Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 518: Chapter 317 The Last Celebration Before Departure

Hill, who was buried in his work, organizing the settings inside the ring-shaped hall, was startled by the intense elemental reaction outside.

He quickly put down the mithril plate at the outermost part of the round building and peeked outside through the only small window he had left open.

Sure enough, it was Aurelio.

A small hurricane had already started to form around his house.

The thick mithril plate outside the house clanged loudly as it was pounded by the storm.

Although the hurricane was fierce, its target was Aurelio’s location and had not yet reached Hill’s side.

Hill watched anxiously, not knowing how a demigod ascended. Hill, who was far from reaching that level, had not yet awakened to memories associated with such inheritances.

Aurelio’s ascension continued for three days. When the mithril plate was about to be distorted by the rotating storm, the elements converging above the cabin suddenly disappeared all at once.

Hill widened his eyes and couldn’t help but let out a soft ”ah.” Aurelio rushed out directly from the door and charged straight into the terrifying hurricane outside the room.

He stood on his hind legs, his bear claws swinging out shadows. With Aurelio’s earth-shattering roar, the elemental storm was directly torn apart.

Hill saw for the first time that an elemental storm could be shredded into wisps of breeze and finally disappear into the air. He was deeply shocked.

Hill finally somewhat understood why pure power had always been celebrated and sung about. In his eyes, Aurelio had never seemed so mighty and powerful.

Hill looked up, feeling overwhelmed.

Of course, he quickly swept away that strange feeling.

Aurelio wouldn’t leave him much room for fantasy.

After surveying his surroundings, the newly ascended Earth Bear rushed toward him madly, ”Hill! Ah, ah, ah! Quickly give me food! I’m starving! I can eat ten of myself now!”

Hill quickly raised the mithril plate and took out all the cooked food he had saved, letting the puppets in the kitchen start cooking. During this period when only he was around, Hill had long ordered the puppets to stop the kitchen work.

But it still wasn’t enough.

He had no choice but to take out the fruit he had saved for the little bears. Fortunately, the puppets were quick and had already started delivering food.

Hill leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, watching Aurelio devour the food, and notified Li Si to be sure to reserve food for himself.

He didn’t want to end up in such a miserable state one day.

But why didn’t any Earth Bear tell him that Aurelio would need food after coming out?

Hill was a bit frightened.

Finally satisfied, Aurelio lay on his back, patting his belly, and explained to Hill, ”I had some reserves, but I don’t know why, those few days I really craved food, so I ate everything.

Luckily you were here, otherwise, I would have had to run out and catch magical beasts to eat.”

Hill couldn’t help but sigh. So Aurelio had a sudden craving and ate the food he needed after his ascension.

Luckily, he was the only one here; otherwise, Aurelio would definitely get beaten again.

Haiweirsen laughed as he walked into the Ring Mountain.

He sat quietly on the ground, completely ignoring the exclamations and praises of the more than a hundred Earth Bears who followed him in.

It was a circular building over ten meters high, located in the middle of the entire valley.

The outermost layer consisted of hundreds of pillars, and between them and the main building was a ring corridor wide enough for three large bears to walk side by side.

Haiweirsen looked up at the thick layers of mithril plates on top of the corridor, suspecting that these were the mithril outer walls that Hill had mentioned before, which could be lowered.

Because of these outer walls, the inner walls had so many golden transparent floor-to-ceiling windows, and a few young Earth Bears had already rushed over to look inside.

But it seemed they didn’t see any rooms, but a lawn planted with small shrubs.

Haiweirsen took a proud look at the other bears who were joining in the fun, holding his head high as he walked toward the main entrance of the ring-shaped hall.

Hill was smiling and standing there waiting for him!

Hill found his old ancestor’s look of pride really quite cute.

Probably because a golden, plush big bear, no matter how arrogant, would make anyone want to laugh.

He led Haiweirsen inside through the foyer.

This 1,000-square-meter foyer was specially set up by Hill for entertaining familiar guest friends.

Although it wasn’t possible in the short term, Hill always felt that the Earth Bears would eventually communicate with the outside world.

As for unfamiliar guests, Hill didn’t think the Earth Bears would let them into this circular mountain.

At that time, they could just place the original main house outside.

Haiweirsen looked up at the tall foyer. Hill had expanded its height to thirty meters to suit the habits of the Earth Bears.

After all, there would always be bears wanting to stand on two legs to play wrestling.

Hill smiled and said to him, ”We’ll decorate the foyer later; let’s go inside and have a look first.”

Walking through the inner door, they first encountered a ring corridor just like the one outside.

Then there was a vast lawn plaza.

