Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 550: Chapter 349: The Battle on the Walls, the Power of the Ring of Winter!

The Pope of the Magic Kingdom had reached out to control the Radiant Knights Order, hoping to keep this knight corps under his own control.

Originally, he wanted to make them into Legendary Puppets, but unfortunately, the Demons suddenly invaded in large numbers, so he had to change his mind.

Compared to Devils, the Radiant Knights Order, which inherited the will of the Sun, did more damage to Demons.

This group was currently quite close to their Magic Kingdom, so using them as a barrier was pretty good.

Among all the bad news, the only relief was that all this was solely orchestrated by the Pope of the God of Magic, and he didn’t even use the power of the Church.

The three Legendary Knights of the Radiant Knights Order didn’t feel any better, though; they only felt humiliated.

They were, after all, a knight corps composed of dozens of Legendary Knights, with an auxiliary corps consisting of two to three thousand Sky Knights.

Not to mention the tens of thousands of Low-tier Knights.

Originally, they were truly proud, as the Radiant Knights really were the strongest knight corps in the world.

Although they didn’t know why, when they battled with Legendary Knights from other countries, they could even take on ten at a time, and when it came time for promotion, the Radiant Knights Order didn’t need to rely on an abundance of high-level resources like those others did.

However, at this moment, they deeply felt that they were just meat on someone else’s chopping board, and it was up to the other party whether they wanted to mince or chop them up.

Aurthezia looked at William and, suppressing her rage, continued to inquire. This time she smartly asked directly about the high-level combat forces of the Magic Kingdom, the distribution of the army, who were following the current Pope, and who were still with the former one.

’Becky’ didn’t know much, but it was enough for William to understand who his future opponents might be.

Mason, who had been reading the book of laws, suddenly turned to look at the oil painting with a horrified gaze.

He had discovered that the spy before him was in a peculiar state of answering any question posed, and once he thought of something, he would try his best to explain it clearly.

William, however, was quite interested and couldn’t help but ask about the Baron Daley in the nearby town.

As expected, Baron Daley was quite famous in the Magic Kingdom.

This place, where they were located, was almost a must-contest battle ground hundreds of thousands of years ago, but after the Sun God and the invading Demon Lord nearly perished together, the originally rich land began to slowly wither, and the food production also started to decrease.

Even so, a thousand years ago, it still counted as a good place.

Baron Daley was originally a viscount, of course, they had also been promoted all the way up from a baron, reputedly hitching their wagon to the right horse by providing a vast amount of resources for the King they served.

Unfortunately, later on, when everyone found out where to exchange for supplies, the situation worsened. They were, after all, nobility of recent wealth and after losing a few honor wars, they could no longer hold onto the territory they had expanded into.

The Daley Family was most unlucky during the time when the Pope took his position; they had supported the previous one, yet they lacked the ability to protect themselves.

In the end, they were demoted back to baron and could only return to their ancestral land.

The previous Grand Duke had a beautiful idea, picking his clan’s territory here with the notion that if the family ever fell into misfortune, as long as the family produced a Legendary Knight, they might be able to return to the center of the kingdom.

Regrettably, he did not anticipate firstly that the local produce would fail and resources would no longer be abundant enough to support the emergence of a Legendary Knight, and then there was the massive invasion of the demons a thousand years ago. An Abyssal Gate appeared directly on the land of Baron Daley.

Baron Daley’s family thought of fleeing, but that Abyssal Gate was on the side of their territory facing the inner realm of the kingdom.

In the end, the whole family was devoured by the Demons.

”Their souls, the Demons must have really enjoyed them,” William said with a sneer.

”Because they traded Soul Crystals to the Devils?” Steven suddenly interjected, then clamped his hand over his mouth.

Mason put the book down, and Aurthezia also stiffened.

So those Radiant Knights, even after taking in countless orphans, could only barely maintain in Neutral Faction, ah!

Indeed, they had always known that these so-called honor wars were nothing but suicidal missions.

But they were powerless, only able to blind themselves, pretending not to know anything. Keeping their own lives was already the limit for the Radiant Knights Order.

The World Rules would not think there is anything wrong with protecting oneself, turning a blind eye to the suffering of others, but such people, no matter how many good deeds they do, can never belong to the Kind Alignment.

Hill couldn’t help but look up at the sky.

That dim Sun, was it too without any assistance, enduring and watching everything happening in the world, perhaps even having formed the Radiant Knights Order hoping to change some of the world’s concepts?

For so many in a knight corps to feel the laws of light and justice, that wasn’t an easy feat.

