such unwise choices.

If he doesn’t change the impression he’s given of himself on Ferun Great Land in time, another downfall is not impossible.

Unlike other deities, if Bane presents a loophole to be exploited, the number of deities willing to strike at him... Hill can’t even count them.

And compared to the Kind Alignment of Deities, the Evil Faction wants to kill Bane even more. In pursuit of the Tablets of Fate, he conducted too many frivolous maneuvers; at the very least, the ever-crazed little mind of Cyric perpetually harbors a grudge against the Tyranny God.

The Neutral and Kind Alignments of Deities consider more matters. It’s just because the recent Ferun Great Land doesn’t need those few deities to pay too much attention, they’re now so tirelessly pursuing Bane, astonishingly having chased him this far.

It’s quite impressive, at least it has forced Bane to a dead end.

Hill tilted his head in thought for a while, then asked, ”What about the Goddess of Silvermoon? Does she have any opinions on recent events?”

”The Silvermoon Cathedral of Deepwater City sent people to build a small chapel near the cemetery.” Lynn shook his head, ”Then there was nothing else. I also find it strange; with such big events recently, Suren hasn’t reacted, don’t know what she’s doing.”

Hill was somewhat hesitant, he was a bit concerned about Suren’s whereabouts, after all, the Goddess of Silvermoon is truly a rare friend and confidant to Lansendel.

But Suren is different from Lansendel; she has deep feelings for Toril and will certainly not leave this world easily, she must be planning something big again.

Hill sighed, Toril truly is a tempering ground for one’s will! It’s only been a few years, and he has already become indifferent to a deity’s possible reckless actions.

”There’s one more thing. After the university opened, some dwarves, gnomes, and halflings came here to study. But mostly in the Alchemy and Forging departments,

there are relatively few mages for now. Even if they are interested in Elven Magic, they have to consider the mood of the Goddess of Magic.

However, some Nature Mages have come, as Coron sent some excellent elf mages to teach here,” Lynn mused. ”An envoy came from Silvermoon City the other day, asking whether we could exchange mage expertise with them. I refused.

For the time being, Agleya City should not have any cooperation with the Chosen of the Goddess of Magic.

A few days ago, Kelben suddenly became the personal advisor of Queen Filfaeril Obarskyr of the Comyr Kingdom. According to the Comyr Royal Family, Kelben has long been the queen’s secret advisor; it was only officially made public now.

Coron is very unhappy... he cursed Mystra for a long time in the hall.

I can feel that he feels that by doing this, Mystra is essentially telling the Deity of Mages to go die soon!

Compared to Mystra, Coron is of course the better choice for us.”

Hill nodded. In the short term, the relationship between Coron and Mystra is beyond repair. He used to have a pretty good relationship with that Neutral Faction’s Deity of Mages.

After all, Coron also holds the divinity of magic.

Hill gazed out the window and sighed softly. Being so despised by his main god, the final fate of the Deity of Mages is actually already sealed.

Midnight’s disruption... in the end, besides having lost most of the normal human emotions, the greatest cost was borne by the Deity of Mages himself.

Back when Azuth chose Midnight to become the Goddess of Magic, he probably never thought about what consequences his actions would bring.

He regarded Midnight as his daughter with the previous Mystra, striving diligently to adapt to the changes between the current Mystra and the former one, but Midnight only wanted him dead.

However, even if Azuth fell, it wouldn’t be Kelben’s turn to ascend. He simply couldn’t win the recognition of most mages; even if he truly became a god in the end, he would only be an insignificant demigod in Mystra’s Divine Kingdom.

Compared to Kelben, Hill felt that in this grand chaos, the silent Elaströ might actually succeed in the end.

”Hill.” Lynn interrupted his contemplation, ”About the Swan Fairy matter, List has already informed me. I communicated with the Temporal Artifact...”

Hill noticed the look of embarrassment on Lynn’s face and quickly realized: ”Did the other party say something unpleasant? That must be William; his temper resembles the Undead Tribe a bit, often spewing nonsense and flirtatious remarks. Don’t worry about it too much.

Just relay his exact words to me. Sometimes the content of his words isn’t important; it’s his tone that matters.”

Lynn gave a bitter smile; that was a deity, yet he could be so... shameless.

He thought he had seen a lot. After all, Coron had made him more knowledgeable in recent times, but it was never like this.

He said softly, ”He asked me whether these little fairies are very beautiful, as otherwise, how could they make the usually aloof Hill bring back so many women at once!

He also said something like... does Hill like feathered creatures...”

”Nothing good comes out of a dog’s mouth!”

Hill pursed his lips, seemingly understanding that William was trying to tell him in this way that he was completely recovered, although his method was rather silly. After all this time, why did William still think he was a naïve, obedient child?

No, William just wanted to find out if Hill had changed much since arriving in Toril, as this world’s culture is much more open than Teraxil’s.

He was testing Hill’s bottom line. If Hill truly had any developments, Lynn, who knew nothing, would easily spill the beans.

For instance, by denying Hill’s preferences, William could find out if something was up with Hill.

This guy, why is he so tedious? Could it be that Adrian is with him?

”Ignore him.” Hill comforted Lynn. ”William sometimes gets overly excited and becomes very erratic. He must have experienced something good but doesn’t want to say it directly, so he ends up being so tedious.”

Lynn looked at Hill inexplicably; he truly couldn’t understand why someone would use such private topics to publicly mock their friends when encountering something good.

Hill smiled helplessly; William was just such a tedious person!
