Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 523: Chapter 322: Hill’s Half of the Soul

Hill actually somewhat understood why Agleya thought he and Haiweirsen were alike. He didn’t seem that distantly related to Haiweirsen. If it weren’t for the inheritance from the Crystal Flower, he should have been much like Aurelio.

Normally, he didn’t feel it, but when that father and son stood together, they were exactly the same.

Hill was also very much like Haiweirsen, not in appearance, but in aura. He also had a bit of Aurelio’s aura.

They hit it off from the beginning and trusted each other for a reason.

With the growth of his strength, Hill also felt some of the uniqueness of his own soul.

Especially after living with the Earth Bear day and night, he understood that it wasn’t just his body that awakened the Earth Bear bloodline, his soul also had some connection with these bears.

To be more precise, it should be related to their creator, the Goddess of the Earth.

Just like Haiweirsen and his brother Ihab now, after the World Tree Artifact emerged, their bodies began transforming towards divine forms.

However, other bears hadn’t felt anything yet, but Hill immediately noticed that he could sense the divine light flowing within them.

He used to think his uniqueness was because of the blessing of the Goddess of the Silvermoon, but it seemed that wasn’t all.

He should have realized his uniqueness long ago. After all, when he was with William, Hill could always look him directly in the eye.

Even Fran avoided looking directly at William when speaking to him.

Hill shook his head. He had long believed that the kindness shown to him by the Silvermoon and Sun Gods was because of his Earth Bear bloodline.

But now, it seemed that might not be the only reason.

Hill looked up at the fir tree in the sky. This divine artifact of the Goddess of the Earth was wantonly emitting its power, directly severing this land from the rest of the world. The deities in the starry sky could hardly look over.

Unless someone directly fought the World Tree, for now, no deity wanted to be banished by this world. It was no longer just an artifact.

When the World Tree of the Goddess of the Earth just ascended, Hill discovered a bit of the world’s truth: It was the natural consciousness, or rather, another part of it.

When it stood there, the part of the natural consciousness surrounding Hill eagerly rushed over, returning to its true origin.

Isn’t it reasonable? The World Tree had merged with this world after supporting it for hundreds of thousands of years.

Teraxil’s world ultimately belonged to the World Tree.

Although it was also called the World Tree, it could only grow in this world, unlike its father, which grew in the universe with countless branches linked to numerous small worlds.

The divine artifact of the World Tree of the Goddess of the Earth likely appeared as the Law Tree on the earth when this world formed.

And the Goddess of the Earth, who mastered the law of the earth and became a deity innately, was in fact the true child of the World Tree.

The earth is the planet!

No wonder she could ask for the World Tree’s seed, just like the Elven God King. This goddess also had a powerful backer.

When children are undergoing trials, elders usually just watch silently, but if there’s a real life-threatening situation, who knows what might happen!

The World Tree could ignore time and space, piercing through any barriers directly.

Her children could die, but her children’s enemies would be taken along as well. This would be the true outcome if the world were to be destroyed.

Coron must have known this, which is why he never interfered too much with the Elven God King. He knew his son well. Had someone played better than the World Tree’s child, Coron wouldn’t have expelled him from the Elven Homeland back then.

There is the true destination of the elves.

Only when his foolish son angered the world’s deities too much and couldn’t redeem himself would he come to help.

The promotion of a small world must rely on itself. Other world’s deities interfering would only lead to failure.

Coron understood this, which is why he acted the way he did.

What Hill wanted to know now was whether the Star Spirit fighting the Demon Prince was the defender of this universe.

So, Coron stationed the Divine King there to help.

The Elven God King helped the Star Spirit, gaining the recognition of this universe, thus becoming fearless.

That’s why he could firmly stay in this world.

Even after committing countless evils against the world, in some sense, his actions could be seen as tests for this world.

Fortunately, the World Tree’s child ultimately triumphed over the Elven creator’s child.

So, Coron generously gave out rewards.

But whether the demons knew the truth, that’s unclear.

Were they deceived again? The demons of the Abyss are indeed wicked enough, but their intelligence truly makes them susceptible to deception.

The most cunning one was deceived and imprisoned for tens of thousands of years, let alone the others.

The Demon Prince acted on whims, but he wouldn’t inform any demons of his intentions. The reason for attacking the Star Spirit might have been completely arbitrary.

As long as someone stirred things up, it was normal to trick some demons into causing trouble for the World Tree’s child.

The evil gods are cunning enough, but if they got second-hand information from demons, this kind of cunning, built on errors, is meaningless.

