Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 539: Chapter 338: The Radiant Knights Order Kneels on One Knee!

Spencer himself was of noble birth and very much understood what sort of creatures the great nobility were.

No matter how filthy they were in secret, they might go years without a bath, but in public, even a speck of dust would provoke a thunderous outburst.

The nobles in this world only acted in a way that was more exaggerated than those from Teraxil.

That’s why he had specifically chosen the Black Rose’s Wild Boar Squad.

The reaction they would have after rolling in the muck would determine William’s attitude towards this visiting team.

The formidable pressure from these legendary knights could easily irritate the sensitive and irascible boars, causing them to lose control.

How they would respond to a minor mishap by the enthusiastically welcoming visitors from the Otherworld was precisely what Spencer wanted to observe.

He wasn’t afraid of the knights getting angry, which was normal; Spencer had already prepared himself to come forward and apologize. Of course, the person directly responsible from Snow Cloud Peak had already penned an apology letter by heart.

But what he was concerned about was whether they could endure this wrath, or whether they would lash out at the Undead Tribe on the spot.

If these legendary knights would still act without any consideration under the watchful eyes of so many Sky Knights, then these guys simply weren’t worth William’s intervention.

If they still harbored grudges over trivial mistakes made by those who came to help this world, then these people probably didn’t really care about what would happen to this world at all.

Generally speaking, people who seek help from others, even if they can’t be like King Noah, should at least act somewhat humble and respectful, similar to how the other countries did.

Those who demanded help with arrogance, unless they had another source of confidence.

Spencer and William actually had relatively low expectations for the indigenous people of this world, a world rampant with evil; it was entirely normal for there to be those still resisting, even if their allegiance lay with problematic factions.

Even within the Evil Faction, not everyone would want to see their own world slide into the Abyss and themselves transform into ugly demons.

Spencer was already prepared for all the legendary natives coming over to be of a neutral but evil-leaning faction.

However, the outcome was much better than Spencer and Hill had anticipated.

Those knights who laughed heartily within the curtain of water, their radiant smiles made Hill too burst into laughter.

The female knights included, who even completely let their waist-length hair down, clutching strands in their hands and showing great fondness towards the mist in front of them.

Hill sighed, their days must be quite tough.

Spencer appeared at the main entrance of the Royal Palace: ”Welcome, knights of Gerns!”

The leading knight gently removed his helmet, ”Greetings to you, visitors from the Otherworld. We are Commander Mason and members of the Radiant Knights Order from Gerns, a resistance faction. The World Will of our world has called us here.”

He gracefully dismounted his horse.

This was a very heroic knight, not especially handsome, but with a resolute expression on his sharply defined face and his tall stature was quite imposing; Commander Mason’s height, judged by eye, should be close to 3 meters.

His members were also tall, but just over two meters, including both ladies.

Two meters is the basic height for knights, so it’s rare for Saral’s nobility to have any short people. The process of becoming a knight is to break through one’s genetic limits; hence their height naturally increases.

That’s why, if an heir to a knightly family couldn’t grow tall at all, they would usually start grooming the next in line.

Just like Prince Edward of Saral. At court banquets, he used to stand at the very front of the Royal Family Members, which was very conspicuous; he wasn’t even as tall as Hill.

Indeed, there were knights who experienced dramatic breakthroughs, but their height was never that short, and that’s why the King and the Nobles had concluded from the start that he could never succeed.

Although it was a bit cruel, to be judged as an unlikely candidate for the next King for not growing tall, Edward wasn’t deprived of his position as the first in line for succession in public; it was just an unspoken consensus.

Perhaps it was under those sympathetic and contemptuous gazes that Edward went mad. Hill had once heard William and Spencer discussing Edward, saying his cheap older brother hated their father most of all.

The children, even the Princesses, had inherited a good deal of the Sky Knight’s excellent genes, but Edward, just the inferior ones.

Edward believed deep down that it was because the Old King detested his biological mother so much that he ended up like this.

That’s why he could kill his father without hesitation.

But in a world with deities, those who dared to do such a thing were as good as madmen.

If it hadn’t been for the threat from William, the Noble Church would have just killed him to let Charles ascend.

”Then, welcome to the knights of the Radiant Knights Order.

His Majesty King William of Teraxil has been looking forward to your arrival with great anticipation, please come in.

I am Spencer, and any incident you encountered at the camp can be brought to me,” Spencer said with a very polite smile.

The Radiant Knights Order, huh? Hill quietly mused over the name, settling down quietly as he waited.

It seemed that because Commander Mason had spoken more succinctly, without using any elaborate noble etiquette, the conversation with Spencer also dispensed with the long registration ceremony.

