Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 886: Chapter 682: The Contact Across the Crystal

Hill smiled wryly, knowing that the persistent Azuth might not be willing for Midnight to be resurrected from his direct descendants.

He and the former true Mystra were truly in love. He treated Midnight well only because he saw her as a continuation of his beloved’s career.

Not to mention the heirs carrying both their bloodlines; Azuth would definitely keep a close watch on them.

If the Tablets of Fate truly intended to harmonize the relationship between Midnight and Azuth in this way, it would likely backfire.

For thousands of years, Azuth and the former Mystra had countless ways to elevate their descendants to the rank of deities, yet they seemed to have chosen to let these children become freer mages, not even planning to announce this to the public.

Sometimes, even faint divine power or demigods indeed live with less freedom than legendary mages.

In fact, anyone who knows the identity of Leopold Maxwell would understand that Azuth’s descendant, who infiltrated Silvermoon City, certainly aims to promptly gather information on Midnight’s movements, especially... when dealing with mages within the Goddess of Magic’s sect who also worship Azuth.

After all, the archmage overseeing the Tower of Sagacity in Silvermoon City is someone Azuth trusts deeply.

If there’s any stir within the Goddess of Magic’s sect, Elaströ would be the first to respond.

Despite Kelben making waves, Elaströ is the true ruler of The North.

Even if she doesn’t partake in those petty affairs, she would have all information accurately and thoroughly, as evidenced by the metal dragons rescued by the Supreme Lady during the Year of Wandering Dragon.

Elaströ even knows about the bronze dragon hidden deep in Deepwater City and can provide timely assistance.

During that time, Kelben probably was still in a daze!

Although Azuth is willing to devote loyalty to the Goddess of Magic, it doesn’t mean he has no desire to live, so taking preventive measures is hardly unusual.

But his luck is really bad...

Hill looked at the little girl’s black and white eyes, sparkling with life, and sighed lightly.

Azuth would surely adore this great-granddaughter.

But the more he loves now... the angrier he will be once he learns the truth in the future.

And it’s no wonder that Lynn’s past friend doesn’t want to make things clear, what should they say?

What else is there to say?

Let the followers of the Father of Elves, who have no good relations with Mystra, see the thankless tasks they’ve undertaken?

After all, in the hidden rivalry between the Deity of Mages and Mystra, most people in Silvermoon City sided with Mystra.

Actually, everyone can understand this choice, as it’s about choosing between powerful divine power and lower rank divine power. Even those who stand on both sides are inclined towards Mystra’s side.

If it weren’t for the fact that Midnight, the Mystra of current times... just fell, this choice wouldn’t be wrong at all.

Such a sorrowful conclusion... they had just driven Azuth’s descendants out of The North, even expelling Elaströ’s own daughter, and Midnight was directly assassinated by Cyric.

The timing was so coincidental that they would think this mess distracted the current Mystra, leading to her misfortune.

Hill smiled as he reminded Lynn, ”Since we’ve guessed some things, you don’t need to inquire more... In the future, there’ll be some amusement to watch! How delightful, with Deepwater City so close.

I’ll try making a strange object that can see the center of Deepwater City.

It should be fine, at most the information transmission speed might be a bit slow and would need to be fixed in a concealed place.

By the way, I might send the white-throated birds to Deepwater City once.”

In the short term, Kelben won’t have the ability to detect those adorable small bells, even if Lynn and the others can’t see the situation over there, at least Hill has a chance.

The things seen by Lily of the Valley can all be synchronized to Hill’s mind; this is also a form of information transmission.

He wants to try if he can create a strange object that projects such images.

Anyway, they have nothing else to do in the short term.

Really fortunate... Deepwater City is less than 500 kilometers from Agleya City.

”Who knows when Coron will return!” Lynn sighed, thinking of the troublesome tasks ahead, he began to miss the Undead Tribe.

Unfortunately, manpower must still be organized for farming and tree planting; such a large lake shouldn’t be wasted.

It might drive him crazy.

Of course, Hill understands who Lynn is really thinking about; he smiled and replied, ”It won’t be long, if the Weave really can’t be used, All Gods will have to come up with other solutions, otherwise, Toril’s faith will quickly be lost.”

The conversation between Lynn and Hill was abruptly interrupted by a sudden booming sound, and the two hurriedly walked toward the terrace.

Marsha’s voice rang out directly: ”Sir, Lynn City Official, there’s a Mage in University Town who ignored warnings and used a Level Five Water Spell.

