Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 874: Chapter 670: The Second Visitor

Hill ignored the two dragons, who were so shocked they were babbling, and just glanced at Lynn: ”You handle the rest, try to make those people think it was Terry and Tasding who took down this green dragon.”

Huh? Tasding’s eyes widened in shock: ”Who would believe that? If I had that kind of ability, would I have let her chase me all over the place?

I couldn’t even scratch Clauridra’s skin!

Look at this big scar on my belly! Her son did it!”

”Terry has good parents, many people would suspect him,” Hill said simply.

Knowing Hill couldn’t lie and could only hint, Lynn immediately continued, ”I’ll do my best with it, are you sure no one else saw it, Hill?”

”Within the range of the Puzzle Lock, no one saw anything for sure.

The refugees are all still on the other side of the forest, without a Druid to guide them, they can’t come over.” Hill looked up at the mountain peak, ”There’s no one up there, no movement at all.

It seems her other son didn’t come along.”

”He’s definitely staying in Deepwater City,” Lynn said disdainfully.

”It is Deepwater City, but not Kelben,” Hill said slowly, ”I estimate it’s those who don’t want Kelben to rise to power.

That sky full of silver light, you all saw it, that’s them as Chosen of the Goddess of Magic, becoming locators for the Weave.

As a savior-like presence, his fame must be very high now. If they don’t suppress him, Kelben himself might just become the true City Lord of Deepwater City.

How ironic that would be.”

”Wasn’t it said it was his son?” Tasding replied without thinking, giving Terry an opportunity to sarcastically comment.

Is this what dragon friendship is like? Hill looked at the two dragons in puzzlement.

Lynn smiled helplessly, recently these two dragons had been having some conflicts due to their frequent interactions, their respective ways of making money led to some quarrels.

Tasding prefers making a big profit through adventures, while Terry favors a steady flow of income, which fits their species characteristics; Golden Dragons are rare in preferring to gain wealth through managing their territories.

”Don’t worry about the matters in Deepwater City,” Hill said calmly, ”Just eliminate all those who come looking for trouble.

Right now, the Chosen of the Goddess of Magic aren’t in the mood to meddle in other people’s affairs.

Mystra must have been resurrected someplace, or else the Weave wouldn’t have recovered so quickly.

They must be in a hurry to find their master now.

Especially Kelben. If he lets another Chosen take the lead, all his efforts over the years would be for nothing.

He wouldn’t dare provoke me right now, nor would he choose to antagonize dragons.

He must really be regretting it now, huh? Knowing the day might come when magic couldn’t be used, who would dare offend the famous-for-their-strength dragons!”

Tasding made a noise of understanding: ”So Clauridra attacked you, not entirely because of me?”

Then the Mercury Dragon muttered to himself: ”True, green dragons love to eat Elves and Goblins the most; they’re forest-natured creatures.

If she took you down, there are so many little Elves here, enough for her to lay another egg.”

Hill’s face darkened, and Terry quickly took a few steps, flapping his wings and flying away. Seeing Hill in a bad mood, he didn’t want to stick around with the loose-lipped Tasding and end up in a situation.

The Mercury Dragon, not being stupid, quickly explained: ”I’ve never eaten an Elf, I’m a Mercury Dragon, I love eating minerals! It’s just that there are a lot of green dragons around Deepwater City, so we’re all aware of these things.”

Hill shook his head helplessly: most dragons had long been used to people disliking them but being unable to kill them, so their words were always sharp and harsh. Even the kind-alignment Tasding wasn’t an exception.

The Mercury Dragon looked at the Elves glaring at him angrily, still not understanding what they were so mad about. Wasn’t it already known that green dragons liked to treat Elves as food?

Hill sighed: ”Go patrol the surrounding security, Tasding.”

He couldn’t tell this dragon that, even if his statements were factual, it’s best not to compare Elves with Goblins.

Although to an ancient green dragon, ordinary Elves might be no different from Goblins, that’s not something that should be said in front of Elves.

Even though they are all victims, Elves don’t wish for their status to be seen as comparable to Goblins.

Lynn looked at the fast departing Mercury Dragon, helplessly turned back to Hill, and said: ”If the Undead Tribe doesn’t return soon, Tasding probably won’t stay here long.”

This Mercury Dragon was well known in The North for being curious, lively and capricious, proud and reckless; if he loses interest in Agleya City, he’ll soon set out again to seek new fun.

”I only saved his life on Terry’s behalf,” Hill chuckled, ”There’s no need for him to stay here endlessly.”

It was merely to balance out the karma of Terry’s necklace, he didn’t really need the dragon to protect the territory.

In the future, this Mercury Dragon likely won’t encounter major trouble, Tasding rarely meets enemies intent on his demise; a Mercury Dragon is the least beneficial of dragons to kill, his blood and flesh are filled with deadly poison, lacking any usefulness.