Thank heavens, Hill had indeed been a bit worried that the Undead Tribe would burst into laughter halfway through, causing Spencer to die of embarrassment right there and then.

But this Sky Knight of great nobility couldn’t stand idly by while the other party used noble etiquette and he did nothing.

The inherent meticulousness of the Spencer Family prompted him to take the risk.

”Our horses,” Mason said, somewhat embarrassed, ”we must take them to the stables ourselves, they have bad temperaments.”

Hill couldn’t help but look at the tall and majestic horses, which were shaking their long manes at the moment. Whether they were bad tempered was hard to tell, but they did seem to like bathing.

And there were also horses nuzzling their masters, which Hill deduced was a sign they wanted to be groomed.

They must be a horse breed unique to this world, large white horses with exceptionally thick hooves, clearly capable of bearing heavy loads.

When they had galloped over just now, their speed was quite impressive, comparable to the flying speed of a human mage.

Hill watched the horses with interest, their tall ears resembling those of elves, able to lower them as they ran.

Spencer glanced towards Snow Cloud Peak where the Undead Mage had been waiting outside the Alchemy Hut on the left, it was time for a new task now.

”The guest rooms have been prepared long ago.” Snow Cloud Peak was always quick to respond, swiftly changing his demeanor.

He flew atop a Magic Elephant’s head and greeted the Radiant Knights Order with a beaming smile, ”Honored guests, please follow me. I’ll lead you to the place of rest, where the stables have already been prepared.”

Hill silently smiled. It seemed Spencer was a bit uncertain about these fellows and simply left them to the watchful eyes of the Undead Tribe.

Even if a dwelling and stable hadn’t been prepared for these knights initially, by the time Snow Cloud Peak led them to the far right side, they would be ready.

It was nothing more than adding another Alchemy Hut, the simplest kind of empty house would do, and a few Earth Sect Magicians could rush in to build the compartments.

The Mason Knights’ actions were swift; they settled the giant horses, towering at two meters tall, and quickly returned.

They only inspected the stables and didn’t even look at the houses they would be staying in for the upcoming period.

It seemed they were indeed in a hurry, or at least they appeared very anxious.

Especially when they saw the rows of priests atop the walls and the ceaseless Holy Rain falling from the sky, the knights couldn’t contain their urge to venture towards the walls and catch the raindrops with their hands.

Snow Cloud Peak started to smile, he took out a tablet and tapped on it, and soon, the priests who had not yet reached the walls began to send Holy Rain down upon them.

The majority of the gathered Undead dispersed, including two Magical Beast squads.

Compared to spectating, the demons outside—an opportunity for experience—were more tempting to them.

Spencer relaxed a bit; although the Holy Rain, not reaching Legendary Level, had limited power, the incessant rain still posed a hindrance even for Great Demons. They could endure, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t painful when it hit them.

The knights seemed overjoyed, almost ready to sing and dance in the rain.

If there were any further issues, it would be up to William to notice them.

”Mr. Spencer,” Mason called out to his subordinates to gather, feeling embarrassed as he approached, ”for misfortunate souls like us who live in darkness all year round, the holy dew only appears in the songs of bards.

Everyone is raised on these ballads, yet we have never experienced it. Though it may sound pitiable, which child of the Radiant Knights Order hasn’t dreamt of rejoicing in Holy Rain?”

”Is Your Radiant Knights Order directly affiliated with the Church of the Sun God?” Spencer asked, visibly moved, ”The Sun God of our world also seems to have bestowed this name upon His own knight order.

He doesn’t need a church, only intending to establish a knight order to uphold His firm conviction in justice and radiance.”

Mason suddenly stopped in his tracks: ”The Radiant Knights Order of Teraxil? Might I have the chance to see it?”

Hill thought to himself that what he probably wanted to see more was the Sun God.

It seemed that the Radiant Knights Order had long known of the Sun God of Gerns who had utterly perished, with little chance of being reborn.

”The Sun God of our world suffered severe wounds as well and has only recently revived,” Spencer said with a beaming smile, unblinkingly, ”The Radiant Knights Order has just been founded, with few members to speak of, and consisted only of Sky Knights. It couldn’t possibly venture to Gerns for an adventure.

Regrettably, we can only wait until Gerns is back to normal before we meet again.

Please come in! Commander Mason and the knights, His Majesty King William has been waiting for a long time.”

Hill glanced at William and blinked. Sometime when he wasn’t looking, the King of Saral returned to his true form, sitting regally on the throne as he watched the Royal Palace gates.

”Your Majesty King William, the Radiant Knights Order seeks an audience.” Commander Mason, with his group having entered the hall, immediately knelt on one knee.

Hill stood up in shock—a Legendary kneeling!
