Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 533: Chapter 332: The First Day of the New World, Still the Old Craft

The location of the Star Gate was in a massive valley, capable of holding tens of millions of people. However, apart from the latter half where the Star Gate was situated, there were absolutely no defenses in the other areas.

Hill somewhat understood that establishing the Star Gate to send reinforcements was feasible, but if these two gods with immense divine power were to take action themselves, they were very likely to face the Lord of the Abyss and the Demon Lord.

Without absolute supremacy, the deities would not risk their own lives, unless the demons stretched their hands towards their Main World.

The Undead Tribe, fueled by their disregard for life, had already pushed the demons on the ground back, and now only the flying demons that were blotting out the sky continued their relentless assault.

The mages of the Undead tried to fly up to counterattack, but to no avail; the demons had taken complete control of the high altitudes.

Hill looked up at the demons in the sky, their numbers so vast they obscured the sun, and the seemingly endless barrage of javelins gave him a headache.

This was a war that made Hill feel even the Undead Tribe did not have enough numbers.

Hill peeked forward, seeing a defensive line composed of thousands of Earth Knights pressing on with effort; they must have rushed over right after changing their classes!

The resonance of the earth allowed them to stand their ground firmly, so it seemed there were no issues.

The peaks on both sides of this valley were high, and with only one entrance, not many demons were willing to climb; after all, there were already flying demons attacking from above!

Without the command of a Demon Lord, low-ranking demons actually weren’t that smart, their nature was pure brute force.

The only consolation was that despite the terrifying number of demons outside, there weren’t many above the legendary level, which the Undead Tribe was still capable of handling.

Quite a few Water Mages had already started to conjure blizzards, and just as Hill was about to blend in and cast along, he noticed a Great Demon bursting towards the perimeter of the knights.

A high-level Six-Armed Serpent Demon, truly a familiar face to everyone!

Such beings, which once perished alongside the Undead Tribe, were spotted by Hill all around, thankfully only this one had charged toward the front.

He quickly released a Blizzard.

The Six-Armed Serpent Demon failed to notice that the snowflakes fluttering in the sky were of little harm; they were one of the races among demons with a higher resistance to ice magic.

The serpent demon, with a fierce visage, swung down its four scimitars, and then let out a scream as it rolled on the ground in agony.

Even the unseen sun was still radiating light and heat.

On Hill, Teraxil’s blessing from the Sun God seemed to have its uses in this world as well.

Hill couldn’t help but glance at the sky, where the sun gods of this place were either in deep slumber or had completely fallen.

The sun naturally followed the laws of other world’s sun gods.

Though the Undead Tribe did not understand what was going on, for them, finishing off the foe was paramount.

A high-level demon lying on the ground, completely devoid of the strength to fight back, attracted countless gleams of swords and spells.

Knight were already bellowing, ”Loot quickly! Get back here! We can’t hold them off any longer.”

Fortunately, more of the Undead Tribe started to arrive, probably having received news of the battle; they mostly came in organized groups.

But a more serious problem had emerged, this place was becoming too crowded to stand.

Millions could stand firm, but tens of millions made the place somewhat overcrowded.

And yet more people kept pouring in endlessly.

At this moment, the numerical advantage of the demons began to fade.

High-level demons had already started to retreat; they didn’t plan to launch a full-scale assault just yet.

Hill could feel that when the high-level demons withdrew, they didn’t view the numerous Undead Tribe as a threat.

They were confident they could make a comeback.

It was probably those two deities who had deliberately chosen a rather remote location. Without a unified command, the disorganized demons definitely couldn’t stop the advance of the Undead Tribe.

But their commander must be an extremely powerful Demon Lord, with very high-ranking subordinates.

It’s even possible that the reason why many benevolent deities were missing from this world was due to the actions of this Demon Lord.

The assault of the low-ranking demons did not cease, yet Hill had already stopped casting spells.

A good number of Earth System Defensive Knights had arrived, their Great Shields linked together forming a mountain range at the forefront.

The Undead Tribe always had a way to communicate with each other; the priests, who had barely entered the fray, were now clearly directed to converge on the battlefield.

When they stood in the middle, surrounded and protected by the Knight Corps, the outcome of the battle was set.

The demons in the sky could only wail as they were pushed far away under the successive strikes of the blizzard and the Holy Rain.

No matter how numerous the low-ranking demons were, they couldn’t withstand such pure holy onslaught.

The Undead Tribe, after years of battling demons from inside the Abyssal Gate, had developed their own tactics.

Hill saw that they had already divided themselves into distinctive zones, beginning to push outward.

Hill was somewhat worried about the earth beneath his feet; demons had a knack for digging.

