Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 894: Chapter 690: The Strange Start of the Battle of Luskan

Hill thought for a while before saying, ”We’re hesitating now because we know who she is. But for those who don’t know, as long as their children make friends with a good person, they probably won’t interfere too much, right?

There won’t be any problems; it’s not like she’s made a friend from the Evil Faction.

The Sanda King... has always worked hard to maintain her Faction in the kind-hearted path for her profession... Moreover, she sticks to order quite well, though she occasionally uses her fists to maintain order... That lady wouldn’t feel such a good girl is unfit to befriend Edna.”

Laila wouldn’t be so meticulous about caring for Edna, as long as it’s confirmed the Sanda King is harmless, she probably won’t meddle much. As for Edna’s mother... she hasn’t even come over. Although one could say she’s leaving everything to the more capable Laila, at the very least, you can see that her love for her daughter isn’t too deep.

Sharol is probably the standard noble mother, with love that has its limits, even hugs have a fixed extent.

Lynn watched Hill with a baffled look; he finally realized that he and Hill were worried about entirely different matters.

Hill blinked, looking back sincerely, ”What is it? Even if Miss Edna ends up becoming quite fierce, it doesn’t matter!

Look at the Sanda King, isn’t she also someone who loves beauty and fashion while still being a very lovable girl?

As long as the appearances are decent... the girls from the Undead Tribe are good at putting up a facade regardless of their true nature.”

Lynn smiled helplessly, ”Do you think a conclusion like this is interesting?

Actually, I don’t care what her future demeanor will be, our own family’s... already hard to speak of.

But my worry is... some existences cannot accept such a Goddess of Magic, what if this incident happens again?”

Hill thought expressionlessly: Even the officially educated Midnight couldn’t gain recognition!

She died two or three times in the end, completely abandoned her humanity, took over her daughter’s form, and never spoke of love or family again, finally establishing herself in the Ferun Pantheon.

The current Midnight couldn’t do with such desperation.

So it’s better to learn some toughness from the Undead Tribe, and pursuing strength is more suitable than chasing after love.

”Those things... no one can meddle with,” Hill said coldly, ”Everyone should look after themselves! As long as we aren’t dragged into it, it’s fine.”

Lynn sighed softly, just as Hill said, in a place like Toril, the best way to keep oneself and family safe is to not get involved in those big issues.

”By the way, the ransom for the Green Dragon, see if there’s anything you want.” Hill smiled at Lynn, ”When you strike it rich, you should share some joy with friends, also, please pick something for Terry.

I’ll pass. I always unintentionally pick items for Terry that have educational value, it’s an old habit, and it’s a bit of a bummer for Terry.”

Hill’s biggest hobby in his past life was sending reference materials to school-attending relatives’ kids, especially study guides, buying ten or eight sets every year.

The worst time for a young man every year was being urged to marry by relatives during New Year, even though his parents felt the child was still immature and saw no need to rush, couldn’t withstand the curiosity of the aunts.

All he could do was take revenge on their children and grandchildren, turn New Year money into teaching materials, not cheap, and save them from buying on their own.

Every child who received a gift from Hill during New Year would have a grimace and be unhappy for the whole day.

Though often advised it’s not necessary to carry such heavy books all the way from the city to the countryside, Hill was a bucket carrier! That bit of weight could never outweigh his heart for revenge.

Actually, it wasn’t much, just some aftereffects.

The gifts he brought back for Terry from Shoulong last time, although valuable, were all beneficial for Terry’s practice.

Last time, Hill overheard Terry whispering to Tasding that he actually wanted some of those dazzling ornaments and jewelry being sold in the Magic Shop now.

The emeralds are valuable, but having nothing but those is a bit painful.

Terry was too embarrassed to say such things to Hill; it would seem ungrateful, yet as a Golden Dragon, he still had a natural love for glorious things.

Hill understood, but he felt he probably couldn’t manage it.

Although Lynn didn’t quite understand why Hill had such strange ideas, he readily agreed.

The remaining strange objects, Hill planned to let Li Si store in the warehouse, to be taken out and sold a few years later.

When Edna turns 16, who knows what the world will be like, but there will surely be many dangers.

Before that, Hill squeezed his fingers, better to first improve the clarity of this projection of his who wished to achieve the effect of an LCD TV but ended up as a CRT.

Agleya City shouldn’t have any issues lately, at most a scuffle with Luskan; Hill felt there’s completely no need to meddle, better focus on Alchemy production!

The God of Time and Space’s colossal screen... Sometimes divine power is truly unreasonable.