It caused a minor explosion and a spatial storm. I have sealed off the residence over there, please handle it promptly.”

Lynn sighed: ”Why can’t they just listen? I’ll head over right away.”

Watching Lynn jump from the Floating Castle onto the rooftop of the three-story building below and quickly leap towards University Town, Hill shook his head helplessly.

He didn’t find such incidents surprising; Mages are very self-centered people, and their curiosity is intense. If not for Hill, a Legendary Mage, issuing a ban on spell usage, they would have gone straight to Level Seven spells.

Hill figured the Mage tested with lower-tier Water Spells initially and succeeded several times before, so the surrounding Origin Power had become very unstable; otherwise, the reckless Mage’s head would have just exploded without causing a spatial storm.

It’s appropriate, as it serves as a lesson for other Mages eager to try their hand.

However, Hill thought his Puzzle Lock was indeed impressive. It managed to protect the spatial barrier of Agleya City to this extent during the space rupture, which flickered with dangerous blue light.

It seems as long as not many people simultaneously use spells, at the very least, spells from Level 0 to 2 can be used within the Puzzle Lock’s range.

For Levels 3 and 4, patience is still required. Although an incident didn’t occur during that Mage’s experiment, it’s likely because the Water Spell used was supportive in nature and had a simple spell model, continuing from a series starting at Level 0.

There are many reasons why most Mages choose to listen to Hill and refrain from using their own spells, but a significant one is that without the Weave’s assistance, most Toril Mages have probably long forgotten how to draw spell models... some people’s heads exploded not because Origin Power was unstable, but because they drew the spell model incorrectly.

The higher the level of the spell, the more complex the runes and lines. People who even trace from books incorrectly can’t possibly directly form a spell in their Mental Sea.

Hill actually remembered them all; he could even recite Alchemy Blueprints backward, and the spells he commonly used were firmly etched in his Mental Sea. However, he had no interest in becoming a guiding light for Toril Mages.

He preferred leaving it to those few adventurous Great Sages to handle!

While the whole world was in chaos, Agleya City enjoyed a period of calm.

Due to the Mages’ silence, the gangs in neighboring Deepwater City finally lived a smug life, though the Mages remained people not to be trifled with, even while silent.

Even lower-level Mages have some magic scrolls on hand.

No matter the level, whether the type is offensive, defensive, or even healing, if a magic scroll is thrown out and used, it can cause a very intense explosion.

As long as Mages stay home, their threat level is still significant.

Those harmed by these rampant gangs in Deepwater City were primarily the poor... Because magic couldn’t be used, the number of laborers and maids hired by merchants and nobles increased.

So, gangs began to charge exorbitant protection fees.

The powerless poor of Deepwater City once again fled en masse to Agleya City, and this time, they faced even greater risks, losing many lives to the Goblins and Gnoll People who frequently appeared on the road.

Yet, even so, they chose to flee.

And to the north of Agleya, Neverwinter City also began to suffer strong attacks from that group of Pirates in Luskan. Even the Paladins of the Silver Shield, after seeking Hill’s consent, went to support Neverwinter City.

Only Agleya City remained a place where hope could be found.

Coincidentally, Lynn wanted to develop the wilderness between the newly emerging large lake and Agleya City into farmland, so he took in these people.

Hill stood on the high balcony, looking at the small villages scattered across the vast farmland, almost finding it hard to believe that a year had passed.

The year 1377 of the Ferun Great Land arrived amidst chaos.

On the day spring plowing officially began, Hill saw the long-missing Temporal Artifact in his study.

This rhombus-shaped crystal floated slowly in front of Hill, flashing a silver glow continuously.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh, feeling as if someone was sending a pop-up message to him.

Placing his hand on the crystal, he heard William’s voice, filled with laughter, coming from the other side: ”Oh, Hill, long time no see. How have you been?”

”Long time no see, Your Majesty William,” Hill replied with a smile. ”How is it over there? Are the emotions of the Undead Tribe stable?”

”No need to worry about that issue...” William sighed. ”The God of Time and Space is ready to reconnect the timeline. For the Undead Tribe, only three days have passed.

Rest assured, I have a good reason to explain why three days have turned into a year in Teraxil and Toril.”

Hill asked in surprise, ”Can you already come to Toril? The Origin Power still doesn’t seem that stable, and the All Gods haven’t shown any movement!”

”Coron is even more anxious than I am. He just left the God of Time and Space a few days ago.

However, he seems to need you to plant a Space Tree in your city, which can become a connection point between Teraxil and Toril.

It should be delivered to you soon.”
