Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1038: Chapter 603: Casual Conversation

The next day, Song Chi arrived.

The crew of ”Chen Yin” is Director Kang Xin’s usual team, so everyone was well acquainted with Song Chi.

When Song Chi appeared, no one treated him like an outsider; they greeted him with cheerful smiles.

Although the film hasn’t officially started, everyone was just making early preparations.

Zhou Yun and Jiang Yuzhen were there for rehearsals.

Zhou Yun was wearing a black down jacket and a pair of fluffy boots, wrapping herself up snugly.

The original setting for ”Chen Yin” was in the summer, but due to changes in the filming schedule, it was changed to winter.

Fortunately, the season and climate are merely backgrounds in this story, not playing any substantive role, otherwise it would indeed be a bit challenging.

When Song Chi walked in, Zhou Yun and Jiang Yuzhen were in the midst of rehearsing.

Director Kang Xin and the assistant directors were watching on the side, occasionally discussing with them.

Song Chi didn’t go forward to disturb them, but stood in the corner observing.

Zhou Yun was communicating with Director Kang Xin about the scene they were rehearsing.

”The force with one hand is too light,” Director Kang Xin said to Zhou Yun. ”The action of slamming a hand on the table usually happens in relationships where someone has a higher status over another. Think about it, right? In this story, you and your mom have a very intense antagonistic relationship. Since childhood, she hasn’t treated you like a normal mother would. In this scene, you’re being doubted and mocked by everyone, and when you return home, your mom ridicules and shames you further. At this moment, you finally can’t take it, erupting like a volcano. You’re not merely losing your temper; it’s a catharsis, an emotional release. It’s precisely this kind of release that prevents you from reasonably controlling your actions and expressions, there should be a moment of uncontrolled anger, that’s the best expression.”

Director Kang Xin dissected the scene thoroughly with Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun nodded, understanding Director Kang Xin’s intentions.

She really liked Director Kang Xin’s approach to directing.

”Xiao Yun, throughout filming this drama, make sure less about technique, rather immerse yourself into the state of each scene,” Kang Xin said. ”You’re young; the more genuine the reaction, the more spirited it is. In this respect, you’re different from Yuzhen. For her role, she needs a bit more technical flair because in life she’s not a typical figure. Her mother character is not easily accepted by the public, so she has to construct something, leaving marks that exceed everyday life, to make the character stand out. Chen Yin’s character isn’t like that; for twenty years she’s lived in grey and black, hiding herself away, yet successive events corner her almost to the brink. Under such intense conflict, she’s forced to be hysterical. Every tear you shed must reach the audience’s heart, only then does the character become established.”

Director Kang Xin’s guidance gave Zhou Yun a deeper understanding of the character she was to play.

”I see where your current problem lies, you’re skilled at shaping a character, filling her with details to make her more real and rich, but as a result, moments lose their impact,” Kang Xin said. ”When I directed ’Heart Inquiry,’ I mentioned to you that what I liked best is that momentary emotion in every performance, sometimes it changes an entire scene.”

...

Director Kang Xin spoke at length.

Once the group began discussing, they easily got into the zone, accidentally veering off topic.

It was Jiang Yuzhen who noticed Song Chi standing in the corner, showed a surprised smile, and waved her hand.

”Song Chi is here,” Jiang Yuzhen first informed Director Kang Xin and Zhou Yun, then raised her voice, ”What are you doing standing there? Come over.”

Song Chi chuckled and walked over.

”Director, Sister Yuzhen,” Song Chi greeted them, smiling warmly.

”Are your legs completely healed now?” Kang Xin, seeing him, immediately checked Song Chi’s legs.

”They’re healed,” Song Chi nodded, ”I saw you all engrossed in discussion, so I didn’t want to interrupt.”

Zhou Yun held Song Chi’s hand, smiling with a hint of sweetness.

”When did you arrive?”

”Half an hour ago,” Song Chi asked, ”Are you guys rehearsing?”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”We’re rehearsing with Sister Yuzhen now, and next we’ll focus on shooting scenes between me and Sister Yuzhen.”

Jiang Yuzhen folded her arms across her chest and said to Kang Xin, ”Director, these two fell in love while filming your movie, you’re the matchmaker. When they get married, they must give you a red envelope.”

Kang Xin laughed, ”Of course, the red envelope must be delivered.”

Song Chi nodded, ”Absolutely, not only a red envelope, I’ve even thought about having the director officiate the wedding.”

Jiang Yuzhen chuckled and said, ”That’s great.”

Kang Xin asked, ”So when do you two plan to get married?”

Song Chi and Zhou Yun exchanged a glance.

Song Chi tightened his hold on Zhou Yun’s hand, ”We can get married anytime, but right now we both have no free time, so I think we might have to wait a bit longer, seeing how Xiao Yun feels.”

”Getting married is easy, but planning a wedding and all is troublesome. My upcoming schedule is packed, no time at all.” Zhou Yun said helplessly, ”And Song Chi’s company is just taking off, very busy as well, no rush really. Even if we marry, our lifestyle won’t change from what it is now. I hope that after marriage things can be a bit more relaxed, not as busy as we are now.”

Kang Xin nodded.

”You two should think it through, make a plan, don’t keep waiting until suddenly ten years have passed,” Kang Xin said, ”Take advantage of your youth now.”

”That’s what I say, while you’re young,” Jiang Yuzhen said, ”Once your responsibilities grow, you’ll hesitate to marry.”

Song Chi shook his head, chuckling, ”We will certainly marry before we’re thirty.”

”That’s still a few years; you’re both so young,” Jiang Yuzhen said.

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s good, we can work hard now, taking advantage of not having any other burdens.”

”Indeed,” Jiang Yuzhen nodded.

Kang Xin said, ”Stopping now wouldn’t be suitable either, it’s your time to forge ahead.”

He was speaking about Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun: ”Don’t worry, once we’ve decided to marry, invitations for the wedding will be sent to you immediately, and I won’t miss out on that contribution money.”

She smiled.

Jiang Yuzhen also smiled, ”I love to give that contribution money.”
