Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 351: Chapter 306: Ascent Phase: 142

This time, no matter how Zhou Yun pestered Zhou Lan, Zhou Lan kept tight-lipped and refused to reveal any information about that person.

Zhou Yun had no choice but to give up.

Zhou Lan: ”There’s still some time left. Sit down, and I’ll tell you about some of your upcoming schedule.”

”Oh.” Zhou Yun sat cross-legged on the sofa, making a well-behaved, listening posture.

Zhou Lan said, ”After the October National Day holiday is over, you’ll join the crew to shoot ’Gentle Little Horse’. Respecting your opinion, except for the two advertising shoots already scheduled and the recording of ’Geology Talk’, no other work will be arranged for you, allowing you to focus on preparing for ’Gentle Little Horse’. However, after ’Gentle Little Horse’ wraps up, the company has planned three live streaming events for you. You know how it is with Singles’ Day; the work that follows can bring in a lot of money, and the company can’t afford not to earn.”

Zhou Yun nodded, indicating that he understood.

”In addition to the three live streams, there’s also a gala performance where you need to sing a song. But you really don’t sing very well, so I’ve already discussed it with the other party. They said you can record and auto-tune in advance, and then play the recorded version during the live broadcast,” said Zhou Lan.

As soon as Zhou Yun heard this, he immediately shook his head and said, ”No, I won’t lip-sync.”

”You’re not a singer. Lip-syncing is quite common for actors in this industry,” Zhou Lan said. ”You don’t have to feel burdened; it’s not your specialty after all.”

”No way, lip-syncing is absolutely not okay with me. I would rather embarrass myself on stage,” said Zhou Yun.

Zhou Lan: ”...That will affect your image.”

”What image?” said Zhou Yun. ”I’ve never claimed to be a great singer.”

”Right now, to the audience, you are totally a goddess, okay?”

”Goddess? Then I should break their illusion even more.” Zhou Yun grabbed Zhou Lan’s hand, speaking earnestly, ”Sister Lan, you know what kind of person I am privately, please don’t package me into a goddess image.”

”Brands like VX and Jinling Jewelry are not looking to find a celebrity who isn’t popular with the public to be their spokesperson. You see some humorous female celebrities, so popular, and with great audience appeal, why don’t they have jewelry or fashion endorsements? Is it because they’re not famous enough?” Zhou Lan said. ”Xiao Yun, an artist’s image is very important. It’s the butterfly effect; one misstep and the damages can be severe.”

Zhou Yun shook his head, saying, ”Let’s not talk about the comedy actresses for now, but I don’t think revealing my bad singing will affect my image. Moreover, I’m not tone-deaf or completely unable to sing; at worst, I’m just not that pleasant to listen to. I hope to stay as authentic as possible within my abilities. If I can’t be genuine, at least I shouldn’t fake it. I really don’t want to lip-sync, it’s about my professional ethics.”

Zhou Lan didn’t expect to clash with Zhou Yun over this issue.

Honestly, lip-syncing in the current environment really isn’t a big deal.

In a live broadcast gala, the number of people actually singing live wouldn’t even exceed the fingers on two hands.

”Fine, I’ll find you a coach, but you must diligently practice on your own. If you still go off-tune or off-key when you’re on stage, don’t blame me for turning off your microphone and letting the backstage play the recording,” Zhou Lan said helplessly.

Zhou Yun: ”You shouldn’t have taken singing gigs for me in the first place, knowing full well that I’m not great at it.”
