Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 503: Chapter 302 Hill’s Sincere Blessing Will Definitely Work

Although the three mother bears lay back in their places, they still paid close attention to the new bear cub.

Hill staring at the mithril plate seemed to have been misunderstood by Grace. She quickly got up again and walked into a large cave behind the main house.

It seemed to be a naturally formed cave, the entrance shone with a dull golden light.

Grace soon returned carrying a leather bag in her mouth.

”Hill liked this material! Aurelio did mention it’s quite rare outside, and said to collect some to sell next time we go out.

But most of the big pieces were made into these protective plates by the clan leader; these are just scraps for you to play with. Next time when the clan rests, I’ll have them gather more bigger pieces.”

The cave is a storage, and everyone has thrown too much junk inside; you can’t go in there yet. If you need more, remember to call me to fetch it.” Grace dropped the leather bag in front of Hill, ”Even Aurelio can’t go in there. If you aren’t a demigod, the chaos inside will hurt the little bear’s mental sea.”

Hill picked up the bag, and indeed it was full of mithril.

Although the Earth Bears thought these were too small to be useful, Hill, looking at a mineral chunk about half the size of his fist, didn’t find it small at all.

”Thank you, Grace, I can use this,” Hill sincerely thanked her, ”But dangerous places, Grace, you better not go. What if it harms the fetus?”

Grace laughed heartily, ”Nothing can get through an Earth Bear’s hide! Don’t worry about me. If you need anything, be sure to call us!” She gently patted Hill’s head with her giant bear paw and turned back.

Hill could feel that he was being cared for.

But he felt a bit uneasy being treated like a fragile little cub, as that was far from his reality.

Ever since he was born into this world, Hill had lived cautiously, shedding much of his pampered naivety from his previous life.

Many people fantasized about the intense internal strife in large enterprises, and indeed there was a lot. But if you wanted a technical position and had a bit of background, life was very smooth.

In those days, Hill was basically a black hole in conflicts and lived happily! The loneliness and hardship at the construction site didn’t really matter, as he was walking the path of his childhood dreams.

To be honest, his greatest pain was during the days of exam preparation, with no need to consider social relationships.

Arriving in this world, his once dull mind had to start churning again, and even though he still had many flaws, he had already exerted all his effort.

He had lived for thirty years in his previous life, and hadn’t been as scheming as he had been in just ten years of this life.

Suddenly returning to days of genuine care, Hill felt strange.

He shook his head and shifted his thoughts back to the Earth Bears’ storage.

A Legendary Mage here couldn’t even enter a storage because it was too dangerous.

Hill suspected these bears hadn’t just killed elves and dwarves; probably quite a few demons had met their end under their claws too.

If demons truly wanted to invade this world, they wouldn’t have ignored the wilderness teeming with secrets.

Any demons getting this deep would have to be above Legendary level.

Hill glanced several times at the storage nearby. The Earth Bears could use metal system powers, and many metals had isolation abilities. Coupled with thick layers of mithril, these bears likely threw all their loot inside.

Hill shook his head and entered the snail house.

The small house was still empty, with only a floor-to-ceiling window on the back wall. The window slanted upwards all the way to the top of the snail shell.

Hill found that the window Fran made used his special metal wire. The wire-drawn crystal window sparkled in the sunlight, looking thin, but it wouldn’t be easier to break than the walls.

The Alchemy Golem had left some mithril plates open here, and several ropes woven from mithril wire hung in mid-air. When needed, a pull could lower the outside mithril plate.

Hill thought about the clan leader of the Earth Bears while pondering the room’s layout. When he stayed alone on the outskirts of the wilderness, maybe he planned to learn some crafting methods from the elves and dwarves.

The crafting of this mithril plate, although crude, definitely had a dwarven touch.

Walking around the house, Hill figured he could convert it to a small two-story house, though the space at the top of the snail shell wasn’t large. By his calculations, the second floor would only be fifty square meters, suitable for a bedroom.

In the 300-plus square meters downstairs, Hill left two hundred square meters for a living room and made a fifty-square-meter kitchen and a fifty-square-meter bathroom.

Then he expanded the kitchen using a space crystal. Fran had left many places that could be directly modified by adding crystals.

But he hadn’t expanded the entire snail house, likely considering that the kind of people needing such a house might have to entertain ordinary guests.

Hill didn’t expect many guests himself, but just in case some little bears came to play after being born, the space would be enough.

