Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 538: Chapter 337: Arrival of the Legendary Knights Squad

Spencer was moved, glanced at William who appeared expressionless and seemingly hadn’t heard, and furiously tapped on his tablet.

Hill walked around, came to stand next to Spencer, and followed his gaze.

He could actually communicate directly with Snow Cloud Peak; Spencer really had high authority on William’s side.

”Snow Cloud Peak said changing people is okay, but the task rewards for the people originally prepared to line up can’t be reduced, they’ve practiced for a long time. Changing now would create big trouble,” Spencer said hesitantly, ”His Majesty of Time and Space actually guarded against His Majesty the King messing things up, task permissions are very tightly restricted, the rewards for this task were locked once they were issued.

I can only offer other things to Baldy and his group, but everything I brought is in the task warehouse, managed by that His Majesty’s Divine Artifacts, and must have a justification to be taken out.

His Majesty the King has nothing but Crystal Stones; he left most stuff to Saral.

If there are only Crystal Stones, would the Undead Tribe still be willing to do it?”

”I’ll contribute a part; I not only have potions but also some Magister equipment. If it’s just for one battle team, these items combined with the Crystal Stone rewards should be enough,” Hill said briskly.

As for experience, Spencer could easily issue a time-limited task to the Undead Tribe, just not a welcoming task.

He stealthily glanced at William, who sat sternly on the throne, thinking to himself that this guy really was like the Monkey King under the Five Finger Mountain!

No wonder he always gave him the impression of a rebellious child wanting to wreak havoc in the heavens.

However, Hill remembered that previously, William could casually issue tasks; what did he do to suddenly make the God of Time and Space restrict him?

Hill’s curious gaze kept darting toward William, who posed as a thinker.

”What are you looking at? Hill, can’t you learn to be more mature?” William suddenly turned his head toward Hill, a corner of his mouth revealing a sinister smile. Hill’s defiant gaze clearly was silently questioning him about what had provoked the God of Time and Space.

”Is it because His Majesty the King insisted on visiting the Otherworld personally?” Caught, Hill straightforwardly asked the doubt in his mind.

Hill felt it was like a lesson from a wealthy boss to a successor who instead of wanting to inherit the family business, wanted to start his own enterprise — a slight lesson.

You can’t give nothing at all for fear of the child getting into trouble, but also have to make him understand that independence isn’t so easy; without Dad’s unlimited support, let’s see if he can survive on his own!

William turned his head away, ignoring Hill.

Spencer straightforwardly said, ”Of course that’s the reason! Otherwise, His Majesty the King would have absolute authority over the Divine Artifacts controlling the Undead Tribe, and could issue any task on a whim, revising them as usual.

His Majesty of Time and Space was never so angry before; he directly descended in an incarnation and scolded His Majesty the King for several days. Previously when His Majesty the King made mistakes, that His Majesty would just scold him over the link.

His Majesty the King was already preparing to ignite the Divine Fire; His Majesty of Time and Space had even prepared the embryonic form of the Divine Kingdom for him.

Yet, he insisted on adventuring in this world. Although I am willing to follow His Majesty the King, I can also understand what is meant by an elder’s anger.

Moreover, not being in the same world, His Majesty of Time and Space worried that His Majesty the King might overplay his strengths, so placed many restrictions.”

Hill blinked, and after some thought, he suddenly realized — wasn’t William’s strength his talent for offending people with his words?

Luckily, List had already sorted out the items Hill needed, notifying him that they could be taken. Otherwise, Hill really would have burst out laughing.

He wasn’t William’s cousin; it was better not to make it too obvious.

”Time and Space is just overthinking. Is it wrong to want to be stronger than him?” William said solemnly, ”Who doesn’t dream of surpassing their elders?”

Hill handed the ring to Spencer, then turned and comforted him: ”There aren’t many restrictions really; His Majesty the King just has to be more careful when issuing tasks in the future, right?

This is for His Majesty the King’s own good, isn’t it? If something goes wrong in this world, the God of Time and Space can’t correct it so promptly.”

And indeed, supplies here needed to be calculated more precisely; the Star Gate only opened once every three months! What would happen if William used resources too recklessly and they ran out before three months?

Would he have to explain to the Undead Tribe what short-term bankruptcy means?

William couldn’t pretend anymore, and slumped half-lying on the throne: ”Ah~~~ I don’t want to do such troublesome things! In the past, Spencer issued tasks and Time would directly filter them, and if there was no problem, it was fine.

Now I have to deal with it all myself, and it’s so tiring!”

Spencer scoffed, ”Most things are done by me; I just let you confirm them. What are you tired of? You were just too comfortable being hands-off before, so now doing some real work makes you complain of fatigue.”

