Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 501: Chapter 300: Welcome Home, Little Hill

Hill was having a hard time walking.

In this place, he couldn’t fly and could only move forward step by step on foot.

He couldn’t move underground either.

Hill had tried, but although he was welcomed, the soil here wouldn’t open a path for him.

Or rather, the land here wasn’t purely governed by the Law of the Earth.

Hill couldn’t help but collect some soil. It was his first time feeling what it was like for soil to be filled with various elements.

Every piece of soil he took was extremely hard and completely different from one another.

Hill, whose strength could easily crush obsidian, took more than an hour just to dig up a few pieces of soil.

Hill had no choice but to walk tenaciously on the ground. The cloak made from the semi-divine artifact Crystal Flower seemed to barely withstand the relentless icy winds, let alone other clothes.

The Legendary Robe was of no use at all, instantly turning into shreds.

No wonder human footsteps had never entered the depths of the wilderness, and even the demigods of Elves and Dwarves couldn’t reach this far.

If he didn’t have a semi-divine artifact, Hill would really have to consider if he should transform into a bear.

Hill turned that cloak into a sleeveless Greek tunic, trudging through the Elemental Tides.

His exposed arms and legs were covered in scars, even his feet couldn’t avoid them.

He didn’t even dare to walk fast.

Not long after coming ashore, he had sprinted, almost losing his life.

The result of moving too fast was crashing headfirst into a tornado-like Elemental Storm that had erupted suddenly.

Although he had fully exerted himself to escape, he had still broken a few ribs. Hill had to hide in an underground cave.

He tried using healing spells and discovered why the wilderness was deemed the mage’s doom, as the laws here couldn’t be easily communicated with. In the end, he had to use nearly three times the mana to cast the simplest healing spell on himself.

His ribs healed quickly, but it immediately triggered a small storm.

Hill hurriedly rolled away.

He carefully checked his supply reserve. Luckily, the legends of the wilderness were always terrifying, and he had considered the potential disaster of spells not working, bringing enough healing potions.

Getting injured again meant drinking potions!

If the injury was too severe, and he couldn’t run off before the Elemental Storms kicked up, he might truly end up a dead bear.

Hill walked forward silently. Fortunately, Agleya knew where he wanted to go and gave up trying to contact him after knowing he was in the wilderness.

Hill really didn’t have the willpower to chat with anyone now, finding a path he could walk for half an hour was hard enough. He constantly needed to change direction.

His wounds healed and then broke, broke, and then healed. Hill could feel his skin becoming tougher.

Including his bones, which seemed to harden a lot in the relentless Elemental Storms.

On the day he felt the pull of his bloodline, Hill was sadly looking at his clothes.

There was actually a tear! He had never known that even clothes made from a semi-divine artifact could fray.

If he didn’t find where the Earth Bear was soon, his semi-divine artifact might fall apart before even fulfilling its purpose.

Just as he was about to speed up toward the direction, he was slammed by an Elemental Storm.

Struggling out, Hill took a short rest underground.

Fortunately, he only broke one bone this time.

Maybe his body had indeed become a bit tougher in the Elemental Storms.

Even though he was near the end, Hill didn’t dare to speed up or run home happily. He carefully walked step by step.

Although he couldn’t travel underground, the earth still took care of its child. Hill could easily find pits or similar places to temporarily hide.

Hill lay in a pit, struggling to take out some food from his pendant, devouring it ravenously. In the depths of the wilderness, he actually felt hungry!

Probably because his body was consuming too much? Hill’s Legendary body needed to eat at least once every three days.

He hadn’t felt such urgent bodily needs for a long time. After elementalizing, the external elements had supplemented all his body’s needs.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh. Dwarves might carry some food, but Elves definitely wouldn’t.

They were used to finding food in nature, and if they were Druids, they could even grow plants anytime.

Unfortunately, in this cursed place, growing a plant would consume more energy than eating an entire tree’s worth of fruit.

No wonder so many demigods died. Even an Elf Deity might fall, though not that Elven God King. That guy always had a way to escape.

Coron was truly worthy of owning the divinities of Literature and Craft. He had so many good things.

As Hill lay on the ground gulping down a healing potion, a large bear head popped in: ”Hill! You actually fell into the wilderness!”

Aurelio looked at him with wide eyes full of curiosity: ”I just got home and felt your presence. I left so many days before you! Is that portal really that useful?”

Hill patted his tunic, ”It’s a random portal. It all depends on where fate wants to send you.”

