Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 895: Chapter 691: Charge Toward Luskan

Hill, who had always been composed and calm as an observer, finally wore a face full of bewilderment and confusion at the scene in front of him.

Edna, dressed in a lake-blue dress, propped her chin with both hands, looking at the ’Old Age Striking King’ with admiration, occasionally jumping down from the bow to throw a punch with the female priest who had an excellent sense of balance.

Although it was unclear what style they were practicing, Hill thought it had the demeanor of military drills... probably the universal military techniques from the world of the Undead Tribe.

Meanwhile, Laila, after touring the Black Rose’s large ship, sat on the deck with Cunlü and Xiao Liuliu, holding a white umbrella overhead, and a small table beside them set with large cups of iced juice.

Onlookers could easily see that there was great familiarity and good feelings among them.

Startled, Hill carefully observed and saw through the window of a cabin on the second floor, Sharol, who was taking care of the sleeping twins.

How did things take such a drastic turn in just a few months?

”Marsha...” Hill said stiffly, ”Go ask Lynn what he said to the Undead Tribe... Luskan’s future governor.”

Lynn didn’t know what had happened, but he knew Hill, who normally wouldn’t care about these things, wouldn’t ask without reason, so he came directly.

But he could only stare in a daze at the large ship setting sail for adventure, for with Laila there, there was no way to stop them.

”Laila... why is she mingling with them?” Lynn said weakly, almost at the point of passing out, ”I... I... just... told them, after occupying Luskan... they could choose... a Toril person they liked... as the governor.

At that time... the top 10 families in military exploits... could all propose their candidates, then... everyone would vote to choose... one.”

However, if Laila was really interested in the position, who could compete with her?

Not only would Laila certainly be on the front lines, but with her exceedingly beautiful face, the entire Undead Tribe would choose her.

Hill saw Laila stand up, look back twice, but her gaze was directed toward Deepwater City.

It seemed this lady could only feel someone discussing her, but didn’t know who, thinking toward Kelben instead.

”Actually, it’s not bad.” Hill thought for a while, his eyes brightening, ”Look, the twins will surely have a bright future!”

Lynn cast a hopeless look at Hill: ”Ruler of Deepwater City? King of Hope City? Now it’s all gone...

And, Hill, I never thought Edna, who has seen the twins wetting the bed, would have any romantic feelings for them.

Mages have a very good memory; she won’t forget.

I once thought it would be another form of a third-rate knight’s novel, father-son strife or love-hate rivalry... but now, it’s impossible, right?

Moreover, in Toril, true love is only forged through striving together through hardships; without the test of shared adversity, it’s hard for anyone to fully trust their lover.

What calamity could remain unresolved for Midnight, who is so deeply entangled with the Undead Tribe? Need the help of two kids?”

Hill laughed awkwardly: ”Although the plot on that tablet might be collapsing, the outcome is what matters... You see, this girl so interested in the upcoming war has such promise!”

Lynn couldn’t help but glance at Hill: ”What will we say after Coron knows about this?”

”Why tell him?” Hill said, indifferent, ”Dear Lynn, if it weren’t for a stroke of luck, we wouldn’t know about this either.

In that case, our concern is only with this lady; what does it have to do with the girl?

Coron and Miliel are the same; if they notice something wrong and ask, we certainly tell the truth, but if they are unaware, there’s no need to be so proactive, right?”

Lynn stared hard at Hill, unable to believe what he heard.

Did his friend know what God’s Chosen meant?

As long as Miliel descended upon him, he would know everything!

No... Lynn suddenly realized; before Midnight’s return, divine descent was something no one could achieve.

The Weave is very sensitive now, not allowing anyone to pass through.

And other routes have almost all been blocked by AO, the risks too great; unless it’s a matter of life and death, no deity would do so.

Hill smiled gently at Lynn: ”See, they haven’t even appeared to communicate with us.”

Lynn hesitated... he was never a devout believer; his relationship with Miliel was more like friends than subordinates.

Knowing these things meant nothing to a Singer... he couldn’t intervene.

Moreover, it seemed difficult for the gods to contact their followers not in the Temple... without being near the statue, receiving messages was impossible.

Lynn silently lowered his head, suppressing that slight guilty feeling: ”Actually, it’s not bad... at least Kelben would be dumbstruck.

Coron would be very pleased with this matter, anyway... the real troubles of Midnight are not the elves’ worries.”

As for his family’s Miliel... if truly contacted, Lynn thought that just notifying the Singer that the prophecy on the Tablets of Fate might crumble would make Miliel glad for a long time.

