Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1046: Chapter 607

Everyone says, Jiang Yuzhen is a good actress.

But there always seems to be a thin barrier between a good actress and those truly outstanding ones.

We are always moved by the performance of a good actress, but after being moved, we forget about her, forget about her performance.

Yet sometimes, a single shot is talked about for many years.

So, people often say that acting is about fate. Those who have it can convey a lifetime with just a look or a glance. Those who don’t, spend a lifetime honing their skills, becoming seasoned actors through hard work, yet remain forgotten, and little remembered.

Jiang Yuzhen has always been self-aware.

She doesn’t consider herself the kind of actress who can make an audience instantly fall for her; otherwise, she would have been famous long ago, not waiting for now.

However, working with Kang Xin on a film, he always sets higher standards.

Jiang Yuzhen also understands why Kang Xin has such high standards.

In reality, Zhou Yun is that kind of naturally gifted performer, with many moments captured on screen that even she doesn’t know how she delivered.

And in the drama ”Chen Yin,” the mother-son relationship plays a very important role.

Kang Xin wants to delve deeper into this mother-son relationship to unearth more layers of richness. Often, if the actor’s ability falls short, the director, no matter how much they guide, is powerless, but these two actors, Zhou Yun and Jiang Yuzhen, have the capability to explore deeper dimensions.

In the first scene, Kang Xin entrusted the pivotal role to Jiang Yuzhen.

When Jiang Yuzhen appeared on stage again, there was a subtle change in her aura.

According to the original design, she should appear as irritable, angry, with deep wrinkles etched by life’s hardships.

But now, as she emerged, there was suddenly a hint of elegance, almost as if she was... still retaining some charm.

She was still that irritable and angry person, but not entirely.

To come directly is to come directly.

The crew on set was already prepared.

Zhou Yun was already lying in bed.

Kang Xin called for action.

Zhou Yun lay in bed, hearing the rustling sounds from outside.

Jiang Yuzhen had indeed returned.

Sure enough, the next second, the door opened, and Jiang Yuzhen came in.

The two were not in the same room, but the cameras rolled simultaneously.

If it were another director, they might split this scene into two segments to shoot, one for Jiang Yuzhen entering the door, and another for Jiang Yuzhen entering the room to find Zhou Yun.

But Kang Xin preferred to keep it as real as possible.

True means that every detail in the actor’s response is precise, not reliant purely on acting.

For instance, when Zhou Yun heard the sound of the door lock turning from outside, she instinctively moved her eyes and glanced at the doorway.

That was a reaction.

A person, unless they’re a robot, can’t rely purely on acting; there will always be flaws.

Kang Xin appreciates these most instinctive reactions.

Like when Zhou Yun glanced at the doorway, her expressionless, weak-looking face instinctively revealed a touch of unfamiliarity and indifference, perhaps with a hint of disdain.

Behind the monitor, Kang Xin watched Zhou Yun through the lens. At this point, two cameras were filming Zhou Yun, one capturing the full scene, one focusing on close-ups.

Zhou Yun’s expressions were captured.

None of it was missed.

That’s a director’s skill, a director who can capture such nuances often uncovers the most essential aspects of an actor.

Just like how Zhang Yimou used to spend three to five hours filming Zhou Dongyu in ”Love under the Hawthorn Tree,” only to use those brief ten seconds.

If captured, the actor seems gifted; if not, the actor is just a block of wood.

This is the importance of a director to an actor.

Jiang Yuzhen walked in.

She didn’t knock on the door.

”Are you feeling better?” Jiang Yuzhen leaned against the door frame and asked.

Zhou Yun mumbled a vague yes.

Jiang Yuzhen said, ”Since you’re feeling better, get up and eat. I bought you some porridge.”

Zhou Yun slightly furrowed her brows.

”Did you go play cards all night again?”

Jiang Yuzhen nodded slightly.

Zhou Yun took a deep breath, struggling to sit up from the bed.

She rubbed her own shoulder.

Suddenly, Jiang Yuzhen noticed a red mark on Zhou Yun’s neck.

Her expression immediately changed.

She rushed toward Zhou Yun like a fierce tiger, grabbed Zhou Yun by the collar.
