Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 869: Chapter 665: Lynn’s Mysterious Father

Lynn swirled the wine in the front of his mouth, letting the tip of his tongue feel the various flavors, trying hard to analyze the special ingredients Hill had mentioned.

At first, he was smiling, but his expression slowly changed, with hesitation and wavering, as if something had startled him.

He swallowed the wine in his mouth and without hesitation, picked up the glass and drank it all in one go, then closed his eyes to feel the changes in his Mental Sea.

Hill watched curiously, did Lynn know what that special ingredient was?

Lynn slammed the wine glass heavily on the table, his face ashen as he looked at the ’Crystal Mystery’ bottle: ”How many bottles of this stuff do the elves there sell in a year?”

”This is of the highest grade, only 12 bottles a year, extremely expensive in price, no amount of Gold Coin can buy it, and only the King or a Legendary Mage is qualified to purchase,” Hill said a bit surprised, ”But this top-notch wine, people without a strong Mental Sea simply can’t drink it, even a little bit would intoxicate them to death.

Very few kings would buy this wine.

A few countries buy it back just to show off, after all, the price of one bottle is almost as much as a year’s national tax revenue.

It’s mostly the Legendary Mages who go to the elves to buy it, as they often stay in the starry sky, and have many good things on hand.

The Elven God King still demands precious materials from the starry sky.

I traded a Strange Object of Legendary Level to William for it, he has no interest in such luxury goods.

However, before William ascended the throne, Saral couldn’t afford this wine.

Later... the elves, for atonement for the future deities, gifted a few bottles to him.

William doesn’t like this kind of wine with a strong aroma, so he traded it all to me.

The lower-grade Crystal Mystery is relatively more common, with 180 bottles produced annually, even a somewhat wealthy Teraxil Archmage could drink it.”

”How did Coron not beat him to death? Is the gap between his sons that big?” Lynn said softly, ”It’s the first time I’ve seen an Elf King selling wine made from Tree of Life leaves to humans.

The low-grade kind you mentioned should be made from dew from the Tree of Life.

That’s available, as the former Elf Empire also used this dew to create a Water of Life, specifically to sell to those wealthy great arcanists of Naish.

But they would never dare to pluck leaves from the Tree of Life to brew wine!”

Hill was truly shocked, then suddenly realized that the Tree of Life Lynn mentioned should be the World Tree that the Teraxil Elves used to transform into a spaceship.

Only elves with the purest bloodline and true love, praying together before the Tree of Life for a hundred years, can produce an elf egg infused with all their power. This egg has to hang on the tree for 200 years to mature and drop.

Although it takes a long time, such a child would have power almost comparable to the First Generation Elves.

It’s a pity that elves scattered across all universes, except for those initially born, even if they have a Tree of Life, already find it difficult to have such children.

Loving for 100 years, then staying together for 200 years, even their Father of Elves couldn’t achieve it.

Lynn’s parents are indeed quite unconventional, actually forming a complete family.

According to elven habits, they can live together when in love, but they still need to have their own house, who knows when feelings might burn out, they must be prepared for separation.

”It’s probably fallen leaves...” Hill said a bit hesitantly.

”How could the Tree of Life drop leaves?” Lynn suddenly raised his head, ”Hill, why don’t the Toril World elves want to leave Eternity Island? It’s because we have no other Tree of Life anywhere else!

Only in the Shaded Sanctuary on Eternity Island is there still one, even if it is still weak and can’t help give birth to pure elves, but to all elves, it is the most precious existence!

That signifies the Toril Elves still have a future.

If it weren’t for the fact those guys on Eternity Island were so... my grandmother and the others would actually continue to endure, as long as that tree was there.

But... Coron’s and the Elven Pantheon’s disregard for Eternity Island let them understand that tree could never grow again.

A Tree of Life without the blessing of the Elven Pantheon can only be a symbol.

The Royal Fleet could no longer expect to have a naturally born Sun Elf Empress, their loyalty no longer had any significance.

This is why the Sun Elves were willing to leave Eternity Island.”

Hill couldn’t help but widen his eyes: the elves’ obsession with bloodline, indeed, was something an outsider like him could not understand.

Even if there were a pair of Sun Elves who loved each other for 100 years and could have a child, could the Royal Fleet truly abandon everything and support that child as king?

No, this is just an explanation the young Sun Elves received from the elders, although it might indeed be the reason on the surface, Hill absolutely did not believe anyone could achieve it.

Even if there were a strong enough Tree of Life, Hill thought this child could not be born.

Insincere love, love with selfish thoughts, the Tree of Life would not accept, and pure love... how could it be born among the Eternity Island elves who grew up in deceit and trickery?

