Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 541: Chapter 340: The Abyss and Hell Are the Eternal Enemies

Both William and Hill were plunged into deep thought.

Coron was the one who had sent them to this world; surely, those elves couldn’t be part of an evil faction, right?

The nature of elves was to be conspicuous regardless of their faction; they wouldn’t remain silent over something like a demon invasion, would they? So, were they secluding themselves because they believed this world wasn’t worth fighting for?

Could demons also possess the method to create pseudo-legends?

Their contemplation was soon interrupted by a loud female voice.

”Captain, don’t skirt around the important issues. Since when has the Radiant Knights Order needed to fear the descendants of deities?”

He didn’t say it, but I will. Our captain is probably worried about the future.

We people, for the honor of the Radiant Knights Order, can die a hundred times over without regret, but there are many ordinary people who rely on us to survive! They wouldn’t be able to live through those divine punishments.

However, I tend to think that unless the World Will abandons us too, those deities wouldn’t dare lay a hand on us.

”In our land, it’s an achievement for a king to become a knight, and most don’t live past a hundred and fifty years,” said a female knight, taking over the conversation. ”They say they are Divine Children, of noble status, that the mortal world is too filthy and not worthy of their prolonged presence.

No matter how great a king, they all end up enjoying a few decades of luxury before returning early to the Divine Kingdom.

Oh, what a grand historical legend.

Could it be because of their own seeking of death?”

It seems that the world rules of Gerns are still quite normal.

Hill flashed a smile at the spirited female knight, ”Beautiful lady, in a normal world, all classes must step aside in the presence of legends. For legends embody the law.

Legends can be killed, but not insulted.”

”Julia Aldesia. My name, deputy commander of the Radiant Knights Order,” Aldesia said crisply. ”Our Radiant Knights Order is actually doing alright.

We have no wish to kneel before the descendants of those deities who killed the Sun God, and we never visit any national cities.

Life is tough because of that, but even legendary knights can survive hardships, and occasionally selling some fine goods to mages who don’t care much about royal or divine authority is enough to support the whole Knights Order and our families.

The Radiant Knights Order has never feared a lack of successors; the world is full of orphans everywhere.

We’ve taken in every orphan we’ve come across.

Normally, those who can’t become knights are willing to help us manage merchant ventures in those countries, but as soon those countries catch wind of it, they come after us.

In Gerns, the Radiant Knights Order is recognized as the number one Knights Order. There’s always some king who considers himself mighty and thinks we would kneel before him.

Unfortunately, those so-called Royal Knights—bring any number of them, and we kill them all!

But we can’t have too much contact with the outside world anymore.

They can’t kill us, but they always find ways to deal with ordinary people.”

”So the radiance of the sun continues to shine upon you,” Hill said indifferently. ”You are resonators with the law. Among legendary knights, you must be among the strongest.

Light and justice, no less!”

William chuckled, ”Then it seems I’m the first king to receive the Radiant Knights Order’s homage! But, don’t do it again. I don’t wish to be hated by the laws of ’light’ and ’justice’ without reason.

No matter how close one claims to be to deity, as long as they are not, they don’t have the right to accept your homage.

Even legends have their distinctions.”

Mason bowed with a knight’s salute, his right fist against his left chest, bowing slightly, ”My apologies. Your Majesty, please forgive our ignorance.”

The knights of the Radiant Knights Order bowed their heads in salute following their captain.

At the moment Mason saluted, Hill floated over to Spencer’s side; being a legend himself, he had no interest in seeming superior to others.

”Don’t take it too much to heart,” William shook his head and gently raised his right palm to signal they could rise from their salute. ”I didn’t expect Gerns to be so chaotic in this regard.

Although I don’t know exactly what’s going on, I believe that as the world heals, the day will come when the truth will be unveiled.”

”Your Majesty, may we spread the relationship between law and legend?” asked Aldesia, her purple eyes looking earnestly at William.

”Of course, it’s no secret,” William laughed. ”Logically speaking, in this world, there should still be Legendary Mages who come in contact with the laws, right? There are only four Main Gods, how many laws can they occupy?”

”If you want to become a Legendary Mage, you only have the option of going to the Magic Kingdom. You must kneel before the descendants of the God of Magic and pray sincerely to the God of Magic to get this knowledge,” Aldesia said solemnly. ”Mages from the Radiant Knights Order can’t do that, and even becoming a Magister is difficult enough.”

”Could it be a Weave has been constructed?” William muttered under his breath, which Hill could scarcely hear despite her sharp ears.

”Hill, is there any issue using spells in this world?” William asked tentatively.