Rose is still the smart one! She just kept targeting the elves, and until now, not even a maid had been killed.

Probably after being the God Queen of Elves for so many years, she knew what kind of existence the World Tree was. After discovering the true nature of the world, she directly shifted her focus to causing trouble for the Elven God King.

In this aspect, she succeeded. The Elven God King, who could have ascended with the world, now could only endure slowly.

Hill felt the fir tree, sensing genuine joy and a clear cheer.

So the Goddess of the Earth sacrificing herself to save the world was understandable.

She would rather perish with the world than abandon her divinity to flee like other deities.

Hill did not know if the so-called World Will was the subconsciousness of the Goddess of the Earth, but it was very likely.

If so, the Earth Bears were truly transitioning from children of the earth to children of the world.

Agleya, Hill didn’t need to keep secrets from her. She was a pure Water God, having no qualification to covet the world’s authority, nor would she have such thoughts.

”Haiweirsen.” Hill softly called out, ”What exactly is wrong with my bloodline or soul? I recognized the natural consciousness.”

Haiweirsen slowly walked over, glancing at Agleya lying on Hill.

”Do I need to leave?” the Little Sea God asked keenly.

”No, it’s not related to you,” Haiweirsen replied cheerfully. ”Since we are family, it’s okay for you to know as well.

Hill’s soul contained a part that belonged to the Goddess of the Earth.”

Hill instantly looked up. ”What?”

”Mother Earth and the world were gravely wounded together back then. Calling her situation dire wouldn’t do justice to the calamity.

Her divine soul was fragmented, and there was no way to restore it.

Luckily, the Goddess of the Silvermoon hadn’t completely fallen into slumber at that time, so she helped Mother Earth recover most of her divine soul.”

So that’s why the world’s will reacted so oddly. Whatever it did was always a step behind.

Hill did not know how to react, continuing to listen silently with a blank expression.

”The remaining soul shards were beyond retrieval. The Goddess of the Silvermoon entrusted them to the Earth Bears, in hopes that one day another child of the Mother Goddess could be born.

Unfortunately, we failed.

Ihab’s first child couldn’t even be born. Every bear was incredulous that an Earth Bear’s offspring could miscarry!

Later, we realized that the soul shard was too small to sustain an Earth Bear’s body.

We tried many methods, but ultimately, apart from planting trees, we achieved nothing.

I decided to take a look at the outside world.

It just so happened that humans had been born.”

Haiweirsen looked happily at Hill. ”I stayed over there for a long time. Back then, transforming into a human form was done using a human transformation spell, which was very uncomfortable. Every day was tough.

Fortunately, the final result was good. Just a bit of a side effect, but Earth Bears never fear assassination, as they can only attack covertly.

The Goddess of the Hunt may be foolish, but her strength is formidable. Those two races didn’t dare provoke the Moon Elves back then.”

Haiweirsen suddenly burst into laughter. ”On my way back, I saw a group of male bears fighting around a little female bear.

That proud little female bear, waiting for mating, I could tell at a glance her soul was off.

Being blessed by the Goddess of the Silvermoon at birth, I couldn’t mistake a Druid.

It was just a fleeting thought, but the more I thought about it, the better it seemed. The Earth Bears’ bodies couldn’t sustain it, but the Moon Elves’ could!

I happened to be without a wife, so I went ahead and married her.”

Hill couldn’t help but glance at Haiweirsen, recalling Virginia’s dream.

That self-assured Haiweirsen didn’t say much that wasn’t true, but none of it was completely honest either.

”Though it didn’t succeed in the end, Virginia and her mother only shared one trait: their gender.” Haiweirsen lay beside Hill and sighed lightly. ”Yet, I still wished she could live well, even if it meant marrying a Moon Elf!

However, the Moon Elves’ nature... When the Goddess of the Silvermoon planted the Moon Tree, she definitely did not think it through.”

Hill quietly leaned against Haiweirsen. He had always accepted that he belonged to the Earth Bears, probably because of this half soul.

Haiweirsen gazed into the distance. ”I had actually given up hope then. With elven bloodline, even if it was just an inert soul shard, it could never manifest in Virginia’s descendants.

The Earth Bears had completely abandoned their luck for normal living from that time.

Until Aurelio was born.

Ihab was terrified then. He couldn’t bear facing the potential death of his child again, yet Aurelio turned out to be very healthy.

The Earth Bears dared not reproduce during that period, fearing inadvertently attracting that soul again.”

Haiweirsen smiled at Hill. ”Until Aurelio personally saw you, when he returned, the entire tripe fell into a frenzy.”