When autumn arrived, the Undead Tribe returned to help Agleya City with the harvest: Deepwater City had almost been cleared by them, leaving only small matters, and the compensation was not as much as what they got from harvesting wheat and corn.

Although Lynn took in some refugees, they did not even add up to 1000 people, which was far from enough to manage the fields of Agleya City that extended to the lake now renamed as Emerald Lake.

Lynn assigned each villager only 2 acres of subsistence land, while the rest was paid work, and all the harvested crops belonged to Agleya City.

In places where Hill was present, the crops were sure to grow well, not to mention that those Druids, even though they couldn’t use high-level divine arts, didn’t need any particularly powerful spell to take care of the farmland.

Agleya welcomed a bountiful harvest season.

Then Lynn received some very upsetting news.

Because the Just Knights had sent their relatives and some novice attendants to settle in Agleya City, even the Holy Knights of Heim followed suit. Both temples practically moved their pure priests over, almost amounting to a complete relocation to Agleya.

Therefore, Neverwinter believed... the Paladins helping them defend against pirates should not be provided food by Neverwinter.

Neverwinter argued that the Paladins were not safeguarding Neverwinter but the entire North, especially Agleya City, which was closest to them.

The Prince Ban, who had already ascended the throne, sent this letter, which could be considered a notification, asking Agleya City to take over the logistics for the two major temples.

After all, with winter approaching, they not only had to defend against pirate attacks but also the inevitable coming of half-orcs, simply unable to sustain this consumption.

They hoped Agleya City would not be too stingy for the continent’s safety, considering the last invasion by half-orcs turned the predecessor of Agleya City into the Undead Swamp.

This impolite and somewhat threatening letter sparked Lynn’s anger.

The moment he received the letter, he directly notified the Temple of Tyr and the newly built Temple of Heim beside it: unless unexpected, the Teraxil Elves would reclaim Luskan by winter, establishing a more comprehensive defense and keeping the half-orcs under the World’s Ridge.

Then he sent a copied version of the letter from Neverwinter over together.

Half a day later, the two temples replied that they were willing to assist in defending against the half-orcs once Luskan returned to the elves’ hands.

When Lynn informed Hill about these matters, he couldn’t help but gripe: ”Aren’t the Pirate Alliance and the Arcane Brotherhood long-standing notorious evildoers? Why can’t they just take action?”

”The commander of the Silver Shield is well-acquainted with the Undead Tribe, knowing they don’t really need them to intervene, in the end, it’d just be to show their presence over there,” Hill wasn’t surprised, ”There’s no need to provoke Tampas. He’s always sensitive about his territories.

Tyr and Heim have always been cautious in this area; no one wants to have someone dragging them down in a battle against evil.”

And Tampas would definitely do that.

Absolutely neutral, this thing is just not normal.

Lynn said somewhat sentimentally: ”But I always felt, if they had people there... Ban returned from the Stellar Realm, his first reaction would still be to find them trouble.”

Hill twitched his mouth: ”Don’t think about it, when Ban returned, he would definitely first trouble Shade Soul City. He never really cared much about Luskan, otherwise, he wouldn’t let a bunch of unruly pirates take control, the influence of the Red Robes there is even greater than his.”

”Will Sel send people?” Lynn asked the most critical question.

Sel had always valued Icewind Valley over there, and they have to import bone carvings and such bone products from the Northern Ten Towns for years.

”For the next ten years, don’t worry about the Red Robes,” Hill said indifferently.

During this Weave turmoil, the Red Robe Mages were gravely injured. Other mages, at most, due to the existence of the Shadow Weave, couldn’t control the spell effects when casting spells.

But for Sel, who used necromancy and liked using zombie skeletons, the terror of the Shadow Weave interweaving with the Weave was deeply felt.

Summoning skeletons leading to a Bone Dragon was considered a minor issue.

Using the Undead Canopy to suddenly bring about a scorching sun was truly bewildering...

It was completely normal for this to destroy an entire city.

They now genuinely needed to cautiously test the changes in the Weave from summoning skeletons, and if in ten years they could focus on foreign matters it would mean the capabilities of these Red Robe Mages from Sel were extraordinary.

Lynn knew Hill’s judgment on mages wouldn’t be wrong, and he happily went to mobilize the Undead Tribe.

Initially, Hill didn’t think there would be anything happening in this campaign.

Until he saw a figure that shouldn’t have appeared on a certain large ship.

The ’Old Age Striking King’ with Edna, who was wearing a little dress, sat at the prow of the ship with the peculiar flag bearing a Black Rose, and Laila stood behind them.
