Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1021: Chapter 598: Gediyah’s Conspiracy (Part 2)

They can be said to be standing at the very top of the international actors’ ranks.

Although Song Chi is the most internationally well-known actor among the young generation of male actors in China, he hasn’t actually participated in any major international productions, so his fame is actually similar to Zhou Yun’s, with too much publicity and hype, not as big as it seems.

Zhou Yun was surprised that all the actresses she met today actually knew Song Chi.

”I absolutely adore your boyfriend!” Sedar suddenly changed her whole demeanor, no longer as aloof as before, saying, ”He’s so handsome, brimming with charm both in movies and in real life. You’re truly lucky.”

Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”He’s also lucky to have a girlfriend like me.”

”Of course.” Sedar laughed, ”I was almost going to collaborate with him on a movie, but he turned it down. I still haven’t figured out why he rejected it.”

”Hmm?” Zhou Yun asked curiously, ”What movie?”

”The ’Divine Artifact’ series,” Sedar mentioned her most famous and top-grossing major production, ”There was an Asian character in the series that was initially intended for him, but he turned down the role. Later, the script was revised, and the character became someone else. I thought I could work with him; it left me quite depressed.”

Zhou Yun didn’t expect the ’Divine Artifact’ series to have approached Song Chi before.

She was a bit surprised.

Song Chi had never heard about this.

Moreover, not only her, but Song Chi had never mentioned this matter in front of the media.

If it were another actor, even if they didn’t act in ’Divine Artifact,’ they would definitely promote this matter—the impression that even the Divine Artifact series approached him, raising his market value.

Song Chi certainly doesn’t need to do this.

But the fact that he has never mentioned this matter from beginning to end still astonishes Zhou Yun.

Sedar asked, ”Does he not like acting abroad?”

Zhou Yun thought for a moment, shook her head, and said, ”No, Sedar, maybe he really hasn’t had the time. He’s the top actor in our China; many people seek him for films, and his schedule is always very tight. He’s just finished filming one movie and is set to start another next month.”

Sedar was a little surprised.

”But, it’s the ’Divine Artifact’,” Sedar said, ”Isn’t it attractive to him at all?”

Zhou Yun said, ”He’s not the kind of actor who seeks to act in blockbusters.”

”I know, he’s an extremely talented actor, but...” Sedar wanted to say something but stayed silent for a long time.

Zhou Yun knew what she wanted to express.

In the world of acting, both foreign and domestic, it’s difficult to claim no pursuit of fame or desire to be recognized by audiences worldwide.

Song Chi is also not a saint who doesn’t covet fame or fortune.

But Zhou Yun couldn’t explain Song Chi’s intentions to Sedar.

If Song Chi wasn’t China’s top actor and a representative of young male actors, he might have already stepped into Hollywood blockbusters, playing significant supporting roles beside the main character, paving his path to globalization.

However, Song Chi carries this label, so he couldn’t take on such a role as a Hollywood blockbuster’s supporting actor.

Zhou Yun understands Song Chi’s thoughts.

Thus, if ’Killing Song’ hadn’t offered her the leading role, she wouldn’t have chosen to take this movie.

She understands Song Chi, supports him, and is more willing to walk the same path with him.

At the same time, she also realizes that Song Chi’s situation is more difficult than hers.

No matter what, the current film industry environment hasn’t truly achieved gender equality.

Actresses often don’t bear the most central part under the larger context.

Therefore, a major production like ’Killing Song’ being offered to Zhou Yun is indeed a rare opportunity.

But for a major production, if the lead role is male, setting him as an Asian is less likely.

Because in Hollywood’s environment, Asian male actors are more marginalized.

The female identity can represent diversity, whereas men often have it harder.

Zhou Yun told Sedar, ”I’ll convey your thoughts to Song Chi. I think Song Chi would also be very willing to collaborate with an excellent actress like you. If there’s a good opportunity in the future, we can facilitate a collaboration.”