The young Earth Bears couldn’t hold back anymore. They pushed aside the obstructing clan leader and rushed directly inside to roll around.

Hill looked at a few mother bears, their noses buried in the shrubs in separated spaces, smelling the fragrance of the tiny white flowers. He couldn’t help but laugh.

If they liked it, Hill felt his efforts were worth it.

Haiweirsen had already seen the puppets moving in and out of the two larger rooms opposite the foyer. It seemed those were the kitchen and storage rooms.

He glanced around at the many doors lining the corridor and said solemnly, ”Go pick your rooms!”

Hill added, ”Once you’ve chosen, input your spiritual power into the door. From then on, the house belongs to you, and only you can open it. Each door can accommodate up to the spiritual power of five bears.”

But Hill awkwardly found that even with couples and lovers among them, the Earth Bears just picked neighboring rooms, having no intention of living together.

Some even chose to live closer to their siblings, with their significant others’ rooms being hundreds of meters away.

Grace nervously asked Hill, ”Can this spiritual power be revoked? When Oriana is old enough to live alone, can I completely kick her out?”

Hill nodded awkwardly, feeling there was something he hadn’t quite understood.

Fortunately, he built enough rooms for every bear to pick one, with plenty to spare.

When picking their neighbors, the Earth Bears didn’t seem to have any intention of residing near their parents but instead chose childhood companions of similar age to live with.

Even the three little bears picked rooms near Aurelio, becoming neighbors.

While they were still minors, the mother bears would only allow the little bears to enter their houses to find them.

Hill bashfully pushed back the long hair slipping down his face, tucking it behind his ear. His judgment seemed to be a bit off; the Earth Bears might not be a family-centric species.

Perhaps raising a daughter gave Haiweirsen’s misleading impression, making Hill think that Earth Bears had similar family structures to humans.

It seemed like they followed the mother-bear-raising tradition, and couples had no desire to live together, maintaining a bit of distance between them.

Even Haiweirsen joined in the room-picking battle.

To an Earth Bear, the best room was, of course, the one next to the kitchen.

Unfortunately, Haiweirsen didn’t snag it; he had to begrudgingly pick the room next door.

Hill quickly picked a room close to the foyer and slipped in, evading Haiweirsen’s sneaky glance back.

He saved his old ancestor a bit of face.

There were only a few bears picking rooms on this side of the foyer, mainly the young ones who knew they couldn’t compete with the big bears in the ongoing brawl, and had no choice but to choose the left half of the foyer.

Aurelio did the same. He seemed to have counted the room numbers on both sides and picked a room on the right side of the foyer, closest to the kitchen.

The three little bears picked the rooms next to his.

Only Hill chose a room next to the foyer.

He had long packed up his snail-shell house. As a member of the clan, Hill would, of course, live here too.

He preferred being closer to the entrance; having grown accustomed to flying, Hill really didn’t want to walk too far.

Though a 400-square-meter room wasn’t that big, it was enough for Hill since his alchemy lab had been moved to the warehouse in the mountains.

Hill released the puppets to arrange the room, standing at the door and watching the scene outside.

Aurelio’s dad, Ihab, was incredibly strong.

He was twice the size of Haiweirsen, and a swing of his claw could send a comparable-sized Earth Bear flying.

Apart from Haiweirsen, who quickly picked the room next door to avoid being seen getting beaten up by Hill, the other bears were subdued by Ihab.

Hill merrily watched the melee; this might be the Earth Bears’ last carnival before heading to the World’s End.

Even though the rooms were next door, they were willing to fight for a spot closer to the kitchen.

Hill could feel their excitement.

After thousands of years of either lying outdoors or living communally, the Earth Bears finally had their own dens.

Hill used the last bit of ingredients from his pendant to have the puppets prepare a grand feast.

The Earth Bears quickly calmed down from their sudden excitement, and a row of stone tables rose up from the lawn, filled with gourmet delicacies and mountain treasures.

Although there wasn’t high-level magical beast meat, it was obvious whose handiwork it was, but the myriad flavors were enough to satisfy all the bears.

Especially the sweets, there were so many that all the bears’ eyes sparkled.

This was a banquet Hill could also attend. Amid the wild scramble, Hill ended up overeating and had to clutch the wall to walk back to his room.

He left early, the other Earth Bears still eating voraciously. Only Hill had to walk around the corridor to digest.

After returning, he washed up and rested well.

When he got up, the Earth Bears had long departed.

Hill saw the three little bears playing on the lawn and walked out of the Circular Mountain Range, continuing his training.

Now, he could venture out to dozens of kilometers north of the mountains.
