Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 896: Chapter 692: William Returns After a Long Absence

Laila hesitated, standing behind the charging Undead Tribe. She wasn’t quite used to it; why would priests who aren’t part-time Paladins follow behind them?

They were clearly all purely magic-based divinity professions, and why would Paladins stand together with priests... No, why would there be purely holy magic-practicing Paladins?

Laila tried hard to understand the thinking of these Teraxil Elves... What’s the point of a pure healer wearing armor?

Furthermore, why are Mages and Magicians standing in the last few rows! Especially some Magicians known for their physical defense... throwing fireballs from such a distance?

Shouldn’t they cast protective magic on themselves and stand in front of those less protected priests?

Could this be the secret taught to Edna by that so-called Sanda King about keeping distance, angle, and ensuring you’re not hit when unsure of the opponent’s strength?

Laila didn’t really understand.

But there’s one thing she was sure of; even if that strangely named Clan Leader exaggerated, that soul-draining spell was indeed quite useless.

The continuous Holy Rain was quite effective. The black light orb appearing at the tower’s top not only didn’t expand but became increasingly smaller, nearly disappearing.

Laila clapped her hands to calm herself, the silver flames softly burning on her hands. The magic missile empowered by Silverfire directly shot toward the corner of the Magic Tower’s top layer: Luskan has always been a thorn in the Silvermoon Alliance’s side, though no one wants to be the first to strike, every force is prepared to face them as enemies.

Various intelligence has already been thoroughly scrutinized.

Yet everyone fears the yellow sparrow inevitably following behind, along with the dragons on the World’s Ridge.

If Luskan is truly occupied, whoever manages this place would have to deal with dragons ready to levy at any moment.

It’s known that on the towering mountains in front of Luskan, dragons can be found within hundreds of kilometers.

The fighting among them is indeed brutal, but this doesn’t stop any dragon from wanting to visit Luskan in their leisure time.

Including Gem Dragons and Metal Dragons, all the same.

The only difference is the Chromatic Dragons demand extortion fees, while the other two types charge protection fees.

To manage Luskan properly, it’s inevitable to spend a large sum to hire enough guards, which is a significant amount of money.

But Luskan’s living environment is too impoverished, even if some taxes from merchant caravans smooth it out, it would only barely match the cost of hiring guards...

Everyone is sensible; even defeating those opportunists following behind doesn’t guarantee enough money to buy even a gemstone, let alone extra effort. Why bother with such troubles?

These forces in The North just cannot tolerate their rivals controlling this path to Icewind Valley. Pirates, however, are another issue.

Even Chromatic Dragons know Luskan’s pirates seem rampant but aren’t worth paying a huge price to destroy the Arcane Brotherhood’s Magic Tower.

Laila pondered these tacit secrets, but her hands didn’t stop.

She quickly heard the magic-based professionals among the Teraxil Elves giving orders: ”Follow Laila with good eyesight! If you can’t, cast supporting magic! Don’t drop it on your own people!”

”Priests’ healing isn’t for patching up your mistakes!”

Laila almost laughed... She wasn’t aware of how badly the so-called update screwed the Undead Tribe.

The days of endless blizzards are gone forever... unless there are no warriors or Knights defending upfront.

William must have thought they had it too easy. Why change to a full assault!

It’s the greatest damage to those weak-fighting but daring mages and archers!

Even with aiming assistance, some still miss despite aiming at an enlarged target, clearly, clearly... it’s such a large target! How does one skew their shot?

Meanwhile, the existence of bungling teammates makes everyone experience what it means to have the sharpest swords always coming from the back...

Too many back stabs, and no one can take it.

The priests stood in the middle solely to save those pitiful ones... not dead by the enemy but unfortunate T-headshots from their own mages.

Laila embarrassingly listened to Teraxil Elves unexpectedly starting to curse, and... it seemed like they were cursing their Main God?

Apparently, some special ability was removed, so many ill-prepared people were cursing.

She smiled gently, realizing that she initially thought the 50 missiles fired from her Wand might not even break the Magic Tower’s critical point, but the Teraxil Elves were cursing furiously, while many were still accurate; the black protective magic shield was nearly about to disintegrate.

Inside, those Dark Mages were struggling to resist... yet the sheer number gap couldn’t be alleviated by those few Energy Baryte they had.

This way, she could save her remaining two Wands!

Laila’s gaze already turned to the second-floor’s second node, amidst the continuous cursing, as she led this peculiar group of elves to turn fire.

