Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1016: Chapter 596: New York Afternoon 3

Zhou Lan said, ”There’s no need for us to keep an eye on her anymore. Whatever she does can’t possibly affect your Sister Xiao Yun.”

”Really?” Zheng Xiaojue said, ”But Xu Siyao has done so many outrageous things before, and sometimes I can’t help but wonder what she’s up to lately, curious whether she’s having a hard time — if she is, I’d be quite pleased.”

Zhou Lan and Zhou Yun were a bit surprised.

Neither of them had expected Zheng Xiaojue to have such thoughts.

Zheng Xiaojue showed an embarrassed expression and asked, ”Is it bad for me to think this way?”

”Not exactly.” Zhou Lan immediately shook her head to deny, ”It’s just that I might have been negligent.”

”Negligent?” Zheng Xiaojue looked at Zhou Lan with some surprise.

Zhou Lan said, ”I’ve already stopped considering Xu Siyao as someone significant. Whatever she does, I don’t care, because she’s no longer a rival to Xiao Yun. She simply doesn’t qualify as Xiao Yun’s competitor anymore.”

”That’s what you say...” Zheng Xiaojue hesitated, stammering.

”But what she does has nothing to do with whether she qualifies as Xiao Yun’s rival, right?” Zhou Lan said, ”I just realized this point suddenly — even if she never hopes to surpass Xiao Yun in this lifetime, that doesn’t stop her from seeing Xiao Yun as a thorn in her side, always watching closely.”

Zheng Xiaojue nodded with a smile.

”Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m thinking. But what I think more is that someone like Xu Siyao needs to take a hard fall to relieve the anger. Previously, she became famous riding on Sister Xiao Yun’s coattails, but instead of being grateful, she repeatedly went against Sister Xiao Yun. I don’t like seeing good things happen to her, so when she has a new show airing, I can’t help but watch, hoping the show is terrible and no one likes it.”

”Xiaoju’s thinking is quite normal. I often have such thoughts myself,” Zhou Lan said, ”But I don’t know when such thoughts will come true, so many times I choose not to think about it to avoid adding more annoyance. Besides, for an actress like Xu Siyao, who’s reached this point, wishing for her to fail completely and not be able to act anymore is quite unrealistic. Even if we dislike her, we must admit she’s now a popular, well-known actress with fans, so these factors make it highly unlikely she’ll have no roles.”

”True, there are always films like ’Half City Rain’ seeking her out to act,” Zheng Xiaojue added.

Zhou Yun hadn’t expected Zhou Lan and Zheng Xiaojue to dislike Xu Siyao so much.

She thought it was only her.

Zhou Yun said, ”Maybe everyone encounters one or two people like Xu Siyao in their work. It’s not uncommon; it’s just that I happened to meet Xu Siyao.”

Zhou Lan said, ”Well, that’s true. If you met Xu Siyao, then I met Yuh Jiangxing.”

”Yuh Jiangxing?” Zhou Yun was surprised upon hearing the name, ”Isn’t Yuh Jiangxing He Yong’s cousin? Has he been bothering you too?”

”More than bothering; it’s outright annoying.” Zhou Lan said, ”He’s like a persistent clingy sticker, following everything I do. Whoever I meet, he’s watching, and any business I approach, he won’t miss out.”

”It sounds like he’s outright stealing resources from you,” Zhou Yun said, ”But what’s the point? He’s He Yong’s cousin; many resources at Chengqian Entertainment are available to him. Why is he so keen on snatching the resources from you?”

”It’s because he’s competing with Chen Weian,” Zhou Lan said, ”And the resources I have are often beyond the company’s reach, easier to grab.”

Zhou Yun: ”I can’t understand.”

”Anyway, he’s very annoying, but due to He Yong, I can’t retaliate too excessively,” Zhou Lan said, ”If it were someone else, I’d use all my efforts to kick them out of the company.”

”But isn’t Xu Siyao’s agent him?” Zhou Yun suddenly remembered.

Zhou Lan shook her head, smiled, and said, ”Xu Siyao doesn’t like him, and he doesn’t like Xu Siyao either. I’ve heard Xu Siyao is about to switch to Chen Weian.”

”Isn’t Chen Weian already managing Lin Miaoyi and Jin Lin? Does he have the energy to take on Xu Siyao too?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.