Then he saw the Earth Mages of the Undead Tribe lining up from the Star Gate, digging three feet into the ground.

Hill didn’t quite understand, wondering what the purpose of digging such a shallow trench was. So he squatted down again, wanting to see how the Undead Tribe would respond.

To his surprise, he witnessed an immense Holy Rain, a spell released simultaneously by hundreds of thousands of priests, quickly filling the shallow pits left by the Earth Mages.

Soon after, the Water Mages followed up by casting Freezing Spells.

Just as Hill worried about how they would fight on the frozen ground, the group of Earth Mages returned, the soil they had turned over returned to its place.

The knights summoned their warhorses and began to gallop wildly on this path.

Although occasionally some careless souls would collide with their comrades, the ground was trampled firm and solid by the relentless pounding of hooves.

Earth Mages from the Undead Tribe also appeared in large numbers on both side of the mountains, working to transform the mountainsides into vertical walls.

The Undead Tribe had already begun preparations to establish a camp.

The Undead who had rushed to the outskirts had not yet returned, but the millions who remained had already constructed a tall and wide wall at the entrance to the valley.

At this point, less than half of the Undead emerging from the Star Gate had arrived.

Hill saw some familiar faces among the Undead who had begun setting up uniformly shaped Alchemy Huts from the Star Gate.

They were checking against tablets, and it was clear they had a comprehensive design plan.

As Hill observed the orderly camp, he confirmed his suspicion that the Undead Tribe wasn’t without leadership.

This could not possibly be the work of the Undead themselves, as even Snow Cloud Peak, whom Hill considered very competent, could not achieve such strict compliance.

His limit was commanding wars involving hundreds of thousands of men; any more, and he would lose control.

And such a Snow Cloud Peak was already one of the top Great Commanders in the Undead Tribe.

Hill had heard gossip from the Black Rose people; Snow Cloud Peak had only managed to command the same group of people for over a decade by relying on them to influence more followers.

Of course, when he first stepped up to the commander’s platform, he was also scolded as a lousy commander to the extreme.

The Undead Tribe relied on dozens of Great Commanders at the level of Snow Cloud Peak, and while the results were usually correct, the middle chaos remained unchanged.

The relationships between commanders were not peaceful.

And the only one who could make the Undead so obedient was one person.

Hill stood up resignedly, his squatting figure here probably had already been spotted, right?

He walked slowly inside the camp and eventually found a clue next to a huge stone: it was a disguised house.

He walked around the stone and a door opened in front of him. Hill laughed helplessly and walked straight in.

The first thing Hill saw was William and Spencer.

Hill was slightly surprised; it was unexpected yet understandable that William would come, but Spencer?

”Hill, we meet again, as expected,” William said with a smile, leaning on the throne.

Hill looked around the colossal palace.

Although it appeared to be only a few meters tall from the outside, the interior was no smaller than William’s King’s Hall, and many of his King’s Guard had also come along.

”Your Majesty, although it is a bit unexpected, I can only wish that you’ll achieve what you desire,” Hill said sincerely.

William had the power to ignite the Divine Fire long ago but doing so would have meant he’d never be more powerful than the God of Time and Space.

It seems he was not willing to start as a Lesser God of the God of Time and Space.

With William’s personality, it was quite normal for him to come to this world.

Hill glanced at Spencer: ”But why would Spencer come along? The level of danger here surpasses every war in Teraxil.”

”That’s precisely why I came. My unwavering mission has always been to follow His Majesty the King,” Spencer’s tone was calm, yet Hill could sense the resolve of the Sky Knight in those ordinary words.

”Then I can only hope you become a Legendary Knight soon,” Hill could only offer his blessings and felt that this knight was close to reaching that threshold.

That steadfast will to protect indeed had propelled Spencer forward.

”Really, it’s no big deal,” William said nonchalantly, resting his chin on his hand and sitting with one leg crossed over the other, ”The Divine Artifact Palace provided by the World Tree, reinforced by Coron, is said to have higher defensive power than a planet when the God of Time and Space was expanding the space for me.

If something were to happen still, it would likely mean that this world has been directly shattered by some powerful being.

But such beings wouldn’t just appear, and neither the World Tree nor Coron would stand by and do nothing.

So honestly, it’s pretty safe.

You don’t need to worry so much, Hill.”

He turned to look at Hill: ”Instead of that, Hill, how about you help me plant some flowers?”

William took out a thick bag: ”Given to me by the Sun God, said to be able to cover an entire planet. I’ve already started getting the Undead to plant them. Once these sunflowers take root and sprout, this valley will truly be safe.

Don’t worry, unless I am certain of safety, I won’t leave.”

Hill nodded helplessly. To think that arriving in the Otherworld, he would have to start as a flower farmer.
