Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 542: Chapter 341: It is indeed a counterfeit Weave

Hill knew that there was nothing more to ask from the Radiant Knights Order, so he bade farewell to William and planned to go back and study the Magic Book.

William probably already confirmed that these Radiant Knights, while quite powerful, only had a superficial understanding of many things in this world.

But it was enough for him to get a preliminary understanding of this strange world.

So he had invited these knights to sit down, even offering them plenty of wine and snacks, happily engaging them in conversation, or rather, extracting information.

Although a bit interested, Hill preferred to go back and look at the Magic Book instead of these things.

He thought he could ask Spencer about these matters later.

As Hill walked out the gates of the Royal Palace, Yunfeng smiled and intercepted him, ”Mr. Hill, can you enlighten our poor, ignorant, and bewildered Undead Tribe friends?

We saw everything from beginning to end, but we didn’t understand a thing!”

”In exchange, can you tell me the legends you have about demons and devils?” Hill asked quietly, ”I need to understand these two races better before I can see things more clearly.

Right now, I only know a little about many things, and I can’t just say anything randomly.”

Yunfeng scratched his head and, using the Transcription Technique on his tablet, copied a few pages, ”These are the only things we can write down. Many things related to them, we knew before but couldn’t write down or even speak out.

William said that the World Will didn’t allow us to discuss these races in his domain, as it would draw the attention of stronger demons or devils to Teraxil.

But in this new world, there’s no issue, and he hasn’t reacted at all.”

Hill solemnly took the papers, ”That only means this world has long been under the watchful eyes of the Abyss and Hell. It can’t be hidden.

I will study it carefully and give you the results tomorrow morning.

You can bring people over or use your livestream.”

Yunfeng cheerfully nodded, ”That would be great! I’ll just go check out what’s happening outside! I wonder what the devils are up to this time! Only so few demons, and it’s still going!”

”It’s not mischief! There’re more succubi.” A voice chimed in, and a mage with the name ’Junqi’ walked over lethargically, ”Two succubi, far more enchanting and beautiful than the one I saw in Saral!

Those fools’ legs went weak.

They didn’t even care about provoking the healers; they avoided the Blizzard in that area, standing far enough away that Holy Rain couldn’t touch them.

I think they wanted to die, so they ran directly towards them.

But before I left, I saw the Old Age Striking King and Gu Weiwei were writing down names in a row, their short legs unnoticed by the fools.

In future trench warfare, they’ll know what it’s like to ignore healers.”

”You actually held back? No issues with your orientation, right?” Yunfeng stomped a couple of times on the ground uneasily, glancing at Hill, who was smiling at them, and quickly changed his tone, ”But still, it’s best not to provoke the priests! Isn’t Rainfall around? I’ll go tell him.”

Hill almost burst into laughter. He didn’t intend to stay and torment Yunfeng’s nerves, so he happily turned and left.

He hadn’t even circled to the rear of the Royal Palace when he saw Old Snow Dog anxiously rushing towards the city wall.

The mage named ’Junqi’ stood there in a daze, staring at his rapidly disappearing back.

After the brief interlude that made people smile knowingly, Hill began to bury himself in studying the Magic Book.

The descriptions of the 0-level, 1-level, and 2-level spells instantly brought back old memories.

Hill couldn’t help communicating with the Laws he had mastered, and the response was quick and swift.

It was a broken Weave with not much control power.

Although it existed throughout the world, it was fragile.

Moreover, the number of spells that mages could use daily was reduced.

0-level spells could be used freely; newly-promoted mages still had 4 magic slots for 1-level spells, but only 2 from 2nd level onward.

Yes, two per level.

Even without examining it closely, Hill could estimate that this world’s Weave couldn’t accommodate mages above level 20.

If there were such powerful mages, Coron and the World Tree wouldn’t struggle.

If there were numerous pseudo-Legendary mages at level 14 in the Weave world, Hill could easily take on ten.

As a mage from the Elemental World, comparing horizontally, Hill estimated himself to be equivalent to a 9-level mage, or an 18-level mage from there. But he wasn’t sure about their Legendaries.

Though Hill had thought about traveling to that world, the Weave was somewhat terrifying to him.

He didn’t believe his power could resist the Goddess of Magic; he might have to conform to local customs.

Hill looked at the Magic Book, regretfully giving it up.

He had no intention of recording the spells devised by devils.

