Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 397: Chapter 321: Keeping a Distance

This scandal became the talk of the town for two days before it gradually cooled off.

After all, a scandal involving Song Chi, Zhou Yun, and Gu Huaichun, all top-tier celebrities, was bound to be a spectacle.

The person who first commented under Zhou Yun’s Weibo post has deleted their account, now untraceable.

A PR crisis was thus resolved without any real danger, and Chengqian Entertainment’s PR department breathed a huge sigh of relief.

The PR team remarked, ”Song Chi’s single statement was worth the work of dozens of us.”

”One word: ’Boyfriend material’!” A young girl exclaimed excitedly.

In many girls’ eyes, Song Chi’s actions were indeed the epitome of boyfriend material, very reliable, standing up for Zhou Yun immediately when she was under attack and questioned by others.

However, some also said, ”That’s one way to put it, but honestly, Zhou Yun’s actions were somewhat disrespectful towards Song Chi. If my girlfriend publicly praised the subject of her rumors, I’d be upset.”

”Come on, first get your facts straight about who the subject of the rumors is, okay? If there was really something fishy, it’d be a cause for concern; but if it’s all unsubstantiated, I wouldn’t let it affect my normal interactions.”

The boys retorted, ”That may be so, but shouldn’t there still be some boundaries between men and women?”

”Ha, don’t recall you maintaining any distance with us regularly. I get it, from now on, please don’t keep dragging us along for meals, okay? I have a boyfriend.”

”Hey, hey, hey, is that necessary? I’m just expressing my opinion normally; why are you actually getting angry?”

”Don’t you understand why I’m angry? It’s precisely because many people think like you, not realizing the impact their words can have, that we end up facing such baseless rumors.” The girl vented, ”What did Zhou Yun and Gu Huaichun do? Just act in a movie together! Have they been seen going out or holding hands? Everyone assumes that Zhou Yun surely has something going on with Gu Huaichun.”

”I’m wrong, I admit my mistake!”

...

Sometimes, a farce really comes unexpectedly and unavoidably.

Zhou Yun refers to it as an undeserved disaster.

However, if you say this incident truly affected Zhou Yun’s mood or changed her life, that would be an overstatement.

Yuk Chu still teased her over WeChat, saying anything she did could spark debate, like if it’s appropriate for women to fart in public.

Zhou Yun found Yuk Chu’s description bitterly ironic.

Yuk Chu has been filming as a supporting actress in a crew recently; with not many scenes, she often had to wait her turn. She spent most of her free time surfing the web and gossiping.

”Still, be careful lately,” Yuk Chu added, ”Even my agent said so. You’ve risen so quickly that you’ve made many feel threatened; it’s very likely you’ll be targeted. This incident is a sign—I guess many of your competitors orchestrated this hype; otherwise, such a trivial matter wouldn’t have blown up across the internet.”

Zhou Yun smiled.

Look, this is what a real friend is.

Others would only say, ”Wow, Zhou Yun has become too famous; even trivial issues can garner nationwide attention and debate.”

Only a friend like Yuk Chu could recognize the manipulations and intentional fueling behind the scenes. Famous? Zhou Yun is self-aware. She could never cause such a huge uproar alone. Someone deliberately magnified the situation, hoping people would hate Zhou Yun more, making brands and producers hesitant to choose her.

”It’s fine, I’ll be entering a film set to shoot a movie soon anyway,” Zhou Yun said, ”Going into ’seclusion.’”

”Is it ’Warm Little Horse’?” Yuk Chu asked.

”Yep.” Zhou Yun said, ”After finishing this film, I’ll join the crew for ’Falling Leaves’ in December. I won’t have time to breathe by the end of this year.”

Yuk Chu said, ”Just focus on your acting, and grab another Movie Queen award to spite them.”

Zhou Yun: ”You too, let’s spite them together.”

Yuk Chu laughed heartily, ”Let’s see when the opportunity comes, for now, I’ll keep climbing the hard way.”

They hung up the phone.

Zhou Yun’s lips curled into a smile.
