Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 383: Chapter 318: First Light: 1_4

Zhou Lan suddenly smiled coquettishly and mischievously, saying, ”She won’t be willing to sleep if you don’t come back.”

Zhou Yun threw a cushion from the sofa at Zhou Lan, ”Sister Lan!”

Zhang Cong looked utterly lost.

Song Chi smiled helplessly, blew Zhou Yun a kiss, and said, ”Then I’ll wait until I get back.”

Zhang Cong noticed that Zhou Yun’s face turned completely red.

”Get going, you!” Zhou Yun’s voice grew louder.

Song Chi and Zhang Cong left.

Zhou Yun gave Zhou Lan a pointed look and said, ”Sister Lan, don’t make those kinds of jokes in front of Song Chi next time!”

Zhou Lan shrugged her shoulders, sat down on the sofa, and said, ”Relax, your Brother Chi has seen way more than you think. You think he’s a naive young boy?”

Zhou Yun gave a sideways glance and said, ”I don’t want to hear it, and I don’t want to know. Just don’t make those jokes again in the future.”

”Fine, I got it,” Zhou Lan shook her head and said, ”Let’s get down to business. We should give up on Yu Zhiyang and look for other suitable candidates.”

”What happened? Can’t make it work?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan said, ”President He personally went to talk to his boss, and the message was very clear: they don’t want Yu Zhiyang to get famous unless he’s willing to toe the line.”

Zhou Yun frowned in disbelief, ”Such a strong possessive desire?”

”Yeah, Yu Zhiyang’s boss fears that if he becomes famous, he’ll become even more uncontrollable,” Zhou Lan said. ”There’s no way around it; Yu Zhiyang is under contract and must abide by it. We can’t bypass his company and sign a performance contract with him directly.”

Zhou Yun frowned deeply as he listened.

”So if Yu Zhiyang continues to disagree with doing what she wants, she’ll just keep him hanging like this?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan nodded, ”I know it’s unbelievable and infuriating to you. Believe me, I feel the same. I despise such tactics, but we really have no other choice.”

Zhou Yun: ”Absolutely no other way?”

Zhou Lan said, ”Unless there’s a way to make Yu Zhiyang’s boss relent.”

”Which means there’s no way currently,” Zhou Yun understood what Zhou Lan meant.

Zhou Lan said, ”We have to find another suitable candidate now.”

Zhou Yun didn’t speak.

Seeing Zhou Yun’s expression, Zhou Lan sighed and said, ”Some things can’t be forced.”

Zhou Yun thought carefully and said, ”Sister Lan, help me arrange a meeting with Yu Zhiyang’s boss.”

”What are you planning to do?”

”I want to talk to her personally,” Zhou Yun said. ”I’m not ready to give up just yet.”

Zhou Lan and Zhou Yun looked at each other for a few seconds.

”Alright, I understand,” Zhou Lan conceded.

”Actually, you also don’t think that Yu Zhiyang is the only option, right?” Zhou Lan asked.

Zhou Yun pursed his lips, ”You already know what I’m thinking, so why bother asking?”

Zhou Lan lifted her hand and patted Zhou Yun’s head, not saying a word.

That evening, Liu Pinran invited them to dinner. It was mainly to ease the tensions with Zhou Yun.

Originally, because Zhou Yun was not willing to follow Yuehai’s wishes to create a CP (celebrity pairing) narrative with Gu Huaichun, Yuehai directly halted several projects that were interested in continuing to work with Zhou Yun, including the recently aired ”Dark Sky.”

”Dark Sky” was the hottest series of the past week. Gu Huaichun’s popularity rose again, delighting in the heat, announcing three new endorsements in a week.

But even so, the most popular person was still Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun’s romance with Song Chi was the most attention-grabbing affair in the entertainment industry recently, without exception.

If Liu Pinran were the boss of Yuehai Network, he might have broken off relations with Zhou Yun and stopped the collaboration; after all, the entertainment industry isn’t short of one or two actors. Without Zhou Yun, they could still hire good actresses.

But the problem is, Yuehai Network isn’t just his company. To be precise, he’s only part of the company. Although he’s an executive, an executive is responsible to the boss and the shareholders.

As Zhou Yun continued to be popular, becoming more so, winning awards, and starting a romance with Song Chi, keeping her name on everyone’s lips every few days, Liu Pinran began to face a problem.

Why didn’t Yuehai have any ongoing projects with Zhou Yun?

You have to know, ”Eighth Heartbeat” is still the project with the highest return on investment for the year until now.

Low cost, high returns.

Even now, ”Eighth Heartbeat” often hangs in the top three on Yuehai Network’s hot broadcast daily chart.

So, even if Liu Pinran is a million times reluctant, he still has to bite the bullet and make amends with Zhou Yun.
