Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 354: Chapter 309: Rising Phase: 145

Zhou Yun asked, ”So, how much does your sister make in a month?”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Seems like just three thousand yuan a month.”

”Three thousand? In Shanghai?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

”She’s not in Shanghai, she’s in Wuhan.” Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Including room and board, that salary is quite high.”

Zhou Yun nodded and asked, ”How many days can she rest in a month?”

”One day,” Zheng Xiaojue said, ”It’s hard for them to find time to rest, they usually accumulate their resting time to go home for a visit.”

Zhou Yun, upon hearing what Zheng Xiaojue had just said, startled and asked, ”Do you mean that apart from the New Year, you haven’t been home either?”

The wheel of Zhou Yun’s work life spins incessantly, so does Zheng Xiaojue’s as she follows along; Zheng Xiaojue can rest occasionally, only because Zhou Yun is resting and not working.

Zheng Xiaojue nodded and said, ”Our home is too far away, it’s quite troublesome to go back, so I usually don’t.”

Zhou Yun said, ”It looks like I should talk to Sister Lan, to give you guys more holidays.”

”No need, no need,” Zheng Xiaojue hurriedly waved her hand, saying, ”You don’t take holidays, how can we rest? Moreover, being your assistant is a job many envy, earning several times more than my friends do. My family is very satisfied, telling me to work hard.”

Her face was filled with genuine gratitude.

Zhou Yun, on the other hand, felt guilty.

Honestly, Zhou Yun indeed rarely paid attention to the living conditions of Zheng Xiaojue and Cao Jun. It wasn’t her who issued their paychecks; it was the company. Zhou Lan did give them some bonuses according to the situation, but those were, after all, not a steady income. Furthermore, apart from income, because of her job, Zheng Xiaojue and Cao Jun virtually had no private life, following her far and wide.

Cao Jun is usually quite reserved, a man of few words. He is thin and shrewd-looking, and at this moment, he also smiled shyly.

Zhou Yun said, ”It just so happens that I’m going to join a new group in October. Before that, just recording one show and shooting two commercials, after these tasks, we will give you a holiday then come back after the national holiday.”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Really, it’s not necessary, Sister Xiao Yun. My job is to take care of you normally. If you are not staying on the set, there’s no one to manage everything else.”

Zhou Yun: ”I’m not helpless in life.”

After having dinner, Cao Jun drove Zhou Yun back to her apartment.

She called Zhou Lan and talked about this matter.

Zhou Lan agreed right away.

”Actually, I wanted to talk to you about this too. It’s been over two years, and both Xiaoju and Cao Jun, I see, are quite good. They are young now, following you around isn’t much, but in a few years, they’ll need to settle down, and continuing these kinds of tasks won’t be suitable. I am thinking about giving them room to move upwards.” Zhou Lan said, ”Anyway, we already have our small team, and you’ve still got over two years left on your contract. Whether it’s renewing with Chengqian or going solo, we need to maintain this team regardless, others can leave, but I hope Xiaoju and Cao Jun can stay long-term. On one hand, because they are indeed competent, and on the other hand, they’ve been with you for so long, know a lot about you, I wouldn’t be comfortable letting them go.”

”So, Sister Lan, what do you mean?”

”I’m also managing more and more artists here with Wang Jing, which will inevitably reduce the time I can devote to you. I plan to train Xiaoju as an agent, of course, I’ve actually been doing this already, but it needs several years; by then, let Xiaoju be your executive agent, responsible for detailed affairs coordination.” Zhou Lan said, ”What do you think?”

”Sounds good.”

”As for Cao Jun, I haven’t yet figured out a suitable role for him, but having been with you for two years, he is very tight-lipped, actually, he’s your driver, knows everywhere you go. So many things Xiaoju might not know, but he does, he even kept quiet when you had that secret fling with Song Chi. Even though I was quite upset about it, it also proved how tight-lipped he can be, such a person can be assigned a critical role.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I also think he’s reliable.”

”Let’s not rush it, only been two years, let’s observe for some more time, but it’s almost the end of the year again, I have already brought it up with the company to raise their compensation.” Zhou Lan said, ”If the company disagrees, you’ll have to intervene.”

”If the company disagrees, no problem, I can subsidize them myself.” Zhou Yun said, ”At least they get a pay raise every year; can’t have them working with me all the time without improving their treatment.”

”Yes, that’s also what I think.”

”Then thank you for the hard work.” Zhou Yun said.

Good to have Zhou Lan as the major housekeeper, managing everything inside and out.

...

Another rather significant matter, the casting for the male lead in VX Investments’ costume drama.

Zhou Lan coordinated everyone’s schedule, and soon the date for the second round of auditions was set.

This time just over twenty people participated, the venue was a conference room at Chengqian Entertainment.

Once the time was set, they notified everyone who made it into the second round.

Wen Xi specifically sent a message to Zhou Yun, expressing thanks.

Because Jin Su also made it into the second round.

Zhou Yun actually wasn’t sure how to respond to the message. Jin Su’s advancement to the second round was purely because Zhou Lan had named him; actually, Zhou Yun wasn’t quite in favor of Jin Su. Jin Su was too thin, and too tall, his physique suitable for the catwalk but not for this drama.

Zhou Yun felt that she ultimately would not choose him.

But Zhou Yun hadn’t expected that she would meet one of the auditionees before the second audition.

Yu Zhiyang.

According to the work schedule, Zhou Yun was to shoot a camera advertisement in the studio on the 23rd.

According to the advertisement filming plan, there were several other young students.

Yu Zhiyang was one of them.

Zhou Yun was momentarily stunned when she saw Yu Zhiyang at the shoot; however, Yu Zhiyang wasn’t surprised—Zhou Yun quickly realized that Yu Zhiyang must have known she would be shooting this advertisement before coming.

He was quite far away, nodded at her, his attitude was not very enthusiastic, didn’t come over to greet her proactively.

Zhou Yun immediately called Zhou Lan upon entering the rest room, asking, ”Why is Yu Zhiyang also here?”

Zhou Lan was on her way over; they did not start from the same place.

”Yu Zhiyang? I didn’t know, is he also involved in today’s advertisement shoot?”

”Yes.”

”Probably his agency sent his resume to the brand side, and the brand side felt he was suitable and selected him.” Zhou Lan said.
