Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 400: Chapter 321: Keep Your Distance (Part 4)

Zhou Yun gave the address to Wen Xi and said, ”That was close. It’s all fine now.”

Wen Xi smiled, ”All’s well. Usually, these kind of reporters who show up in groups of a dozen or so are easier to deal with. They’re not exactly trying to dig out any secrets from you. As long as they have some news to report and can earn a bonus, they’re satisfied.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”You have a bit more experience in this area than I do. Now whenever I see reporters, I get scared. Some time ago, Song Chi and I encountered a reporter who was very aggressive; the microphone was almost shoved down our throats. Their words were so out of line, it was infuriating.”

”Some reporters can be a bit excessive,” Wen Xi nodded in agreement.

Right at that moment, Zhou Lan’s call came through.

”Did you go out with Wen Xi? The video of you two being surrounded by reporters has gone viral.”

Zhou Yun asked in surprise, ”Already? That was fast. How much time has passed?”

Zhou Lan said, ”It’s fine, it hasn’t hit the trending searches yet, the company’s people have been monitoring it.”

”All right.”

Zhou Lan asked, ”Are you still with Wen Xi right now?”

”Mhm, Sister Wen Xi is giving me a ride back,” replied Zhou Yun.

Zhou Lan guessed, ”VX might have some opinions about this.”

”Huh? Why?” asked Zhou Yun.

”Neither of you were wearing VX clothes,” Zhou Lan pointed out.

Only then did Zhou Yun realize.

”Oh, indeed.” Zhou Yun was surprised.

Zhou Lan said, ”Both of you are spokespeople for VX, and you were caught on camera shopping for other brands’ clothing. I’ve already spoken to the company to cool down the video’s exposure and I hope it doesn’t spread too widely.”

Zhou Yun said apologetically, ”Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.”

Zhou Lan added, ”Yeah, you better not go out to public places again today. Although the contract doesn’t stipulate that you have to wear VX’s clothing at all times, it is still best to primarily represent VX during high exposure moments.”

”Understood.” Zhou Yun ended the call and relayed the message to Wen Xi.

After hearing the news, Wen Xi laughed and said, ”What we wear on a day-to-day basis is our freedom, the contract doesn’t restrict that.”

”True,” Zhou Yun nodded.

Wen Xi said, ”If it weren’t for the reporters taking photos, it wouldn’t have been an issue.”

Zhou Yun responded, ”But being photographed shopping for a different brand’s clothing is indeed not ideal.”

Wen Xi agreed, ”That’s true.”

Sure enough, soon after returning home, Zheng Xiaowen’s call came in.

Zheng Xiaowen didn’t sound like she was blaming, but her words implied a hope that Zhou Yun would wear VX’s clothing more often in public from now on.

After Zhou Yun repeatedly promised to pay attention in the future, Zheng Xiaowen ended the call.

Now, Zhou Yun wasn’t a small-time artist, and VX couldn’t pressure Zhou Yun as if they were a sugar daddy. The only option was for Zheng Xiaowen to personally make the call, appealing to emotions and reasoning.

After hanging up, Zhou Yun just felt exhausted.

Suddenly, he didn’t feel much like being a spokesperson anymore.

This thought was fleeting. Zhou Yun knew he was benefiting while still complaining, and didn’t dare to let this thought wander further, quickly suppressing it.

...

Before going to bed that night, Zhou Lan messaged Zhou Yun and said they had contacted Yu Zhiyang’s boss, whose name was Xu Guiying.

Guiying agreed to meet, but she had a flight overseas the next afternoon; they would have to wait for her return to discuss further.

Zhou Yun said, ”Who knows when she will return from overseas.”

Zhou Lan mentioned, ”She’s going for a week, but by then you’ll already have joined the crew and started filming; will you ask for leave from the production to meet?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Ask her if we can meet tomorrow morning, at her place is fine. I’ll visit her.”

Five minutes later, Zhou Lan replied: She said it’s possible.

Zhou Yun: Then I’ll go tomorrow morning.

Zhou Lan: Do you need me to come with you?

Zhou Yun: No need, Xiao Cao can drive me there. I’ll go alone.
