Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 877: Chapter 673: Rich Spoils of War

Tasding flew to Hill’s side, his mirror-like wings reflecting bright light, and circled him twice before stopping in front of him.

The Mercury Dragon stretched his head directly in front of Hill, staring intently at him.

Hill felt a bit uneasy under the gaze: ”Tasding? What’s wrong?”

”I’m looking... at the damned rich man...” the Mercury Dragon said in a whimsical tone, ”When will I also be able to dismiss a gemstone mine as a mere nuisance?”

”Even if you were richer than Hill, you wouldn’t give up a gemstone mine... even if there’s just one gemstone left in it,” Terry said incisively, ”Don’t waste your thoughts on useless things.

The most important thing is, you’ll never be as rich as Hill.”

Tasding looked at his friend expressionlessly: ”What made a dragon utter such ruthless and unkind words?”

”It’s the great friendship ah~” Terry replied in a lyrical tone.

Neither of these two dragons nor Hill had any interest in discussing those dragons flying in the sky above, sneaky giant dragons not worth mentioning.

At such a high level of clouds, relying solely on wing power to fly and circle for so long, it can only be a smaller type of dragon. Considering that Metal Dragons at least care a bit about their reputation... there are also quite a few Gem Dragons in The North, and most of them are quite good at hiding.

These Gem Dragons have always been cautious and prudent, meaning they would never oppose the strong. In the circumstance where both Blue Dragons and Ancient Green Dragons have died miserably, they certainly wouldn’t make a move.

The attack power of Gem Dragons actually relies more on spells, except for Emerald Dragons; the rest, depending solely on brute force, are not taken seriously by anyone.

But even heavy dragons like Emerald Dragons mainly rely on spells in battles. No type of Gem Dragon likes melee combat, and when they encounter tough opponents, they basically opt to flee.

Now they’re staying above the clouds unwilling to leave, presumably waiting for Claujeliatmata’s outcome.

This dragon is famously wealthy, with many enemies. Even Gem Dragons can’t resist seeing if there’s a chance to score big at her home.

However, if this Ancient Green Dragon was not killed but merely imprisoned, these Gem Dragons wouldn’t dare to offend this infamous cunning Ancient Green Dragon.

In some sense, Claujeliatmata’s intelligence is considered relatively high among giant dragons and is regarded as being quite idealistic.

She always manages to devise plots and plans aimed at opponents and enemies superior in physical and magical power, especially against giant dragons, which almost always succeed.

The reputation of this dragon is so well known that even Hill, who rarely cares about Chromatic Dragons, understands the hesitance of those Gem Dragons, although such spying is truly discomforting.

What a pity... Purwell’s flying ability also relies on spell-like abilities; otherwise, Hill would definitely choose to fly up and give them a good beating, directly kicking these little dragons away.

As for Terry and Tasding, not just anyone can ride on a dragon’s back. Unless it was a crucial moment, Hill wouldn’t propose such a rash idea.

He hasn’t planned to become a Dragon Knight.

Hill’s territory is quite safe. Goblins, unless numbering in the tens of thousands, cannot pose a threat to the City Guard, and these elves hold high-level officer ranks in other cities.

If not for Agleya City’s unique status, these former Elf Crusaders wouldn’t accept such low positions, but this will definitely change in the future... no position is too low to withstand a full set of Dragonhide Armor.

Hill is also not worried about any giant dragon directly attacking Agleya City.

As long as Hill is alive, no dragon would be stupid enough to stir up trouble in his territory.

After all, everyone knows that even if the Origin Power recovers slowly, there will still be a day when it’s whole again, and the revenge of such a high-level mage is something no one can afford.

The only concern is Hill’s own safety, but there’s really nothing to worry about. The last thing Hill fears is fools trying to confront him with force.

Instructing List to send more food and wine to Terry and Tasding, Hill turned around to head back to his room for a bath.

He was covered in dust! Just thinking about it was uncomfortable.

Soaking in water, Hill thought again of Claujeliatmata. As an Ancient Green Dragon, she seemed overly aged, and who knows what wretched deeds she did in her younger days to become like that, even with black marks on her wings.

Hill could actually understand why this Green Dragon was filled with a longing to become a Dragon Lich, yet was hesitant. The numerous animal companions outside her cave in the fissure of Creep Garden Forest were retained because of her Druid identity.

However, upon becoming Undead, she would have to give up much of her past, including her beloved Oak Forest and the glowing moss filling the cave.

No natural creatures can live alongside the Undead.

Moreover, being a Druid proves that this dragon at least loves life exceedingly, and she absolutely couldn’t go through with the suicidal ritual to become a Dragon Lich.

