Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 530: Chapter 329: Hill’s Dad is My Anchor

Hill was merely asking Merkel if he should take the initiative to negotiate with the Undead Tribe about the whereabouts of these Magical Beasts.

It actually doesn’t matter who takes the lead on this matter, at most it might make the Magical Beasts feel slightly favorable towards Merkel, and they might even directly become members of the Beast Kingdom.

Hill does not need these Magical Beasts to worship him; he has no desire to become a deity.

And even if Merkel were to step in, that would only be with Hill’s permission.

Hill was doing this, not to help Merkel, but for Alice.

During wartime, Alice, who could heal Magical Beasts, naturally held a high position, but once peace came and the state was established, Alice seemed to be relegated to being nothing more than Merkel’s shadow.

Hill was not willing for Alice to be merely a pure Queen without any say.

No matter how devoted Merkel’s love for Alice was, as a relative, Hill always had that little bit of worry.

A love that is unequal in status might last a few thousand or even tens of thousands of years, but whether such love can still exist after hundreds of thousands of years, Hill truly did not know.

Perhaps Hill was being overly cynical, but he still needed to be prepared.

The Magical Beasts were just a bit straightforward in character, but they were certainly no fools.

True fools would have died at the hands of their enemies long before becoming legendary.

They would surely understand that Merkel does not have such a high standing with Hill, such that he could ask the Nature Warlock to step back; Hill was doing this probably because of his eldest daughter’s sake.

The Great Earth Beasts of the present were not that obedient to Merkel yet, and many Magical Beasts, if they really left the Undead Tribe, would not go to him at all; in the hearts of these Magical Beasts, Hill held a higher position than Merkel.

The kingdom established by the black leopard was also not much larger than the territory occupied by the wolf pack. This only proved that there were not so many Great Earth Beasts following Merkel.

Of course, this was also Hill’s responsibility; he had given the Magical Beasts another path.

Many high-level Magical Beasts preferred to sign contracts with the Undead Tribe rather than endure the hardship of building up the Beast Kingdom.

Both were tough, but life with the Undead Tribe was definitely more blissful; at least they would not suffer losses.

But it was different for the Magical Beasts who left the Undead Tribe; Hill felt that it would be a lot if even half of the Magical Beasts were willing to follow the Undead Tribe to a distant place.

But after these Magical Beasts returned, Hill himself planned to leave this world for the Starry Sky and would not be able to protect them anymore.

And in a stable and prosperous world, the human population would grow so rapidly that Hill dared not calculate; the Human Kingdom would surely expand its territory.

After living freely for a while, these Magical Beasts would sooner or later end up in the Beast Kingdom.

Hill had no intention of meddling in this, he had foreseen this day when he originally set the terms of the Contract.

Actually, it was all clearly written in the Contract, of course, Hill did not expect such an outcome today; he just thought it was better to be safe than sorry. What if the God of Time and Space and the others wanted to develop other worlds?

Just like the Star Spirits once walked the world of the Elves, that was a place where treasures were found everywhere.

But Hill felt that neither the Undead Tribe nor the Magical Beasts would have thoroughly read those terms; someone needed to remind both parties.

If Hill himself announced this matter and then had these Magical Beasts follow Merkel, it seemed better than what he was doing now. These Magical Beasts might listen to Alice more than to Merkel.

However, the premise for doing this is that Alice would have to be a figure like Empress Wu, yet the little white cat at best could be an Imperial Consort Yang Guifei with alluring eyes.

She was well-versed in all the joys of life, but her political schemes were all too lax.

Alice simply could not support such a large scene, and in the end, the jurisdiction over these Magical Beasts would surely still fall back into Merkel’s hands.

But such a roundabout relationship would only make both parties uncomfortable.

Hill’s initial care for the Magical Beasts was born out of kindness; why bother turning it into something mean for the sake of some scheming?

After Merkel confirmed that the Contract set by Hill indeed allowed the Magical Beasts to directly sever the Contract should the Undead Tribe leave this world, he happily was about to leave with Alice in tow, only to be met with a fierce slap from the little white cat.

Alice ignored the increasingly sharp gaze from Agleya and jumped directly into Hill’s arms, ”Hill, why can Agleya call you ’Dad’ and I can’t?”

Gently combing through her fur, Hill smiled tenderly, ”Alice, if it were only you, I truly wouldn’t mind. But, I cannot possibly become the father-in-law of the Beast King.

I can have a good relationship with Merkel, but it’s best not to have any other entanglements.

The relationship between Magical Beasts and humans will always involve competition, even in times of peace. My help for Merkel will be limited to the Magical Beasts, I will absolutely not help him with matters related to humans.