When they see an opposite sex from another pureblood family, their first reaction is definitely not how cute or handsome the person is, but to scrutinize if the other has any plot.

Elves are not pure creatures; their selfishness is far from light.

Rather than saying the Royal Fleet is waiting for a bloodline pure Sun Elf Empress, it’s more accurate to say their power struggles are intensely fierce. Even General Gael, as the fleet commander, doesn’t have the strength to overpower all those who resist his position.

Not wanting to end up as miserable as the Moon Elves, they simply gave the future throne to an impossible-to-appear Elf Emperor.

It’s uncertain whether Lynn truly believes the Royal Fleet’s self-aggrandizing lie or subconsciously doesn’t want to consider anything negative about his grandmother.

It’s quite normal to deceive oneself; otherwise, what can be done?

Glancing at the disgruntled Lynn who continuously muttered curses, Hill chose to tell him the true situation of the Elf World Tree. Although pleased to hear Lynn’s anger towards the Elven God King, Hill thought that if Lynn ever got truly furious, he might directly confront Coron.

Elves treat Coron sometimes like an imposing old father; while they usually obediently listen, when they’re truly displeased, they still dare to give their ”father” attitude.

Anyway, the father at most would curse a bit or give a few smacks, but never cause fatal harm.

Many of the elves’ bad habits were all indulged by Coron himself.

Lynn remained silent.

He was completely unable to understand why the Toril Elves placed so much importance on the Tree of Life, yet finally only saved a nutrient-deficient small tree; while over there, that guy simply transformed the tree into a spaceship, yet that Tree of Life thrived well and even changed its energy absorption method.

Isn’t the Tree of Life the most delicate? The one in Supreme Forest was merely polluted a bit by demonic energy, and it outright perished.

The one in Mistral met the same fate.

During the Dawn Calamity, we need not mention, after the great chaos, the Trees of Life of several Elf Empires were directly burned into carbon.

Clearly you can’t make a dent in the Tree of Life even with a Divine Artifact, but if it decides not to live, nobody can do anything.

Why is the one in Teraxil so special... and even willing to let thousands of elves live inside its body?

Could Coron have given his son’s Tree of Life something special?

But the first generation elves of Toril are also Coron’s own children!

Lynn, looking perplexed, finished another glass of wine, then directly stored the bottle in his ring, saving the rest for his parents.

Hill blinked and swallowed his speculations about Coron, as he wasn’t impolite enough to gossip in front of Coron.

But Hill genuinely felt that such an unyielding Tree of Life was very likely the companion tree of the Elven God King, and the only way to have such a companion tree is if one parent is a powerful Tree Spirit.

Coron’s Tree Spirit form was famously an unparalleled beauty.

After sending off a slightly tipsy Lynn, Hill suddenly paused: why could Lynn taste the flavor of Tree of Life leaves?

The one on Eternity Island couldn’t possibly be the reason.

Hill remembered that garden doesn’t allow any elves with impure blood to enter; half-elves can’t even see where the entrance is.

General Gael... can’t be It. If such good things existed, she wouldn’t possibly give them to her grandson.

She indeed cares for her grandson, but Lynn’s status isn’t high; not even his most favored mother had it. Otherwise, their whole family wouldn’t have been exiled from Eternity Island.

From recent events, Hill could see that General Gael wasn’t intimidated by those Great Nobility of Eternity Island; she merely opted to abandon Lynn’s family when weighing the pros and cons.

Lynn actually noticed it too.

Thus, his attitude towards his grandmother is one of cordiality mixed with calmness; he shows great respect but never acts without reservations.

Then Hill finally recalled Lynn’s artist father.

He was indeed a half-elf...

Could he be some half-elf child of the Elf Royal Family?

Since he isn’t acknowledged by the royal bloodline, even when facing total annihilation of the Elf Royal Family, children like him are not within the chase range.

Lynn’s father’s Sun Elf bloodline is indeed quite thick, only the ears are a bit short.

Hill abruptly clapped his hands, stopping the rapid development of his imagination.

The secrets of a friend’s family should not be overly probed; whatever can be said, Lynn would have already said.

Agleya City quickly entered a strange balance. Neither Hill nor Lynn was in a hurry to find Chil, as many temples secretly sent messages hoping Agleya could hold on a bit longer.

When Chil transfers people over, it exposed numerous hidden origins of Demon Followers. Various temples were actively rooting out these human traitors.

If Chil continues to stir, it’s estimated his followers in the North Continent will be fully exposed, and it implicates many other lords’ subordinates, even those of devils.