So this Ancient Green Dragon prepared everything for herself, waiting for a death that might descend unnoticed.

Wishful thinking, too bad he’s seen through it. Hill would never satisfy her extravagant wishes!

However, the Dragon Worship Church probably won’t give up on her. Although the intelligence network of this Ancient Green Dragon is not very high level, it’s already quite good for those True Dragon Liches who have just wiped out all the newly transformed Half-Dragon Human Liches.

Even after becoming Liches, the excessive arrogance of the Giant Dragons caused them problems. Dragon Madness over the past two years has almost completely ruined the once terrifying intelligence network of the Dragon Worship Church.

As a result, once the power was finally allocated, these Dragon Liches found themselves without any usable subordinates: the issue of Dragon Madness has almost angered all forces, and as long as any connection with the Dragon Worship Church is discovered, no matter the faction, they’ll be directly eliminated.

They completely overlooked those seemingly useless subordinates in their fight for power... of course at this point, these Bone Dragons realized that those were not useless; they just didn’t understand.

But things have come to this point, and Claujeliatmata’s small network of spies is already their last and best chance. Rebuilding... if they had the capability, they wouldn’t have messed the powerful Dragon Worship Church up to such a state.

So the Dragon Worship Church is very generous to this Ancient Green Dragon. The resources needed for the Lich Marks on Claujeliatmata are not small, and even gathering all the resources of the Dragon Worship Church might not be enough to do it a few times.

They want Claujeliatmata to completely become a Lich, being imprisoned is not an option; without this Dragon’s command, that intelligence network would disappear in a few years.

Hill coldly chuckled, the Dragon Liches at this time have no combat power.

Let’s see what price they can offer to buy Claujeliatmata’s life.

As for the Day of Spell Recovery... Hill, who already knows very well about the spell casting on Toril, isn’t afraid of them?

When Hill stood up from the bathtub, he found List had already directed the Puppet to prepare everything, and he couldn’t help but laugh: ”Life is really uncomfortable without you, List. I truly hope you can come out soon.”

The Puppet handed Hill a robe and quietly bowed.

In good spirits, Hill returned to the study and began inspecting his spoils.

The storage tools of the Blue Dragon and Green Dragon require some rather troublesome spells to open, Hill directly tossed them into the pendant to deal with later; anyway, it’s just some Gold Coins and gemstones.

The rest are the Strange Objects they carried with them.

The most important from the Green Dragon are four Crystal Balls with different functions: Secret Eye Communication, Detect Thoughts, See Invisibility, Telepathy.

They seem quite nice, but they’re of no use to Hill.

Hill plans to give these to Lynn, and when he restores his link with Miliel in the future, these Crystal Balls will be quite helpful.

Hill estimates that when All Gods restore their control over the Toril Continent, the Harpist Alliance, which originally cooperated closely, might split internally.

Miliel is actually the type who insists that Harpists only need to eavesdrop and then actively notify other Temples, especially the Paladin Legion of the Just Three Holy.

Unless unavoidable, there’s no need to demand Harpists directly confront evil on the frontline.

After all, most Harpists voluntarily serve justice, and many have never received any reward from the Alliance headquarters.

But some Deities, led by Mystra, hope Harpists could stand up and bring them faith feedback comparable to that of the Righteous Knights.

Midnight probably wants to rely on Harpists to stabilize her Kind Alignment.

Miliel has clearly been moving further away from Mystra these past two years; he still prefers the former.

Hill can understand him, although the Goddess of Magic was quite chaotic in her private life, her various political tactics were stronger than those of the three Midnights combined.

By then, Lynn would probably be busy, as Miliel’s Followers aren’t many. This set of Crystal Balls is just right to assist him.

Hill shook his head and continued to inspect his spoils.

Then there was a chameleon ring that allows one to blend into the environment, probably one of the reasons Claujeliatmata thought she could successfully sneak attack... but when she steps on the ground, no disguise works.

From the Blue Dragon, the items were simpler: a Featherfall Amulet, that Strange Object which lightened her movements.

And a Golden Disc engraved with a lion... that’s the Health Amulet... Hill really doesn’t understand why a Dragon would wear an animal amulet that just slightly increases constitution, it makes no sense to her. Is it just because it’s gold?

Why not just keep it in a warehouse?

The only thing that piqued Hill’s interest was a Doorbell Harp.

Compared to his Archmage’s Staff, this Strange Object made of Mithril seems to have a simpler door-opening method.

And also more interesting, Hill took it in hand with great interest and started to research without caring that this object was originally intended to open his home’s door.