Even if Merkel has sworn not to initiate conflict with humans, it won’t work. There are ways to get around these things.”

”If you want to fight, you can always find a reason, at the very least, why not let the humans strike first?”

”What should I do if it really happens?” Alice thought for a moment and asked sorrowfully, ”It’s not related to the Dwarves at all, I can’t even heal the Magical Beasts.

In that case, even Merkel wouldn’t be able to protect me, right?”

Hill scratched her chin, making the white cat happily raise its head. Alice was simply naive, but her intelligence was not low, as long as she thought about it, she could see the most critical issues.

”What’s there to fear?” Agleya said with an arrogant tone, ”Even if Hill’s Dad has gone to other worlds by then, won’t I still be here? You just go straight back to the valley! I’d like to see who dares to trouble you?”

Alice stretched out her body, her front paws gently embracing Hill’s neck, and turned her head to look at the proud Sea God, ”Don’t think that just because you said that, I will forgive you for not planning to bring me along!

I’ve also set up a Statue in the wilderness! Right next to yours! You just had to say a word there and I would know!

As soon as I got the news, even if you don’t take me, I could have run over here on my own.”

Agleya wore a smug smile on her face, tilting her head to say, ”You’re just too slow! Besides, I came down directly from the Starry Sky, it wouldn’t have been possible to bring you along.

You running over here on your own? Don’t make me laugh! That leopard staring at me wouldn’t let you come by yourself, no way!”

Merkel had been anxiously circling around the family of three, wanting to soothe Alice’s emotions, but didn’t expect to be kicked when down by the Sea God.

”Merkel, you don’t need to say too much,” Hill said indifferently, ”This isn’t something that can happen in a short time. Nobody can guarantee what might happen in tens of thousands of years.

Agleya and I, we’re just providing Alice with a bit of security as relatives.

Of course, we hope that this security will never be needed.”

Merkel helplessly walked away with Alice, he was a smart leopard, and he wouldn’t argue with his cantankerous father-in-law or a tricky aunt at this time.

It was better to go home and comfort Alice.

”I’m a bit confused.” Agleya floated beside Hill, asking curiously, ”Hill’s Dad, you seem not to trust this leopard that much, so why not simply kill him?

Or send Alice to my Divine Kingdom? At most, she’ll be sad for a while, and maybe after some time she could forget that leopard.”

”Don’t talk nonsense,” Hill waved his hand, exasperated, ”He hasn’t deceived Alice, they truly love each other.

I’m just taking precautions, there’s no need to separate them directly.

Agleya, don’t interfere in someone else’s relationships, even if it’s your own daughter.

You may give your opinion, but whether to listen or not, that’s her freedom.”

Agleya pouted, ”Even if she might be unhappy?”

”That’s her own choice. At least while there’s love, she is happy,” Hill smiled, ”Think of it as her paying a price for a moment of joy.”

Agleya thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement, ”If she’s happy, indeed, there’s no need to think too much. If she’s betrayed, just kill him outright.”

Hill paused, then quickly revealed a cold smile, ”Exactly, just kill him.”

He looked at Agleya seriously, ”The matter of the Star Gate, you can’t really get involved, it’s just about choosing a location, anywhere is fine.

The main reason I called you out is because I want you to accept the Undead Tribe’s transformation.”

”Why?” Agleya asked curiously, tilting her head, ”I thought Hill’s Dad always disliked getting involved in the affairs of the Undead Tribe.”

”Of course, there are benefits!” Hill spoke calmly, ”After taking control of the ocean, Agleya has matured a lot! But your temper has gotten much worse.

The complexity and variability of the ocean have led you to change as well, although I don’t care what you become, but, Agleya, as the master of Law, you can’t be controlled by it.

Have the Undead Tribe spread your name to more worlds! After all, separated by a world, you won’t hear their nonsensical words.

Let these feelings of gratitude and worship become anchors, if Agleya’s thinking ever gets muddled by the laws, these anchor points can remind you of everything.”

Agleya smiled happily, ”I feel I won’t change, because Hill’s Dad is my firmest anchor. But I’m willing to do as Hill’s Dad says, it feels so good to be loved!”

The doors of the hall opened, and All Gods came out together, it seemed they had made their decision.

Agleya flew instantly in front of the God of Time and Space, ”Time and Space~ what resources do I need to convert the Undead Tribe into my Clan? How much can you share with me?”

The God of Time and Space was stunned for a moment, then, looking at Hill standing to the side, he shook his head and smiled, ”I’ll go back and calculate it, and then have William deliver it to your Temple.”

Agleya nodded in satisfaction, ”Many thanks, I’m really looking forward to it!”