He wasn’t in a rush to expand the whole house; apart from adding a ten-square-meter storage room to the living room, he let everything else follow its own course.

Hill straightforwardly planned to set up the living room as a workshop and study, separating the two areas with bookshelves.

Then he buried himself in drawing isolation arrays and elemental purification arrays in the house.

If he wanted to continue using alchemy, he had to isolate most of the violent elemental reactions outside.

The ones that did come in had to be purified before use.

Hill now understood why Earth Bears consumed so many elemental crystals.

No matter how abundant the elements here were, they couldn’t be used directly.

The Earth Bears’ bodies had no trouble withstanding these elemental storms, but even they didn’t want to absorb such violent elements.

Hill picked up a materials box and headed to Grace’s house.

”Hill?” Grace, sprawling on the ground, moved her eyes and waved a front paw, ”What’s the matter?”

”I have a purification array that can make the elements a bit gentler. Should I prepare one for the little bear’s room?” Hill asked with a smile.

”Of course!” Grace sat up energetically, ”If you can, it would be best if each house had a room with this array. Even though we’re used to the skin-stripping winds, we sometimes want to sleep without any burden.”

Hill nodded with a smile and entered Grace’s house, ”Which room would you like to modify, Grace?”

Hill also understood that once Earth Bears were born, they had to adapt to this environment and couldn’t hide in safe rooms forever, so they couldn’t seal the whole house like Hill did.

After modifying Grace’s room, he helped Sharlene and Ula as well, ending Hill’s day.

Returning to his house, he found the Life Golem had already tidied it up.

Hill didn’t even need to instruct it; this puppet with a bit of intelligence arranged the room to perfectly suit Hill’s preferences.

Hill had endured for a long time but first had to get the important work done.

Fortunately, the night arrived as scheduled. He quickly dashed into the bathroom for a comfortable soak in a hot bath.

The isolation array worked perfectly. Hill had a good sleep on the second floor, and if not for another loud noise from the sky, he might have slept even longer.

One sound no one in this world wanted to hear was a loud noise from the sky.

If the deities, shining down, fought a god war for no apparent reason, the mortals in the lower realm suffered the most.

But this time, when he heard the Elven God King desperately pleading with the God of Time and Space, Hill was so happy he rolled around on the bed, thrilled!

Even if he were sent to the wilderness to suffer, Hill would accept it willingly!

Clearly, when the incident first occurred, the cold-hearted Elven God King handed Princess Druciya over to William to deal with as he pleased. Now he was begging like a beast about to lose its mate.

The God of Time and Space stayed silent for a long time before asking, ”Elven God King, did a dog gnaw off your head? Or did the water Agleya dumped into your divine kingdom flow straight to your brain?

What’s gotten into you?”

”Westaria!” A male voice called out, ”You’ve been poisoned! Hurry back to the divine kingdom! You have the antidote, don’t embarrass yourself!”

”Nonsense, I truly love Druciya!” The Elven God King shouted, ”Liaton! You’re insulting my love!”

”Bullshit!” Liaton cursed, ”What love? Didn’t you just praise the Elf Queen’s beauty yesterday? Go back and take the antidote. If you still think you love that fool after that, I’ll help you out this time!”

Hill guessed this was the son of the God of Archery, whose uncle was the God of Travel with a connection to Rose.

Though his status wasn’t as high as the Elven God King, with two deities backing him, he wouldn’t fear the Elven God King.

When dealing with his own kind, Coron was still reasonable.

Other elf deities, even if they sensed something was off with the Elven God King, likely wouldn’t dare speak up.

”How could I be poisoned? I’m an elf deity!” The Elven God King still struggled, but he seemed to have some rationality left, as he listened to Liaton’s words.

”Don’t you know what you’ve done?” Liaton said bluntly, ”If I weren’t worried you’d find out a few days later after taking the antidote and cause chaos, I wouldn’t care about your face.

Recording everything and sending it back to Alberia for everyone’s amusement is what I’d do!

Quickly take the antidote! If you provoke Coron again over this, I’ll definitely cut ties with you!”

The Elven God King reluctantly returned to the divine kingdom to take the antidote. The name Coron still held much sway with him.

”This space rift is awfully precise!” Liaton said, sighing, ”Even if Westaria brought it on himself, can we end this issue now? I think he won’t do anything in the short term.”
