Chapter 395: Chapter 320: First Light: 3_6

Zhou Yun gave a soft grunt in response.

Xiao Bei turned around and asked, ”Aunt Xiao Yun, why hasn’t my dad woken up yet?”

”Because your dad still needs to recuperate, and he can wake up only after he is fully recovered,” Zhou Yun beckoned, ”Come here, don’t disturb dad’s rest, once he wakes up, he will definitely tell you.”

Xiao Bei grunted affirmatively and obediently came over.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Are you going to school today?”

Xiao Bei shook his head and said, ”Dad has already arranged my school transfer, I no longer need to go.”

Zhou Yun didn’t expect Xiao Bei to be so well-informed.

”Do you know your grandparents’ contact number?”

Zhou Yun felt that since such an incident occurred, they should get in touch with Zhong Zhihui’s parents.

Xiao Bei said, ”I remember it; dad had me memorize it.”

Zhou Yun sighed with relief and said, ”Could you tell Aunt Xiao Yun, then? Your dad is injured, and I need to inform them.”

Xiao Bei nodded, reeling off a string of numbers.

In the afternoon, Zhou Yun met Xiao Bei’s grandparents.

They were a very simple elderly couple. Anxious as they were, they still remembered to knock on the hospital room door and then asked, ”Is Zhong Zhihui here?”

The now awake Zhong Zhihui, upon hearing his parents’ voices, turned his head and asked, ”Dad, mom, how did you get here?”

At that moment, Zhou Yun, who had taken Xiao Bei to the washroom, came back.

Upon seeing his grandparents, Xiao Bei excitedly ran over, shouting, ”Grandpa, Grandma!”

Zhou Yun broke into a smile.

...

”We are truly grateful to you,” Zhong Zhihui’s mother, holding the hands of Zhou Yun and another caregiver, said with immense gratitude, ”If it weren’t for you, we really wouldn’t know what could have happened; thankfully, you were here.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Auntie, no need for thanks, I’m glad Mr. Zhong is all right.”

The old lady raised her right hand to wipe away the tears that had streamed down her face, saying, ”This child has been so unlucky these past two years.”

Seeing this, Zhou Yun instinctively embraced the old lady.

”Good people will receive good karma; everything will get better,” Zhou Yun consoled, ”Look, your grandson Xiao Bei is so adorable.”

The old lady, wiping away tears, smiled again.

”Yes, my dear grandson is so well-behaved; he does well in his studies too, always ranking in the top three,” as soon as the grandmother started talking about her grandson, she immediately began to beam with pride.

Zhou Yun said, ”Exactly, so everything is bound to get better and better.”

”Thank you so much, young lady, for comforting me.”

”This isn’t just comfort; I really mean it, I really like Xiao Bei,” Zhou Yun said, ”He’s destined to become an exceptionally capable person.”

After speaking with the elderly couple, Zhou Yun entered the hospital room, waved at Xiao Bei and said, ”Xiao Bei, now that your grandparents are here, I’ll be heading back.”

Xiao Bei, holding his grandpa and chatting, looked up when he heard Zhou Yun was about to leave. With eyes wide and shining like a deer’s, he asked, ”Aunt Xiao Yun, you’re leaving?”

He scurried over, ”Are you coming back?”

Zhong Zhihui called out to Xiao Bei.

Xiao Bei turned his head back.

Zhong Zhihui said, ”Aunt Xiao Yun has a lot of work and might not have the time to come here; she took care of you for a whole day yesterday, so you should thank Aunt Xiao Yun.”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Bei’s little mouth puckered up.

With watery eyes, he asked, ”Aunt Xiao Yun, will I be able to see you again?”

Seeing Xiao Bei like this, Zhou Yun’s heart melted.

She squatted down immediately, stroked Xiao Bei’s face, and said, ”Of course. Aunt Xiao Yun will contact you when she visits your place, and when you come to Shanghai, you can also reach out to Aunt Xiao Yun.”

Xiao Bei blinked and asked, ”Really?”

”Of course, it’s true,” Zhou Yun said, ”I really do like Xiao Bei very much.”

She hugged Xiao Bei and asked, ”Do you have a mobile number?”

Xiao Bei replied, ”Dad bought me a phone watch.”

”That’s great, shall we exchange phone numbers then?” Zhou Yun suggested, ”Whenever you miss Aunt Xiao Yun, you can call me, but sometimes Aunt Xiao Yun might be busy at work and not be able to answer immediately—so I might only be able to call you back later, okay?”

Xiao Bei beamed with a brilliant smile and nodded.

The two exchanged phone numbers, and Zhou Yun entered her contact information into Xiao Bei’s phone watch. She stood up, went to Zhong Zhihui’s bedside, and said, ”Mr. Zhong, take good care of yourself, I’m leaving now.”

Zhong Zhihui’s face showed touched gratitude but he restrained it, saying, ”Miss Zhou, thank you so much.”