Anyway, it’s not her getting cursed, it’s this deity called William... Aren’t his ears itching?

William was obviously uncomfortable, rolling his eyes in his Divine Kingdom.

The Undead Tribe didn’t know that, between saving their lives and those of ordinary people in Toril, he chose the latter.

No choice... that trash Coron is completely useless.

Although he did send a lot of energy crystals, what’s the point? What he needs is a manager who can be controlled anytime, not a shareholder who can only invest money!

Relying entirely on the calculations of the Temporal Artifact, William could only abandon the Undead Tribe.

After all, their world always had those hardcore games that truly test people’s abilities... let’s just say he suddenly had a grand ambition to match those godly games...

No... why though?

Why is it always him who gets cursed?

It’s obviously Coron’s fault, brave enough to invite people but powerless to manage!

William, being cursed like crazy, was exceedingly upset, cursing in the direction of the Elf Deity System: ”Not a single good thing in both the father and son! Just giving money, is that enough?

I lack many things but not money!

Useless elves! Can’t rely on them at crucial times!”

Because of this matter, he even had to hastily pass the throne to Belter, ascending to the Divine Kingdom with his cousin Naven.

William, full of anger, cursed a few more times, telling the fake-dead Elven God King to inform his old man to compensate for his losses.

After returning to the Divine Kingdom, Naven gazed at William with a strange expression: ”Didn’t you have to ignite your Divine Fire to eliminate the toxicity of belief?”

Once the Divine Fire is ignited, the speed of divine power growth quickens, and William is certainly not the Goddess of the Earth, Teraxil is her body, at some point she’d naturally get kicked out of the Prime Material Plane.

”So what?” William said unhappily, ”Can’t I even vent my anger?”

He really didn’t expect that the Magicplague would arrive so soon! William genuinely thought he had a few more years! By then, this game of his would probably be on a decline.

Aside from the loyal die-hard fans, there wouldn’t likely be many players joining the fun, and by then, even changing some game settings could be considered an update, a necessary step to create freshness for the players... and it all got ruined by this sudden attack!

He couldn’t just change the rules on Toril’s side! If a change is needed, it has to be overall!

Teraxil is still the same as a beginner village, but aside from Demon’s Lair, large-scale battles simply can’t happen, unless the players start fighting amongst themselves.

Naven sighed helplessly.

No way, the God of Time and Space couldn’t meddle in Toril’s affairs: that world is too problematic.

Naven never thought there would be a world wanting to devour deities of other worlds without its own Main God for the space-time law.

As William told him, Toril wasn’t without deities trying to walk the path of Time and Space, but they were all crushed by the World Master when they just started their journey.

Although it didn’t appear to be his doing, everyone who walked this path or the Path of Destiny died, the smart ones understood what was going on.

Moreover, every deity in Toril has some knowledge of prophecy... but it only works when foretold about mortals; trying to step into prophesying deities leads to a terrible death.

After hearing William’s introduction to Toril, Naven could only be profoundly grateful that his universe didn’t have such a God Above Gods.

He then understood why the God of Time and Space was so wary of Toril, handing everything over to William after an incident and completely shutting the doors of his own Divine Kingdom, staying out altogether.

Especially when he even heard that peculiar call: Toril is yearning for a sincere warrior to save a world threatened by evil.

William, who also heard this, merely commented faintly: One fool like Tyr is enough.

After knowing that Naven Spencer heard it too, William asserted: Tyr is probably about to free himself from Toril’s horrifying constraints, having almost repaid his debts to the World Will with his thousand years of loyalty and diligence.

Now is the crucial moment, if Tyr can’t hold on, who knows when he might get trapped again; otherwise, Naven, who is associated with Teraxil’s loyalty and Guardian Divinity, wouldn’t have heard such a call.

However, Tyr isn’t easy to deal with, if some fool accepts the call, they might only shine during the time Tyr is down; after the God of Justice’s resurrection, they could either optimistically become Tyr’s lesser god, or, if unlucky, face the annihilation of their divine soul.

William sits back on his Divine Throne, tilting his head: ”Hill is still the most reliable, look at the path chosen for the Undead Tribe, it’s just right to break away from all that messy nonsense on the continent, Luskan is truly the safest now.

Though it comes with a Laila... that’s nothing, as long as it doesn’t become a tool for those guys’ power struggles.

Tch!

Forget about Laila, even bringing a Goddess of Magic wouldn’t be an issue.”
