Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 881: Chapter 777: Lynn’s Famous Friend

Lynn watched the mother and daughter pair who had already boarded the carriage and were preparing to depart, and said softly, ”That girl looks only about seven or eight years old. When I look at her, there’s nothing particularly unusual I feel.

Deities... have a unique aura, something you can spot in a crowd immediately.

Currently, no matter how much I observe, she’s just a child.

Hill, does this mean that until she comes of age, many things won’t happen.”

Hill nodded, ”Yes.

The aura of the laws on her is slowly dissipating.

In a few days, it may no longer be noticeable.

In that case, it would be difficult for anyone to find any issues with her.

But Kelben is not necessarily so; his connection with Mystra must be quite close.

Yet before this Goddess recovers her memories, she might become a member of the Black Staff Tower.

If their relationship is really that good, she might even become a student of the Black Staff.

If Midnight is not willing internally, such a master-student relationship cannot be established.

The Origin Power will help her resolve any unwillingness in her heart.

However, we can at least discern one thing: even without recovering her memories, this Goddess subconsciously still trusts the Black Staff more.

That’s why she chose a host near Deepwater City, but didn’t expect the child she descended into happened to be at the port, and got caught in a space storm to Agleya City instead.”

He spoke lightly, but Lynn was a bit tense.

”Any accidents involving deities are not real accidents.” Lynn frowned tightly and said slowly, ”Hill, has the Tablets of Fate taken an interest in you?

Well, your strength is too great; if you were to protect the reincarnation of the Goddess of Magic, she would surely grow up safely.

Although granting favor to a goddess would bring rich rewards in the future, some things still need to be cautiously handled.

I recall you’ve always wanted to return to Teraxil?

If that’s the case, it’s best not to get involved with her.”

Hill laughed, actually no one is a fool... The little affairs of the Toril World, the wise ones see through it clearly.

”Don’t worry, I definitely won’t meddle in these affairs.” Hill thought for a moment, returning to the study and gently jumped up to take down a tightly sealed crystal ball from the ceiling.

Lynn glanced curiously, discovering a book sealed inside.

From the layers of seals, it’s easy to see the book’s danger.

Hill said with a meaningful smile, ”If on Kelben’s side, they have the audacity to plea for something concerning the future peace and stability of the world from Agleya City, send this to him.

Tell the wise Mr. Black Staff that not settling the account with him during the time when the Goddess of Magic can’t manage things is already me being kind enough.”

Lynn solemnly took the crystal ball, ”Has Kelben ever laid hands on you? Why didn’t you mention it? I always thought you were after him because he planned to target our territory.

Damn it!

What right does this guy have to lay hands on you?

Really, Mystra knows how to pick people!”

Lynn’s last words were spoken through gritted teeth; if it were anyone else, it’s possible they might have offended Kelben, but with Hill, it’s absolutely impossible.

Moreover, this should have happened before he arrived in Agleya, during that phase Hill’s territory was so small, he was fully devoted to helping the Goddess of the Sea establish faith, totally unlikely to have any conflict with Deepwater City.

The only reason Kelben could clash with Hill was because Agleya was right next to Deepwater City.

To fully support such a Chosen, what sort of bizarre thing is the kindness of that Goddess of Magic?

Hill waved a hand, ”It’s nothing strange, Midnight’s kindness is a joke to begin with, otherwise, she wouldn’t have wanted to go against the Deity of Mages.

If that deity truly fell, who knows how many cities in Toril would be destroyed! She couldn’t possibly be unaware of that.

The Deity of Mages indeed has his flaws, but those flaws... are far from deserving death.

The kindness of deities, ha!

That’s merely a matter of probability.

Given you’ve been around Miliel for so long, you should grasp this point.

He would sympathize with the disaster before him, but whether to lend a hand or watch indifferently, the chances are always fifty-fifty.

Everything depends on his mood.”

Lynn nodded silently.

Hill looked at Lynn and solemnly instructed, ”I actually retaliated in return, before you came here I did quite a few things, Kelben’s several failures were partly thanks to me.

I am unwilling to confront him directly, not out of fear of Mystra, but because this guy is clearly noticed by fate.

I do not wish to get entwined in such troublesome matters, so I side-stepped to retaliate in a rather complicated way.

Do not take any more actions.

Compared to me, you who belong to Toril are more easily dragged into this mess.

If anything happened to you, it would affect my decisions, Lynn.”

Lynn was startled and immediately spoke: ”I understand. Before that figure returns to the Starry Sky, I’ll try to avoid everything over there at Deepwater City.”