Aurelio patted the ground with his bear paw, ”It’s perfect for us! Luck always accompanies a bear’s claw.”

Hill let out a cold laugh, ”Do you want me to see if I can get one?”

”The clan leader won’t let us use the Elves’ divine artifacts,” Aurelio said regretfully, ”And it’s not very practical for you. If you fall into the elemental turbulence, it’s too dangerous.”

Hill nodded disinterestedly. Then he wouldn’t need to consider it any further. They could discuss it later.

The Elven God King wouldn’t know what kind of blessing Hill had made. If things went wrong, it would just be bad luck.

”Let’s go, I’ll take you home,” Aurelio said cheerfully, ”Just in time, I’m about to advance. I was wondering what to do with the cubs after they were born!”

”Aren’t their mothers staying?” Hill asked in surprise, following Aurelio.

He finally understood why Aurelio’s speed was so fast. The Earth Bear directly swiped, shattering all the turbulent flows in front of him, allowing him to walk in a straight line.

Hill followed him with envy and walked toward the mountain range ahead.

In this wilderness filled with Elemental Storms, the existence of mountains was certainly not ordinary.

The fact that it wasn’t blown apart by such terrifying winds indicated its true nature. The golden glow shimmering from the entire mountain told Hill its identity — the Mithril Range was hard enough.

”Why keep them?” Aurelio said bluntly, ”Feeding the cubs milk for a month is enough. Then they can eat meat paste made by puppets. Earth Bears have always been very lax with their children.”

Hill was silent for a few seconds. They probably didn’t care at all! After all, the defense ability of a newborn bear cub was probably about as strong as Hill when he first entered the Legendary rank.

When they grew up, they would become Legendary, able to visit the World’s End like Aurelio. Although they couldn’t stay long, they could still go and see.

Hill couldn’t help but think of the clan leader. Even though mother bears weren’t always with their cubs, he had accompanied his Elf daughter on the edge of the wilderness for many years out of genuine love.

Unfortunately, Virginia was a typical Moon Elf, heartless, and her mind was only filled with thoughts of her own love.

Aurelio led Hill straight into the Mithril Mountain.

No matter how fierce the elemental turbulence was, it couldn’t easily erode a mountain built with the full divine power of the Goddess of the Earth.

Having perfected the Law of the Earth, Hill easily walked in.

The mountain range wasn’t wide; Hill felt he had walked a few kilometers to the other side.

He looked up in surprise at the fresh and serene little camp, surrounded by towering cedar forests, within the circular mountain range.

The few alchemy huts Hill had given Aurelio were scattered around the perimeter of the camp. Three Earth Bears, bigger than Aurelio, lay leaning against the largest huts.

They were expectant mother bears, their bellies already very swollen.

A dozen alchemy golems were busy transporting food to them from a several-story-high large house in the middle.

”We’re home!” Aurelio said happily, standing on his hind legs to greet the mother bears in the camp with a roar.

But not one bear responded to him.

”Hill is also here!” Aurelio shouted angrily.

The three bears immediately turned around and climbed up effortlessly despite their bulk.

Being pregnant, a demigod naturally wouldn’t lose their mobility.

Aurelio led the silently laughing Hill forward, muttering, ”I’m about to officially come of age! They used to be very nice to me, always checking on me and running back from the cedar forest to ensure I was safe. But now that I’m about to become a demigod, they no longer see me as their cute child. In just a few years, their attitude has changed so much!

Forget it, let you little cub bear all this overwhelming motherly love!”

Hill remembered from his inherited memory that reaching the Legendary rank was considered adulthood for Earth Bears.

Maybe it was like humans that, although sixteen years old was considered adulthood, many elders didn’t think this age was mature enough to be independent.

Families that loved their children would let them officially become independent after twenty years old. Even if they were separated at sixteen, they would let the child live until twenty before going out to survive.

Even noble families were the same. After all, very few noble children could become knights at sixteen; it usually took until around twenty.

Even joining the army required becoming a professional first. Otherwise, if you couldn’t become an officer, what was the point of enlisting?

It was better to live well with the family’s inheritance.

Hill, who was kicked out directly at sixteen, was the result of the entire Pelast Family not valuing him. So, even if the current Count Pelast wanted Hill’s support, he wouldn’t dare approach him directly, and this was the reason.

A huge mother bear had already rushed in front of Hill, swatting Aurelio aside with one paw and gently lifting Hill with her two paws: ”Great! You really made it to the wilderness. Welcome home! Dear little Hill.”
