Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 540: Chapter 339: Gerns Full of Intrigue

William was also frightened, he almost jumped up.

Hill’s full terror turned into a helpless smile on the flustered William’s face.

It was a pity that this King of Saral hadn’t maintained his serious decorum for even ten minutes.

Spencer, who followed in, rushed forward, helping Commander Mason up, ”Commander Mason, this won’t do, our Majesty the King is not a deity, he cannot endure such grand courtesy.”

The Radiant Knight Corps looked at each other, seemingly not understanding why William reacted so strongly, but since they were here for help, they intended to avoid causing trouble.

The guests from the otherworld, seeing that their act of kneeling on one knee was so disliked, all the legendary knights stood up.

”You are legendary!” William finally found his voice, ”Even deities cannot make legendary who do not worship them kneel!

In Teraxil, even divine-gifted legendary only kneel on one knee during the most significant festivals when they devoutly pray to their deities!

Is this world mad?

These are legendary, those most closely tied to the world laws! Who can casually accept such kneeling?

If one fails to become a deity, isn’t that courting death?”

Hill understood why William was so frightened.

He was expecting the knights’ polite bowing, considering this world indeed needed Teraxil’s assistance.

But definitely not such an unwavering kneeling on one knee.

William had many thoughts about this world, but he absolutely did not want to be hated by its laws before even making a move.

Although they all could see that the Radiant Knight Corps were accustomed to saluting high-ranking individuals in such a manner.

This made them all feel very strange, what kind of beings are the kings of this world, daring to casually accept the kneeling of the legendary?

Unless they are the masters of laws, who can make the laws willingly bow? Do such kings in this world have any longevity?

Even a legendary king wouldn’t, but Hill felt that this world couldn’t have a legendary king.

If the royalty of this world were accustomed to the legendary kneeling from a young age, which world laws would accept them?

Moreover, have the legendary in this world never received any enlightenment from the laws? Even for a legendary knight, during promotion, there should be that feeling of having the whole world in their palm!

Generally, the legendary are excessively proud, rarely are they so obsequious.

If someone in Teraxil tried to make a legendary kneel on one knee casually, they would probably rebel directly, first killing the fool who made them kneel.

The legendary knights from the Radiant Knight Corps were stunned, they looked at each other for a long time before Commander Mason asked, ”What do you mean by the legendary being the ones most closely connected to the world laws? Your Majesty the King, can you tell us? We really know nothing.”

”How did you become legendary?” William finally calmed down and sat back on the throne, ”Even a knight must perceive the laws related to their attributes to advance to legendary.

If it’s a mage, they must see the law lines directly at the center of the world to fully advance! Isn’t there a legendary mage in your world?”

”No one has told us these things.” Mason’s eyes were wide open, ”The Radiant Knight Corps has only followed the tradition of training according to the Radiant Knight secret manual.

We were transformed from the Sun God Temple’s Paladin Legion, after the priests fell along with the deities, we could only wander outside searching for our way, only able to directly pray to the sun.

Though during the promotion, we indeed saw golden warm radiance.

But we always thought that the emergence of many legendary knights was the final grace of the Sun God.

The long-standing tradition in Gerns made us know from a young age that the king is supreme, no matter who it is, they must show enough respect when seeing the king.

Not just us, even legendary mages must deeply bow to show respect when meeting the king.”

William couldn’t help but glance at Hill, fortunately, this child didn’t go out on his own, otherwise, he would surely cause a big trouble.

Hill, leaning over the railing, loudly asked, ”Is there any king in your world who has lived over a hundred years? Has there never been a king who became legendary?”

The little mark of the Sun God on Hill told him that these knights were indeed from the Order of Light, even the mark of Silvermoon had a liking for them.

All his instincts told Hill that these legendary knights had no issues, yet, when he first saw them, he didn’t have this feeling.

He pondered repeatedly what might have been different before these knights entered the royal palace but eventually let out a secret sigh of relief.

It seemed that the world will of Gerns, at least the one slumbering beneath their feet, really had no issues.

Thankfully, this time stepping out wasn’t a wrong decision.

Hill gently tucked a few stray hairs behind his ear and smiled lightly downstairs.

If there were a significant issue here, how could Old Ancestor not give a heads-up? Probably just a bit dangerous but manageable for Hill, so Haiweirsen said nothing.

The trial of the Earth Bear was never that easy.