After that, no matter what happens, he firmly decided not to leave Agleya City.

Lynn made up his mind; he absolutely cannot affect Hill’s future.

When the Undead Tribe returns, everything will be fine, Lynn thought nostalgically. He truly felt that as long as the Undead Tribe is around, the Tablets of Fate would definitely steer clear of causing trouble in Agleya.

The Undead Tribe’s mind is a bit too unfathomable.

If they really got involved, the unpredictable nature of fate might be turned into a pure joke.

Lynn firmly believed in the Undead Tribe’s ability to break norms.

He glanced up at the distant cemetery of Suren’s followers.

Initially, the Undead Tribe kept roasting themselves just for fun, but later... They discovered that if they struggled from the Wall and survived, reaching three meters away from the Wall of Moonfire, they could continue living, as Suren had no intention to pursue them.

However, doing so would leave marks of moonfire burns on their bodies.

If Toril people possessed marks of Divine punishment, they would certainly strive to hide them, fearing others would see.

Yet the Undead Tribe felt it was an honor, often standing in the square to compare who had more beautiful silver marks on their bodies.

The locals of Agleya had actually grown accustomed to the craziness of the Undead Tribe, knowing they preferred excitement.

But this... it had already exceeded the level of excitement.

Fortunately, Suren’s character completely doesn’t see this as an offense; she might actually find it quite interesting.

If it were any other deity, they’d probably come to find Coron for a fight.

Lynn suddenly shook his head; based on his understanding of Coron, he would rather fight than ask the Undead Tribe to change their ways.

That figure actually finds it quite entertaining.

While Lynn was reminiscing about the Undead Tribe, Hill leaned on the sofa, a bit confused, and said, ”How come Elaströ’s descendants suddenly defected to Deepwater City? Did something fun... something strange happen over at Silvermoon City?”

Damn it, fell out with the Harpists too soon, tsk...”

Lynn twitched his lips; he realized Hill meant to say some fun had occurred.

But he had nothing to add; Elves inherit their curiosity from Coron, there’s not an Elf who doesn’t enjoy fun.

He was actually somewhat interested to know as well.

Elaströ always had many loves, but her children don’t get along well, especially the human children.

Compared to those Half-Elven sons, these children’s talents are much poorer. Some of them only become Professionals because of the many good things Elaströ possesses.

Especially those... children born of ordinary people occasionally brought into the Silver Palace due to their handsome appearance.

When former Mystra was still around, these two ladies indeed did many ridiculous things.

Like the Dragon Worship Leader who fell a few years ago, he was one of the grievances born from their play.

Elaströ lived quite happily, but for those children in the Silver Palace, the disparity of the world was almost determined at birth.

Having such a powerful mother, yet due to having an ordinary human father, makes it difficult even to become a Mid-level Professional, as they can only watch others stay forever young while they gradually age and even face death.

Lady Elaströ was actually not unkind to her children, but definitely would not consider their psychological issues.

In essence, only the strong can reach her.

Therefore, many troubles often arose at Elaströ’s palace, sometimes even successfully infiltrated by demons, all because of those unsatisfied children going mad.

Yet, these children of Elaströ wouldn’t easily leave Silvermoon City; nobody would easily give up a life of privilege.

So, if someone suddenly stays away, something significant must have happened.

At least to the extent that Elaströ herself must step in, making someone leave Silvermoon City involuntarily.

Lynn looked at Hill’s eager eyes and sighed helplessly: ”I’ll find a way to ask someone I know.”

Hill smiled contentedly.

He already knew that many of the Bards in The North raised a type of white-throated bird, fast, flying high, extremely stealthy, and most importantly, each bird has three feathers capable of storing information.

They never had a cylinder on their claws; many believed Bards raised these birds solely for their beautiful singing.

But this couldn’t fool Hill.

He knew Lynn and their secret long after touching these fluffy, round birds.

However, Lynn never intended to hide it; the few white-throated birds he raised often stayed in the garden of the Floating Castle when idle.

The fruits here have always been very attractive to them.

Lynn summoned a bird, held a feather, and recorded the message with concentration before directly telling it: ”Silvermoon City Poet Academy, Fokruken Hall, Emile Oxan, come back if there’s a reply.”

Hill suddenly looked up at Lynn.

The one he mentioned... isn’t Lynn’s teacher; he really didn’t expect honest-faced Lynn to have a friend teaching Bard techniques like that!

Though he didn’t stay long at Silvermoon City University, Emile Oxan’s prestigious name was well-known to Hill.

The art of animated rope isn’t taught by just anyone.
