Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 396: Chapter 320: First Light: 3_7

Too many places to give thanks.

Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”No need to mention it. It was just a small favor. Don’t worry about it. Next time you bring Xiao Bei to Shanghai, contact me, and I’ll treat you guys to a meal.”

Zhong Zhihui smiled, somewhat embarrassed, and said, ”We should be the ones treating you.”

Zhou Yun laughed heartily and said, ”When Xiao Bei comes of age, I’ll let him treat me.”

She waved her hand, bid farewell to everyone, and left.

...

After leaving the hospital, Zheng Xiaojue asked, ”Sister Xiao Yun, why did you give out your phone number so easily? What if they leak your contact information to someone else?”

”If it leaks, I’ll just change my number,” Zhou Yun said. ”But I don’t want to go back on my word. I promised to keep in touch with Xiao Bei.”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”I’ve never met anyone more patient than you.”

Zhou Yun smiled radiantly.

”I just really admire Mr. Zhong, and I like Xiao Bei a lot,” Zhou Yun said. ”They are both really good people, and I want to make them feel warm.”

Zheng Xiaojue made a thoughtful ”Oh” sound.

”Wait, wait, wait, Xiaoju, you haven’t told me yet, did you meet up with your Brother Ze during the holiday?” Zhou Yun asked with a gossipy tone.

Zheng Xiaojue immediately said, ”No, no, he’s been working all the time. How could he have had time to meet up?”

Zhou Yun made a suggestive ”Oh” sound. ”So if he had time, you would have met up with him?”

”Aiya, Sister Xiao Yun, like I told you, he has a girl he likes,” Zheng Xiaojue said. ”It’s not me.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”But do you like him?”

Zheng Xiaojue shook her head vigorously like a tambourine. ”Don’t like him.”

She was firm in her tone.

The more she said this, the more doubtful Zhou Yun became.

Zheng Xiaojue, a bit annoyed, said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, just because you and Brother Chi have gone public, doesn’t mean you should tease me.”

Zhou Yun laughed heartily and said, ”Alright, I won’t tease you anymore.”

Heading home.

...

Zhou Yun spent the following day locked at home, studying the script of ”Warm Little Horse.”

As an actor, Zhou Yun always remembered that the most important thing was to do a good job in acting and not to let down any character. Although it was only a small role, Zhou Yun still found it very challenging, as it was a type she had never played before.

When she had nothing to do, she caught up with Gu Huaichun’s ”Dark Sky.” Frankly, this drama was shot much better than ”Eighth Heartbeat.” Gu Huaichun’s acting was good, a big improvement over ”Eighth Heartbeat.”

On Weibo, Zhou Yun helped to promote the show and also praised Gu Huaichun.

Who knew she would get a comment below her Weibo post: You’re already together with Song Chi, is it really appropriate to openly praise another man with whom you’ve had a flirtatious past?

Seeing this comment, Zhou Yun felt a rush of anger flare up in her heart.

She typed a few words and just as she was about to send them, her fingers paused.

Forget it, forget it. This thought crossed her mind.

Zhou Yun deleted the ”None of your business” she had typed out, and decided to ignore the comment.

But to Zhou Yun’s surprise, not only did the comment get a lot of likes, but many people also chimed in with their replies.

Zhou Yun found it baffling.

Zhou Lan also noticed the buzz under Zhou Yun’s Weibo.

Nowadays, every move and word of Zhou Yun was under the close scrutiny of many, and the activity under her Weibo was quickly screenshot by others, spread by marketing accounts, and became a hot topic.

”Sister Lan, there’s now a heated online debate about whether Zhou Yun was right to praise the rumored boyfriend Gu Huaichun’s actions,” a young lady responsible for Zhou Yun’s PR at the company called Zhou Lan. ”Are you at the company right now? The boss wants to invite you back for a meeting to discuss how to handle this.”

Zhou Lan had already seen the online news when she received the call.

She was so annoyed she cursed, ”Those people are really full of it!”

The young lady on the phone sounded meek and compliant.

Zhou Lan said, ”I’m on my way now.”

But before Zhou Lan could get to the company, another big scandal exploded online.

Zhou Yun hadn’t shown up yet when Song Chi appeared.

Song Chi showed up in the comment section of Zhou Yun’s Weibo, replying directly to the most liked skeptical comment with, ”My girlfriend praises whoever she wants, what’s it to you?”

If the earlier was like a melee of cold weapons, Song Chi’s arrival was like dropping a bomb on the internet.

Boom!

People got excited as if they’d been injected with adrenaline, spreading the news: Song Chi has come out to defend Zhou Yun!

In the age of the internet, everyone’s ”fan attributes” are weakening while the ”melons-eating spirit” is growing.

What Song Chi said didn’t matter, what mattered was the attitude he showed with those words.

Many people already felt that someone was being too nosy, and now they joined in mocking that person.

The marketing accounts were all over Weibo discussing the matter like they’d been injected with adrenaline, expressing their opinions and riding the wave for some traffic.

Zhou Yun couldn’t deny she was moved after seeing Song Chi’s comment.

But she was also worried about Song Chi getting dragged into this, so she replied to him: ”No need for you to get involved, just focus on your acting.”

Surprisingly, Song Chi was online and after a dozen seconds, he replied with, ”Yes, ma’am.”

”...”

”...”

The entire internet was stunned by this interaction.

What’s going on here?

From domineering husband to ”Yes, ma’am” hen-pecked hubbie? From innocent lotus-like fairy to ”mind your own business” boss lady?

People couldn’t quite picture Song Chi being so submissive in front of Zhou Yun.

After all, Song Chi’s public image was that of a cool, handsome, and slightly aloof figure.

The image of these two seemed like it should be strong male and weak female, but the reality appeared to be somewhat different?

At this point, Gu Huaichun made his ”belated” appearance.

He called Zhou Yun and said, ”I just saw the commotion online, do you need me to do anything?”

Zhou Yun replied, ”You better not do anything. With Song Chi’s appearance, everyone’s all fired up. If you come out now, some might say you’re jealously competing with Song Chi behind the scenes.”

Gu Huaichun sneered and said, ”Anyone who says that is really brain-dead, or probably drinking well water that’s been stagnant for two thousand years.”

Zhou Yun laughed, ”Who knew praising you would lead to such a mess, I’ll have to distance myself from you next time.”

”Wait, wait,” Gu Huaichun said, ”We can’t let these brain-dead people affect our friendship. Song Chi isn’t really misunderstanding anything, right?”

”Of course not, he knows better than that. It’s only those who view things through a biased lens that don’t do real work and pick at these faults.” Zhou Yun sneered, ”I hate those who pretend to be rational and objective just to be annoying. He should’ve just said outright that what I’m doing isn’t right, it would’ve sounded so much better than his green tea bitch tone.”

Gu Huaichun laughed.

”It must be your haters who can’t find anything else to pick on you for, so they’re nibbling at this,” Gu Huaichun said. ”But thank you, thanks to your Weibo post, ’my acting is so good’ trended, a blessing in disguise.”

”Your blessing out of my misfortune, yeah right,” Zhou Yun retorted.