William glanced at Hill, knowing well how sensitive this nature warlock was to the aura. Even if something could deceive him, it couldn’t fool Hill.

At least the illusions that could entrap William wouldn’t even flicker before Hill.

He bore nearly complete blessings from Silvermoon, the Sun, Earth, and Nature, so no matter where he went, he wouldn’t be misled by falsehoods.

If Hill could nonchalantly engage with these Radiant Knights, it meant that he could relax a bit regarding the Gerns world.

At least, the undead entering this world wasn’t the doing of the World Tree and that Father of Elves against the Gods of Time and Space.

That allowed William to ease up slightly.

His firm decision to come out this time sprung from a necessity, as the requests of two strong wielders of divine power couldn’t be rejected. But William truly feared that the divine artifact summoning the undead might malfunction.

This artifact could almost be considered an extension of the God of Time and Space himself; it concentrated the powers of both space and time, and if it were truly destroyed, those two could walk away with an apology, but the God of Time and Space would be half-dead.

William thought these benevolent deities probably wouldn’t act so sinisterly, but if there was even the slightest possibility, he wouldn’t allow this artifact to fall into others’ hands.

Even touching it would be unacceptable.

Spencer didn’t understand why the God of Time and Space was so angry, thinking it was just because William had to take risks. But the real displeasure of the God of Time and Space was due to William risking himself on his behalf.

A born saint, a pity I am not.

William thought indifferently, if anything happened to him, it would just be random transmission to another place, a gamble of luck, and at most, the God of Time and Space would grab his soul back. But if the God of Time and Space were finished, the whole God of Time and Space system wouldn’t survive.

If the World Tree struck against the Gods of Time and Space, Teraxil’s three born deities might not even help them.

He had prepared for the worst, but apparently, things hadn’t reached such extremities.

If the intention was merely to utilize the undead, William didn’t believe that the ones he brought could be outnumbered by demons.

Even devils would lose against these creatures who knew no fear.

The undead indeed were ready to do anything for profit, but their souls had nothing to do with the fantasy world.

The world where the undead resided, with no laws, dared let the God of Time and Space project their souls out, fearing no demonic contracts.

The God of Time and Space gained permission because he was a paragon of merit, even shining like a saint in the law-free world.

Other deities and devils arriving there would just dissipate, their soul power insufficient even as fertilizer.

William smiled and pointed at Hill, leaning on the second floor, ”This is our world’s legendary mage, Hill Polanio. Just call him Hill. He has a great relationship with our world’s Sun God; otherwise, he wouldn’t have come out to speak with you.

Legendary mages generally dislike mingling with outsiders.”

Then he lightly waved his hand, ”Come down at once, Hill! What is this in front of guests?”

”Good day. I am Hill, apologies for my slight rudeness.” Hill nodded with a smile and floated down from the second floor, landing beside William’s throne.

He embarrassedly smiled at the legendary knights below, ”I am still young, just came out to see the outside world. I didn’t mean to involve in serious matters, but your statements seemed too incredible to me.”

Knight Mason showed a slight bitter smile, ”Good day, Master Hill. I am a bit bewildered too. The kings of our world are born from the divine lineage, eternally supreme, indeed returning to the Divine Kingdom early on.

Not just us knights, even the noble mages must bow low in greeting. Standing beside a king like you would mean a direct death.”

Hill blinked, ”A legendary mage, being killed by a king?

A legendary mage! The immortal royalty, giving face to the deities, doesn’t mean it’s unachievable.”

”It’s by the deities’ hand. Gerns world has four countries: Kingdom of the Black Moon, Red Moon Kingdom, War God Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom.

Each king is a direct descendant of deities, if one offends them, divine punishment will befall.”

”Magic Kingdom? Do you even have a God of Magic here?” Hill couldn’t help but chuckle, ”There probably aren’t many legendary mages, right?”

”Many.” Mason answered solemnly, ”In the Magic Kingdom, legendary mages are everywhere, but they aren’t as strong as you. Though it might not be humble, the Radiant Knight Corps members can directly oppose the legendary mages of the Magic Kingdom.

However, against you, Master Hill, we would have no chance.”

Hill tilted his head, ”What about the elves of this world?” This familiar style surprised him a bit.

”Elves? They are in the Dense Green Forest, completely isolated from the world, not appearing for thousands of years.” Mason did not understand why Hill suddenly asked about elves.

But William understood very well, the counterfeit products had been mentioned to him many times by Adrian.