That Sun God must have paid a great price to allow the maxims of the Radiant Knights to communicate directly with the World Rules.

However, he could not change anything, only preserving his own knight corps.

In the end, he chose the outcome of perishing together with the Demons.

Hill gently touched his oil painting and, though it felt somewhat inappropriate, he couldn’t help but feel glad that he was born in Teraxil. The natural Three Gods of his world, even though they had suffered somewhat, were still in existence and very powerful.

In Gerns, even the God of the Earth had not been born.

William looked at the three knights who had become vigilant and smiled gently, ”That’s all he knows. I don’t have anything else I want to know; you can take them away now.

Don’t worry, the painting isn’t something that can be used at any time. If you’re worried about saying something wrong, just stay away from where Hill is.

While Hill’s painting is powerful, no one besides him can use it. Especially in this world, it’s a Divine Sun Artifact that only those naturally kind-hearted can wield.

In our world, Hill is also a rare individual beloved by the Sun God!”

The knights all looked at Hill with eager eyes, for to them, the lost Sun God was indeed the deepest wound and hope in their hearts.

Suddenly, William said to Hill, ”Hill, since you have brought out the painting, why not use it on the city wall? That Demigod Level Great Demon is approaching from outside.

I remember the painting has a very powerful Strike Evil Skill, right? You haven’t used it yet, have you?”

Hill nodded, ”No problem. Can His Majesty the King teleport me there directly?”

William snapped his fingers handsomely, ”Please!” Feeling the shift in space, Hill covered his smiling lips with the painting.

Although it was indeed a suave move, why did Hill feel like he was just looking at a Husky trying to act cool?

Hill was directly transported by William to a hall on top of the city wall.

It was obviously prepared for him; while it lacked ornate decorations, one could still tell it was a King’s Hall.

Cradling the painting, Hill gently pushed open the two large doors and walked out.

A line of members of the Undead Tribe curiously watched the opening doors, then their expressions changed drastically the moment they saw Hill, ”Scatter! Hill is coming up with his painting that reveals scumbags!”

Hill looked on bewildered as the Undead Tribe quickly vanished from his side, leaving a sudden clearing on the crowded city wall.

With one hand on the painting, Hill looked helplessly around. Most of the Clan Leaders had hidden themselves, and even the ’Perfect Baldy’ at his nearest was pretending not to know him, hiding behind others.

This was a time when it was good to have short legs.

In front of him, the Clan Leader of the Battle Field stood with a stern face, determinedly not looking at Hill.

Hill shook his head. Since no one was coming over, he would just have to apply buffs randomly; it was anyone’s guess who would receive them.

Considering William’s attitude of claiming the painting to be a Divine Artifact, Hill frowned and decided to play along.

Hill only cast ’Blessing of Courage and Strength’ ten times, and though he might have accidentally given the Strength Blessing to a Mage, what could he do? Everyone could use Courage, after all, it could shorten the casting time for spells, which was quite meaningful.

After using the blessing magic, Hill just held onto the artifact and waited in silence.

The Demon quickly noticed the empty spot and the Demigod Level Demon Lord was already slowly moving towards Hill.

’Perfect Bald’ shouted, and a row of Great Shield Knights charged in front of Hill.

They were resolute, their helmets coming down so that no one could see who they were, even hiding their names on top of their heads.

They were well-prepared, ready to prevent a social death.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh.

He looked at the Demigod Demon, its vast body, comically fat stature, wild boar-like body, and tiny wings on its back, all told Hill that this was a Soul Judging Demon.

In the Abyss, it was considered a high-level Demon with a pig-like face, but it was no fool.

Hill lowered his head, raising one hand with his Ring of Winter, a ring that hadn’t yet shown its power.

Below the city wall, he placed a huge ice ball that automatically cast the Ice Cone Technique.

Demons of insufficient level simply couldn’t withstand it; each strike of the ice ball took a life.

Then he directly changed the weather in front—since the Undead Tribe wouldn’t mind the cold, he just turned it into winter, and a blizzard began to blow.

This magic was different from the Undead Tribe’s; the rapidly falling temperature caused many Demons to howl in dislike.

The Soul Judging Demon became furious.

It had wanted to wait a bit longer to see Hill make the first move to gauge whether it could win before deciding to charge.

But under the current circumstances, it had to charge forward, otherwise, the Demons would flee.

The Great Lord would not forgive it just because the human could change the weather. He would only scold it for giving the human the chance to do so.

He might even beat it to death on the spot, turning it back into a Coward Demon!

The Soul Judging Demon, wielding its chain hammer, charged toward the city wall.