Mages in this world could reach up to 10-level and still hadn’t noticed the Weave’s fragility, which meant those spells were probably tainted.

Hill gently picked up the papers Yunfeng had given; indeed, there was no detailed introduction to the Abyss and Hell, but the nature of demons and devils was described.

The two major factions of chaotic evil and lawful evil: chaotic demons’ most vital part was their hearts, while lawful devils valued their brains. Demons took pleasure in the destruction of beauty, whereas devils preferred the corruption of beauty.

So worlds invaded by demons usually experienced the strongest resistance; after all, no matter if you surrendered subserviently or not, the outcome was the same.

As for devils, like in Gerns, the world faced a slow death.

If the demons hadn’t smelled the devils and invaded, bringing the world to the brink of collapse, the World Tree might not have known what was happening.

Hill only needed this common knowledge; he didn’t want William to someday notice his differences.

Currently, he was not so worried about William discovering his origins; he had some trust in William now. Given his character, killing him was unlikely.

But Hill believed that if William knew his identity, his attitude would shift from respectful friendliness to conscripting him aggressively.

This was a minor concern.

Hill’s biggest worry was that Haiweirsen and Fran would no longer see him as family if they learned half of his soul was from elsewhere.

He had just acknowledged himself as a member of the Earth Bear and didn’t want to become a homeless wandering bear.

If one day it came to that, Hill, who had just found a sense of belonging in this Fantasy World, didn’t know how he would change.

Perhaps with Agleya and Alice’s companionship, he might recover, but heartache and sorrow would be inevitable.

His mentality might even turn extreme.

Hill thought he could cherish his memories of his original world in his heart and help William within his capacity but never at the cost of sacrificing himself.

A little caution would be beneficial for everyone.

Hill had already decided unless his parents from that world suddenly appeared before him, he would hide his true nature to the end.

Hill wrote a concise summary, then stood up and gazed at the sky outside.

The sky was starting to lighten with a hint of sunshine peeking over the horizon. The blizzard outside the city walls had ceased, leaving only faint traces of Holy Rain, indicating the Undead Tribe had finished their battle.

Hill solemnly washed up, changed into a properly fitting Mage Robe, combed his long hair neatly, and checked himself in the mirror.

The Undead Tribe would record everything; Hill definitely didn’t want any more embarrassing images circulating.

Sometimes, he wondered how he managed to get photographed with so many odd expressions.

In this world, there wasn’t an Old Cat who loved to watch the fun and share new photos with him, so Hill needed to be more cautious.

After tidying up, Hill walked from his Mushroom House to the shop, leaving the door wide open, waiting for the Undead Tribe to come over.

Hill had originally prepared this place to collect items only, so the shop was very spacious, with only a long desk and sofa at the innermost area, along with a few puppets.

Seeing a group of people approaching from afar, Hill smiled helplessly, knowing that someone as sociable as Yunfeng wouldn’t come alone.

Fortunately, he had opened the shop; it was the most suitable place. Unfortunately, the ’Perfect Bald’ would be disappointed that he didn’t get the jump.

Yunfeng brought his allies, most of whom Hill had seen before.

They were also well acquainted with Hill, greeting him before they found chairs and sat down in a satisfactory spot in the spacious room.

”First of all, you should know what devils are by now, right?” Hill asked quietly, seeing the nodding Undead Tribe, ”Devils are extremely adept at disguise, even hiding within divine beings’ bodies.

The God of Magic in this world should be an avatar of a Demon Lord.”

”An avatar?” Yunfeng asked in surprise, ”As powerful as that, and it’s just an avatar?”

”Demon Lords aren’t interested in such a small world. For them, Gerns is just a testing ground. The strength of a Demon Lord varies, but the powerful ones aren’t much weaker than the former Coron.

Moreover, in this world, there are at least four Demon Lords and evil gods combined.”

”Not a single good one?” ’Perfect Bald’ asked in shock, ”How did this world survive?”

”The former Sun God and the entity in Silvermoon probably struggled for a long time but ultimately failed. The Sun God completely fell, and the one in Silvermoon is severely wounded; if you observe closely at night, there’s a massive crack on the silver moon in the ring of moonlight.

And since the demons invaded, the devils’ attention was diverted.”

Seeing the surprised looks from the Undead Tribe, Hill smiled helplessly, ”Demons are the real adversaries the devils care about.

Humans are just playthings to them.