He quickly ran out to handle things: ”The Black Rose Family is already gathering; they’re quite satisfied with the task reward.”

”What task did you issue?” William asked curiously.

”A beautifying task at the camp entrance, time-limited to five hours,” Spencer replied offhandedly.

”Sometimes, I really don’t know if Cousin Naven is naturally wicked or not!” William stared at Spencer walking out and mumbled.

Hill kept silent, feeling this was just a regular reaction from an everyday overtime worker.

”Hill, are you going to receive the guests this time?” William asked directly, stretching lazily, ”If you just want to watch the spectacle, stay on the second floor.”

”I’ll just watch.” Hill had no interest in participating in such activities.

”It seems that you haven’t given up on the idea of traveling alone,” William concluded, ”but it’s not feasible in the short term, too dangerous.”

Hill nodded, ”I understand, thank you for your concern, Your Majesty. I will wait patiently.”

William smiled and nodded, then disappeared from the throne, ”Then you come over first! Hide before those people arrive.”

Hill slowly walked out of the Stone Palace, realizing that William hadn’t mentioned the World Will of Gerns at all.

Yet, there was also no sign of caution, it was essentially a stance of laissez-faire, letting him do as he pleased.

So, the World Will of Gerns must have encountered some trouble initially, which is why it ignored everything until the World Tree noticed something amiss and rescued it, though it was already too late.

Could this be the result of being targeted by both the Abyss and Hell?

What sins did this world of Gerns commit!

Hill reached the Royal Palace in the valley, entering directly to the second floor through the back door.

This was a typical Western-style hall, with only two floors, and a hollow center, with long balcony-style corridors on both sides.

The sides were unconnected; to get to the opposite side one had to go down to the first floor and cross over.

Clearly, this Royal Palace was prepared for receiving guests.

On the balcony corridors, facing the hall were thick, double-layer curtains, with couches arranged between them. Guest rooms lay beyond the rear side.

When Hill entered, the guards directly led him to the left side; it seemed the right side was intended for guests.

Hill selected a balcony with a good view and sat down, where he could see both the camp’s entrance through the expansive windows and William’s bored face seated on the throne.

Hill abruptly turned his head back: That wasn’t William!

Such a lifelike Legendary Puppet could only have been made by Fran.

But it must have also been blessed with Divine Power, appearing almost like a demigod, though much weaker than William. If one hadn’t seen William before, one would never doubt whether it was really him or not.

But William indeed had come over! Hill examined carefully and noticed a separate small space behind the curtains wafting behind the throne.

This was the first time Hill saw William take such precautions; he couldn’t help but look towards the camp’s entrance.

Snow Cloud Peak had made a smart arrangement; he positioned his family’s Magic Elephant Legion within the valley, flanking the main road leading to the Royal Palace.

The massive Magic Elephants were majestic and powerful; the knights seated atop them were dashing and handsome, in bright armor, holding long lances horizontally.

This was a very solemn greeting for distinguished guests.

Quite unlike the restless Wild Boar Legion outside the open valley.

Though also arrayed on both sides, each time Hill looked over, none of the boars stayed still.

They too had fully armed knights on their backs, but each one had their face visors down; clearly, people from Black Rose did not want to end up as a backdrop in some comedy blockbuster.

William had forecasted the time accurately; less than 10 minutes after the Undead Tribe was set up, a group of knights rushed from afar, screaming, ”Close the gates!”

Dark, dense Demons followed closely behind them.

The knights of Black Rose reacted swiftly; they quickly gathered together, directing their mounts to fling a large amount of mud.

Hill couldn’t tell who was in command, but their timing was impeccable, smearing these knights with foul-smelling mud without trapping them in the mud pits behind.

The Magic cast by the boars to release continuous mud pits was not only stinky but also very deep, enough to completely submerge a knight.

While the knights from Black Rose frantically returned to the valley and the thick gates closed, Hill had already seen the undaunted Demons charging directly into the mud pits, then struggling to get out.

For Earth System Magical Beasts, gravity acceleration was a talent.

Snow Cloud Peak reacted swiftly; he didn’t give the guests a moment to be outraged as the long trunks of the Magic Elephants squirted streams of water, bathing a group of knights who had charged towards the Royal Palace without realizing what was happening.

However, the spectating Undead Tribe had already captured their comical plight.

They were all in armor, but most had long hair. Even if washed clean by the water, it was probably very uncomfortable.

Several knights immediately took off their helmets, tousling their hair, trying to clean it a bit more.

Hill leaned back in his chair and laughed: This was an entirely Legendary squad of knights. It seemed Spencer’s probing was off to a decent start.
