Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1008: Chapter 594: Awards Ceremony (Part 5)

Bruce’s words were very straightforward.

But such blunt words also made Gediyah feel irritable.

”Bruce, if you are considering the box office, then why is that Chinese woman named He Wenyun not yet starring in a film, but you’ve cast her as the lead in ’Chinese Warrior’? This is a big investment, aren’t you afraid of losing money?”

”Of course, we’ve conducted rigorous market research and estimates.” Bruce maintained a smile and said, ”In fact, ’Chinese Warrior’ is not a film that uses celebrity as its selling point. If we were to use celebrity as a selling point, why would we use Chinese actors? They don’t share our market.”

Gediyah was left speechless.

Bruce had blocked everything she could say right in her throat.

Gediyah’s mood worsened, becoming more flustered and exasperated.

...

After the awards ceremony officially began, Zhou Yun was already seated.

’Behind the Scenes’ was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Supporting Actor—Best Supporting Actor was You Jiang. Although he was undoubtedly the male lead in this movie, Paimon specifically nominated him for Supporting Actor to increase his chances of being nominated. This strategy proved successful.

This is also why You Jiang insisted on attending tonight.

He wore a custom mask and drew attention wherever he went.

After the ceremony began, his mask even became a subject of playful teasing by the host.

Throughout, Zhou Yun sat quietly in her seat, not captured by cameras nor drawing the gaze of others.

It was rare and peaceful.

Until the announcement of the Best Foreign Language Film, Zhou Yun was called out once by Director Spielberg on stage. Spielberg said that because of the Best Foreign Language Film category, he could see so many excellent foreign films each year and meet many talented newcomers, including Miss Zhou Yun, who starred in ’Behind the Scenes.’

With Spielberg’s cue, the crowd began searching for Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun guessed maybe the live broadcast would show her?

But she didn’t notice any camera lenses pointed at her.

She kept reminding herself to relax and maintain a calm smile.

Finally, the result for Best Foreign Language Film was announced, and it wasn’t ’Behind the Scenes.’

The winning crew happily celebrated, with the producer and director taking the stage to receive the award.

Zhou Yun watched them joyfully ascend the stage, feeling somewhat disappointed inside.

While applauding the winning film, she also paid attention to the expressions of Xue Qin and Shi Luoqi.

Their faces showed no sign of disappointment, unsurprisingly, as even in disappointment, one would seldom express it openly in such moments.

When it was time to announce Best Supporting Actor, Zhou Yun once again felt nervous and expectant for Mr. You Jiang.

However, the result was again a miss.

Actually, for ’Behind the Scenes,’ just being nominated was a significant achievement.

Zhou Yun turned to You Jiang sitting beside her and said, ”Teacher You, you will always be the best leading actor in my heart.”

At this moment, You Jiang unexpectedly turned and joked, ”Isn’t it Song Chi instead?”

Zhou Yun couldn’t help but laugh.

”Teacher You, stop teasing me.”

The two of them chatted and laughed together.

But neither of them knew that during the live broadcast, the camera switched to their laughing scene.

Perhaps the director intended to capture the expressions of other nominees after announcing the winner, coincidentally capturing the scene of Zhou Yun and You Jiang talking and laughing—they thought the camera must have been focused on the winner, not them, so they didn’t pretend and displayed a carefree demeanor.

Some sharp-eyed viewers watching the live broadcast from China quickly recorded and uploaded the scene to domestic social media, captioned: ”Look at the calm and elegant demeanor of our country’s Movie Emperor and Movie Queen, laughing and chatting without a hint of disappointment after the award announcement.”

At this time, many people in China were on their morning commute, scrolling through their phones on the subway.

This GIF rapidly spread throughout the internet.

Its popularity wasn’t just because of their ”clouds parting and skies clearing” attitude and ”laughing and chatting,” but also because of Zhou Yun’s mesmerizing smile when she looked at You Jiang and his striking mask design.
