Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1009: Chapter 594: Award Ceremony (Part 6)

Many people don’t know about the incident where You Jiang was attacked in the United States, nor do they know about Zhou Yun attending this awards ceremony in the United States, let alone that ”Behind the Scenes” is currently representing Chinese cinema in the American awards season charge.

This GIF brought everyone’s attention to ”Behind the Scenes.”

——Do the people who said Zhou Yun isn’t popular in the US feel embarrassed? Can your idol attend the New York Film Critics Circle awards ceremony? Can your idol be publicly mentioned as a talented newcomer by Spielberg? Can your idol walk the red carpet in a custom Dior outfit?

Zhou Yun’s fans feel vindicated.

On the day when the cast of ”Chinese Warrior” was officially announced, to what extent was Zhou Yun criticized?

Even when ”Killing Song” was later announced, a bunch of haters criticized Zhou Yun by saying, ”How can ’Killing Song’ compare with ’Chinese Warrior’?”

Zhou Yun’s fans felt like it was a festival, pushing this topic and term to the forefront of popularity so everyone could see it.

In contrast, Zhou Yun’s rivals and haters weren’t very happy.

They certainly didn’t just give up, but fought back significantly.

——Not even nominated for Best Actress? How shameless to attend the awards ceremony?

——It’s just a film critics association awards ceremony, is it really worth boasting about like this? If you have the guts, go to the Oscar awards ceremony.

——Is it still the time to play toadyism to the West?

The first two comments, Zhou Yun’s fans found hard to refute, as they were facts and not particularly brag-worthy.

But the third comment?

Ha ha, sorry.

——We play toadyism to the West? Zhou Yun has won the Qingmu Award, Lingjun Award, and Tiansi Award’s Movie Queen within a year, yet you turn a blind eye and say Zhou Yun’s acting is poor and she’s just lucky. Blind as you are, of course, you only see toadyism to the West and fail to see her as a lively presence representing Chinese cinema people on the international film stage.

...

The online world in China was bustling, as if another great battle was imminent.

Zhou Yun, who was at the awards ceremony, didn’t know this and was just waiting for the ceremony to end.

”Behind the Scenes” achieved nothing, but its appearance at this awards ceremony was already a success—it successfully broke the language barrier for foreign films in the American film industry.

After the awards ceremony, they attended the following party together.

Zhou Yun mostly went for Director Chen Zian.

Director Chen Zian did not attend the awards ceremony but said he would attend the party.

As a director with the highest achievements on the international film stage, Chen Zian is someone every Chinese cinema person wants to collaborate with.

Zhou Yun had met and spoken with Director Chen Zian before, but it was limited to that, and they were not familiar with each other at all.

Of course, Zhou Yun hoped Director Chen Zian would remember her, and ideally, think of her for suitable roles in the future.

It’s no exaggeration to say that if Director Chen Zian were willing to use her, she would be willing to act even without a paycheck.

The party was livelier than the awards ceremony; because of the private environment and the absence of cameras, the celebrities who maintained a good image at the awards ceremony began to drink, laugh, and reveal their private sides.

Zhou Yun went straight with Director Shi Luoqi to meet several directors and producers.

Shi Luoqi wanted to introduce her to the American film industry.

Most people were very friendly and expressed their liking for her.

Whether they had genuinely watched ”Behind the Scenes” or not, they at least complimented Zhou Yun’s performance in the film to her face and looked forward to her future works.

When Director Chen Zian appeared, he garnered a lot of attention.

Even in the American film industry, Chen Zian is very famous.

He has directed several American films and is a frequent visitor to the Oscars.

Due to the many people surrounding and talking to Chen Zian, Zhou Yun found it hard to approach and speak to him immediately.

It was Chen Zian who, upon seeing her, took the initiative to come over and say, ”Xiao Yun, we meet again.”

Someone nearby was taking photos with a phone.

Zhou Lan was also taking pictures to capture this moment.

Zhou Yun said, ”Director Chen, long time no see.”

Chen Zian said, ”Today Shi Luoqi told me you would be here, so I wanted to see you. I heard you’re going back to China soon to shoot?”

”Yes, it’s a project I accepted earlier, and the schedule is already set to start in December. I can’t delay other people’s work,” Zhou Yun explained.

Chen Zian nodded, looking into Zhou Yun’s eyes, and said, ”Do you have some time in a bit? I’d like to show you a script.”

Zhou Yun’s heartbeat instantly accelerated, and she found it somewhat difficult to conceal her emotions.

What Chen Zian’s words implied, she wasn’t stupid, and she immediately realized what they meant. She just felt surprised, thrilled, and incredulous.

No one wouldn’t want to be in a Chen Zian film.

No one.

Zhou Yun hadn’t interviewed every actor, but she was sure about this.