Hill looked at the Murderous Vine wandering through the forest, the Windmill Jasmine blooming at the outermost part of the Puzzle Lock, and the omnipresent Lily of the Valley, and chuckled softly: Compared to relying on some Giant Dragon, he still trusted his plants more.

”What should we do with this Dragon’s body, Hill?” Lynn interrupted his thoughts, ”Should we make it public?”

”No need, just dismantle it and leave the scales from the chest for me,” Hill waved his hand, ”The rest is yours. I remember Dwarves and Elves both use Dragon materials to craft Strange Objects and armor.”

Lynn nodded happily, knowing that if Hill only wanted that little bit, the materials from this Dragon would be enough to make Dragonhide Armor for the City Guard.

Hill didn’t concern himself further with those matters, resolutely continuing his patrol tour. Although the Puzzle Lock generally wouldn’t have any issues, there could be small spots that might go unnoticed, and he needed to find them to plant a few Lily of the Valley seeds.

Once all the small gaps were mostly filled, he wouldn’t have to work so hard anymore.

After returning to the Floating Castle, Hill saw a few people leaving the inn dejectedly, heading towards Deepwater City.

He chose not to kill these people.

Those who truly acted had already been executed by Lynn without hesitation.

And these caravans, although they were in cahoots with the gangs of Deepwater City, didn’t dare go too far; they merely relayed Hill’s information to those thieves.

So Hill followed the rules of Toril here and directly expelled those suspected of being involved in the assassination attempt from his territory.

Hill looked coldly in the direction of Deepwater City and chuckled: Indeed, around Agleya City is quite safe. Spatial ruptures, such troubles, are basically unheard of here, but powerful beasts also know this.

Hill could feel how many beasts had appeared near his territory in the past two days.

In contrast, Deepwater City would only attract more troublesome creatures.

Did they think that just because those thieves could deliver messages back and forth, they could walk back to Deepwater City themselves?

Hill had seen the Goblins and Gnoll People sprawling outside Deepwater City, with even some half-orcs mixed in—these were the greatest human enemies from the Northern Wilderness.

These Silverfires on the Chosen of the Goddess of Magic are not Mistra’s own power, but belong to Suren.

Otherwise, they couldn’t become the anchors of Origin Power so easily.

That’s why Kelben’s daily silver brilliance, connected to the Starry Sky, was seen by these wilderness creatures as the manifestation of the only Silvermoon Goddess willing to reach out to them.

Deepwater City, I think they won’t even dare to open their gates right now?

He glanced again at the Harpists, his dissatisfaction with them slightly alleviated; that Green Dragon was foolish enough to think it could directly suppress Hill with force, suggesting that these people hadn’t spread the news that Hill could easily lift an Otherworldly Whale.

Otherwise, she definitely wouldn’t have been so careless.

Even if she chose to fight in the air, Hill didn’t think he couldn’t handle it, but saving some effort was nice too.

Hill watched silently in the direction of Deepwater City; their plotting failed this time, so they likely wouldn’t continue, as these gangs were merely trying to drive a wedge between Hill and Kelben and had no need to kill him.

But he doubted this would be the end of it.

In the Sword Gulf area alone, there were over twenty known and named Chromatic Dragons settled here.

Hill’s wealth had always been more renowned than his strength.

With Coron unable to descend and Hill unable to use Magic, this was their best opportunity. The death of a homeless, human-aligned waste Green Dragon couldn’t stop the footsteps of other Chromatic Dragons.

Moreover, no Dragon from the Kind Alignment would help Hill, even if they were nearby watching Agleya City.

Rather than rescuing a former ally, whether Metal Dragons or Gem Dragons, they’d prefer to eat the competition and get their fill.

As for Terry’s parents, they were surely in Silvermoon City protecting Elaströ at this time.

Hill soon welcomed his second visitor; the brain of a Chromatic Dragon seemed quite alike as this Blue Dragon also charged straight down from the mountain towards Hill, who was observing the boundary wall formed by Windmill Jasmine and Thorny Bush.

The moment it appeared, Hill frowned and nimbly jumped backwards, directly into the Green Forest.

And the mist constantly hovering in the forest rolled in, thicker and thicker, the entire forest instantly shrouded in a fog that obscured everyone’s vision.

The Blue Dragon laughed hideously, ”I just knew...Clauridra’s sight was blinded by this mist, which is why those two Little Dragons ambushed her, right?

I won’t be hindered by these useless things!

And don’t expect anyone to rescue you!”

Hill clicked his tongue; where did this proud and arrogant Blue Dragon come from? What made him think a few hundred Dragon Vein Earth Elementals could hold off Agleya City’s guards?

Those Elves, although not old, are generally around level 18, alright?

But still...does this Blue Dragon have a Strange Object that sees through the mist? Hill had thought it would be a Water Element Black Dragon coming!

He clenched his fists, weighing the power: the first strike still needed to be a bit strong, as Blue Dragons who play with sand are tougher compared to Green Dragons.