For deities like Miliel, who are oppressed by the Tablets of Fate and unable to do anything, feeling schadenfreude is his only form of rebellion.

As for the Black Staff in Deepwater City... hehe~

Laila dares to walk around with her children, while Kelben doesn’t even dare to leave the Black Tower, only able to watch helplessly as the future he believed in crumbles into pieces.

To the elves, Midnight Mistrala, even at her worst, is still distant from them. Instead, it is Kelben whom they despise and hate, so Lynn soon cheered up: ”What do you think Kelben is doing now? That prophecy must be void by now, right?”

”He should be actively searching for Lady Midnight,” Hill chuckled softly, ”and quite eagerly, even to the point of ignoring everything else. Otherwise, the lady wouldn’t have left so resolutely.

She chose her young children over her husband, who had lost his sanity.”

”Do you want to go to the Alchemy Hall?” Lynn had completely given up struggling, ”The giant screens there are clearer and have all kinds of angles.”

Hill certainly chose to go to the Alchemy Hall to watch the drama unfold.

After all, Luskan was too far away to be controlled by the Lily of the Valley.

The ships of the Undead Tribe were very fast; after all, they were alchemy products, not ordinary sailing ships.

Luskan was just over a thousand kilometers away.

Even though they received the news, the pirates still mainly focused on attacking Neverwinter. They were caught off guard in the early morning of the following day when they faced a head-on assault from the Undead Tribe.

The Undead Tribe was highly skilled at volleys, and even the cannons on those hundreds of ships could launch giant stones and steel cannonballs in about a minute.

Luskan, in almost an instant, had all its land structures wiped clean.

The Undead Tribe, accustomed to taking advantage of momentum to launch fierce attacks without holding back, stopped the bombardment, and countless figures rushed out from the large ships.

The resounding cry of ’Detect Evil’ echoed through the sky. In over a thousand years, the people of Luskan never thought they would one day be forcefully subjected to this spell.

This was the pirate city of Luskan!

Detect Evil, my god!

Angered, the pirates ignored the disparity in strength and numbers, charging forward with their double blades.

The outcome was quite dire: the deeper the pirates were enshrouded in black and red light, the quicker they died, even if they weren’t at the forefront. The Undead Tribe’s targets wouldn’t change.

As for those lesser thugs wrapped in yellow and red, most of the Undead Tribe could directly kick them into the sea to clear their heads.

Laila, with her body glowing with spells of Eagle’s Splendor and Fox’s Cunning, charged straight toward the main tower of the Arcane Brotherhood in the south, wielding her magic missile magic wand.

The people of the Black Rose followed closely behind her.

They abandoned the vast warehouses and the pirate ships anchored at Guardian Island, and instead rushed to the island of the Arcane Brotherhood, which had noticeably become more desolate.

Clearly, in this disaster caused by the Magicplague, these evil mages also suffered heavy losses, with all their subordinates wiped out.

But as long as this tower remains in their hands, Luskan would still belong to them. As long as they endure this period within the Magic Tower, the pirates, no matter how arrogant, would not be able to unite against them.

However, Laila clearly knew... who controlled all the magical defensive arrays in Luskan.

If they really wanted to capture Luskan, they had to overthrow this tower: Luskan, originally the land of the Orc Kingdom, had its Magic Tower entirely built on the foundation of an Evil Array, which was utterly unusable by anyone but those who had lost all humanity.

The evil mages inside the Magic Tower couldn’t help themselves. They certainly recognized who this female mage, charging forth and throwing her magic wand, was.

At the top of the tower, black light began to gather.

Laila shouted out loud: ”They’re going to use a soul siphon... Fire!”

’Perfect Bald’ sat upon an alchemy horse, leading thousands of knights to directly leap over the Mirar River, blocking Laila, who was standing at the bridgehead: ”Respected Ms. Laila, please don’t worry.

Soul spells... to us, are nothing but rubbish!

Corrosion spells are even stronger. Tsk, such out-of-date news?”

Laila hesitantly glanced at the knights, directly using a charge trample against the Magic Tower, and slowly retreated to the backmost position.

Where she had just been standing was now occupied by a group of priests: they were casting a divine art familiar to Hill: Holy Rain.

Laila opened her mouth, puzzled as to why Teraxil priests could still use divine arts.

Toril has no deities willing to engrave their divine arts onto their followers like magic models, equating to giving them away for free.

And it’s basically irretrievable. Next time they might see this divine art might be in their enemy’s hands.

Therefore, Laila could not comprehend what was happening before her eyes.