”I can directly communicate with the relevant laws of this world,” Hill raised her hand, indicating that all the laws were unproblematic.

”Moreover, when the Undead Tribe uses spells, isn’t it also quite easy? The World Will of Gerns accepted their existence from the beginning,” Hill said, her eyes full of doubt as she looked at William. What are you trying to ask?

”I just have some guesses,” William said lazily, leaning against the throne. ”You might be special, quite different from the mages of this world.

The World Will might have given you a backdoor, bypassing the rules laid down by the God of Magic.

But creatures born in this world probably can’t do it unless some mage is extraordinarily talented, has exceptional perseverance, and extremely high insight. Otherwise, how could they struggle out of the huge net spread by the deities?

Even if they have all these qualities, they still need to survive being hunted by the God of Magic.

I remember you have some magic books, why don’t you study them closely? But before you find out why, it’s best not to learn the spells of this world.

Otherwise, you might even trap yourself.”

Hill nodded, ”I understand. I will notify His Majesty the King immediately once I have the results of the research.”

William smiled with satisfaction, ”Then I’ll wait for your good news.”

Those books were all low-level magic books, which Hill had barely looked at; the cruelty of this world had scared him, and he hadn’t paid any attention to the spells.

Unless the laws are different, the incantations for spells of all elements are much the same. Hill hadn’t thought there would be any significant differences in this same Elemental World.

Hill couldn’t help but think again of the discussions he had heard among the Undead Tribe.

In some ways, Teraxil might truly be considered a beginner’s village!

Hill looked up at Snow Cloud Peak standing at the door. The fellow had broadcasted up to now and couldn’t hide his thievish look beneath his expression of admiration.

But suddenly, Hill had a feeling that there really might be such a Weave.

So what if it was set up by the Evil Faction? Once in hand, couldn’t you just cleanse it with Divine Power and use it?

The idea William had to advance the Undead Tribe to Pseudo-Legends would be a lot easier with this Weave!

Otherwise, the advancement of a Legendary Mage would cost him his life.

With a formed Weave, a slight modification would allow other professions to advance as well, while the requirements for the Physical Class were much less than those for a Legendary Mage.

Hill suddenly understood something: Gerns was not the most troublesome world in this universe.

The World Tree and Coron chose here as their first target probably because of this Weave.

Once a large part of the Undead Tribe becomes Pseudo-Legends, tackling the most dangerous worlds would be easy to stand firm in.

Even if there was a gap in power, the Undead would no longer be completely incapable of resistance.

The final goal of Coron and the World Tree, could it be those False Gods?

Hill shook his head; the intentions of these powerful deities were beyond his guesswork. But he was already thinking of leaving. If it truly was a Weave, he needed to take a close look.

He had always been concerned about how to adapt if he went to a world controlled by the true Goddess of Magic.

The opportunity was perfect. Even if he could bypass the Weave, he would still need to appear somewhat similar to the mages of that world when mingling amongst the crowd.

After pondering for a while, William asked Mason, ”You’re dissatisfied with those deities and didn’t kneel to the kings they put forward. Have you not been attacked by those deities?”

”There were attacks in the past. The Radiant Knights Order was rebuilt many times. Later, I don’t know why, but those deities rarely acted on their own. The Knight Corps and Mage Corps couldn’t break the Radiant Knights,” Mason said casually, but his tone hid untold hardship and tears, ”Then, when demons massively invaded Gerns, the World Will suddenly appeared, giving us a blessing.

In this world, there are many forces resisting demons, but only the Radiant Knights Order received such honor for upholding the glory of knights. Since then, no one has troubled us.”

”Isn’t that because the demons are doing their job for them?” Julia Aldesia said with a hint of a cold smile.

No, that’s because they are two different factions! Of course, the devils would no longer target you, leaving you to fight the demons. Isn’t that better?

Those four deities are either Evil Gods or devils.

But even if they were Evil Gods, they would still be living in Hell, where they should naturally take action against demons, right?

The Abyss and Hell are eternal enemies.

Hill couldn’t help but look back in the direction of the Star Gate. Teraxil must have originally been the strongest faction in the Abyss, which is why that devil blended in among humans and left lineage, but never made any significant moves.

But in this world, it must have been the devils who came first. The demons likely followed the scent of the devils.

Hill wanted to go back and draw a mind map; he felt the world of Gerns was messily complex.

But if it was devils, their intangible, formless nature could indeed have blended into the World Will as it was formed.

Pretentious Demon Lords controlling laws is not something unheard of.

The urge to study the Weave closely also sounded like a devilish trait; they love to keep everything under their control.

Hill decided it was time to say goodbye. He needed to go back and look at the Magic Books.
